When I was a kid in the the early 80's they had a presidential patch patch they gave to kids who could run fast, so long distance running, chalk board back and forth. And a few other bullshit excercies. The one thing Icould never do was pull ups. Never got my presidential patch.

Same here. I recall it had something to do with Boy Scouts. Couldnt do a single one.

Ive never successfully done a single pull up in my life.

A trainer I had once said that 37 arms dont help. I said neither does a fat ass. He laughed and agreed, but said guys with long arms always struggle with bench and pull-ups.

Could only do 9 in high school. Like I said during Indoc I did countless pull ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and flutter kickers every day. So I got up pretty high in pull-ups. Now, Im back down to 8-9. Only 4-5 with a 25 pound weight added

Makes sense. Didnt really do pull-ups for baseball/football. A lot of leg and shoulder workouts.

I just did 3 after this poll, it was tough, I am not going to lie, I probably was in the 10-12 range in HS but I was fit 150 under 5% body fat.

Now at 42 and pushing 240, with two shoulder surgeries I was surprised I could even do 1

probably the first pullups I have done in 20 years

also just for clarification is one of those pull up things that attaches to the door cheating? I honestly don't know, it was hard as f either way

Where the hell are you guys doing these pull-ups? I can't think of anywhere I could go to do one.

Are you going to playgrounds and using the monkey bars? Also, do they still call them monkey bars?

Also, I believe pull-ups are done with hands facing away from you. Hands toward you are chin-ups, right?

I have a pull-up bar in my workout room. By far the toughest exercise I do, and I hate them. I have an elastic strap attachment to ease the strain of them, but the 6'-4" long arms curse makes those tough as hell.

Are we talking real pull ups or ones with that allows kiping?

Yeah, I'm in the 4-6 range strict, 7-10 if I kip. But my shoulders and back aren't flexible so my kip sucks. :D

So to be considered really fit an adult should do around 13 to 17. You're going to tell me at 265 lb you knocked out close to 60. Ok.
