So you take 6'5" Julio Jones out of the game near the goal line. Brilliant! I can't believe Quinn hasn't won a super bowl yet.

I don't how exactly, but he and Garrett have to be related.

I liked the toss sweep on 4th and goal.

With that defense - Philly is going to be pretty nasty once Wentz gets back.

Ratings way down for the Opener. It was sort of a boring game to watch.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/09/07/ratings-way-down-for-nfl-opener/

The NFL’s opening Thursday night game got disappointing TV ratings for a league that is battling perceptions of rapidly declining popularity.

NBC announced a 13.4 overnight rating for the Super Bowl champion Eagles’ last-second win over the Falcons. That was way down from the 14.6 for Chiefs-Patriots last year, which itself was way down from a 16.5 for Panthers-Broncos the year before, which itself was way down from a 17.7 for Steelers-Patriots the year before that.

Very good game from Foles. He worked a minor miracle with that cast of scrubs on offense. He should be a starter for a team. If the Bears didn't have Trubisky I would want them to have him.

I knew the Cowboys blew it when the didn't go after him a couple years ago.

I predict tonight's game will be one of the lowest rated opening nights since they started on a Thursday.

Good call on this... I wonder if it was the slow, sloppiness of the game - or outside forces?

Or that ratings have been on the decline for openers for the last several years. :dunno:

No I am completely serious. I have always been a huge Foles fan and think he has gotten shafted in his career so far. He is a starter level talent, a good starter at that. The offense around him was pretty piss poor. I watched the whole game. His tight ends were dropping passes left and right. Agholor is a crap receiver who can't get open on a normal route. I love hearing people parrot what they heard about Cordarelle Patterson that one time in Minnesota about how he wasn't a good route runnber, but when Agholor can't separate more than 2 inches from his coverage no one says a word. Odd how parroting works in the NFL.

Foles was throwing strikes for the most part. He underthrew a few deep balls, but it wasn't for a lack of arm strength. Agholor is somehow the best receiver on the team while Jeffrey and Hollins are hurt, so really Foles can't attack the coverage deep unless it's a broken coverage. His man isn't going to get open. Foles threw one pass with a man draped all over him that put the Eagles into the red zone. Not many QBs can make a throw like that with laser accuracy.

The numbers, while not impressive, do not tell the story. The Eagles won because Foles willed the offense into scoring position with the talent scraps that he has to deal with on offense.

The lack of Alshon really hurts - hes easily the Eagles best receiver. Agholor is very good in the slot and I thought he came up with a few impressive catches. Hes just not a guy whos going to burn you deep.

Foles was under duress and threw some bad inaccurate passes. He got better as the game wore on and thats typical for him. He had a bad game though.

Tends to be my thinking.. That coupled with a rather snoozer of a 1st half game.

And also delayed an hour for rain.

Individual markets will differ, but I was much more into the Cubs/Nationals than this game.

I flipped to check the score of this game between innings, but the baseball game was much more entertaining.

I put everything in the pot. Plus Philly has no stars and Atlanta only has one. This league misses Peyton Manning.

I was just thinking of this today. When Manning and Brady were dueling for single season TD records. Even Matt Stafford had over 40 TDs that one year. It seems passing numbers have come way back down to earth. When the game is favoring the offensive side of the ball, I wonder why all of a sudden we aren't seeing the same prolific TD numbers from the top guys. Not even close really. I do think this year it spikes back up with an infusion of young QB talent into the league. Majomes, Trubisky, Jimmy G, Mayfield and Goff are going to make us forget about the middling old guard very soon.

Fockin A, about damn time. God I hate the off season.

In the AFC I think Pitts, Da Raidahs, Jags, and Patsies are clearly the cream of the crop. Barring injury, all will make the playoffs and I would pretty much guarantee conference champ is one of those 4. I could see the other 2 playoff spots going to Dungver, Indy, Baltimore, or Tennessee.

I'll bet you the Broncos have a better regular season record than the Raiders.

After week 1, I'm guessing this bet is off the table :(.

Took all the weekend's winnings and put in on the Rams. Fell asleep at halftime figuring I'd lost. Pleasantly surprised this morning to see they covered.

Think they'll be comparing the Gruden and Ditka contracts for years to come?

I actually though OAK looked damn good, least thru the 3 qtrs. I stayed up for.

I took the Rams as my SB pick, no shame in losing to them... Still a pretty crazy contract though - no arguing that.

I gave the NBC pregame a shot because of the Giants but Dungy said something boring as usual and Rodney Harrison had on a purple suit. HT out
