The best team in football ?

The young defense is progressing nicely.

Moss must be kicking himself in the ass for leaving the best quarterback, coach and organization in football.

eta.

Don't pound your chest to hard there 'big'guy. You only beat the second most underachieving team in the league (behind Dallass) this year. The Pats showed little in this game to prove to anyone that they are elite.

Recordwise - yes

Talentwise - not yet but getting better. McCourty is a player - I still can't trust a defense that has Brandon Merriweather playing safety.

I'm still glad they got rid of Moss, the offense still needs some time to work out some kinks. Be nice if/when Fred Taylor comes back, but we know he'll probably get hurt again. Danny Woodhead is becomming a very nice player.

If they would have worked it out with Moss, I'd say they are the best team in football. But without him, they have an average defense and a grind it out average offense.

They won't beat themselves due to QB play and solid coaching. That alone makes them better than 75% of the league. But you have to be great at some element of the game to win a title.

How are the vikings doing with moss? He sure has helped their offense tremendously. This is the NFL, not fantasy football. The patriots are better off without Moss. Today maybe not, but come playoff time, absolutely.

The Vikings were lost without Moss and are still lost with him.

But you have watched enough Patriots football to know what Moss does for an offense. When is produces, he is dominant. And when he doesn't produce, he draws 2 defenders every play giving you a 10 on 9 advantage on the rest of the field. The field then becomes wide open for guys like Welker and Harvin.

You can and will make the argument that his attitude hurts the locker room as much as his ability helps on the field. And you may be right, or you may be wrong. The public only gets about 10% of the story on those issues. But we haven't seen any players or coaches on NE criticize him on the way out as far as I've seen.

He was not okay with only being a decoy, they were starting to use him less and less, he had to go. Stop it already.

NE is the third best team in their division and were lucky to beat Buffalo or they would have been fourth.

They are doing what they always do, quietly go about their business winning the division... Paving the way to win in their methodology. They have a dominant position in the draft, and are poised to reload alot of talent in the trenches for next year... ITs the best run organization in football, hands down.

This team reminds me of their super bowl teams of 2001 and 2003 (the 2004 team with Dillon was unstoppable). They won very close games and didn't overly impress anyone but they always came through with clutch plays. That woodhead catch and run for the 1st down was typical clutch play. Belichick is starting to work his magic with the youngsters on defense. They are already great against the run and the secondary is starting to look better but they have a ways to go. They need the ball control game to keep their defese off the field and Brady can play dink and dunk if they want him to. Say goodbye to huge fantasy numbers from Brady. .

Gotta love the return of patriots envy

Envy? ROFL What have they accomplished since the cheating scandal? The biggest choke in Super Bowl history, a non-playoff year, and a total ass kicking by the Ravens in last year's playoffs.

The Patriots have nothiong to be envious of. They cheated and won some rings. When they were caught and had to play by the rules....not so much. Oh yeah, they did beat a 2-5 team yesterday. Kudos.

They have a nice game-managing quarterback, average receivers, below-average running backs, average defense...

I'd say 8-8/9-7 when it's all said and done....

A good season to be proud of and puff your chest out

Congrats

You think they're going to going to go 3 and 6 the rest of the year?

Well with a shoo in victory against the hapless packers later this season I think they'll be able to push it to 10 victories.

Be fair. Was that a clutch play by Woodhead, or a missed tackle by Allen?

Also, the combined record of the teams the Pats have beaten? 16-27

And these teams scoring ranks? SD(3), BAL(19), CIN(21), MIA(25), BUF(27), MIN(28).

Seriously....who gets excited about being the best team in Nove......nevermind.

You have to excuse Patriots fans for getting excited this early. When your Quarterback has a winning percentage of above .800 in games played in December, January and February, you just kind of assume that there is nothing to worry about after November.
