** Round 11 - 16 Commentary - July PPR Mock 2017 **

Recommended Posts

I've gotta go with my gut here. After using him sparingly to start the season they turned him loose in week 10. In weeks 10 and 11 he ate up 234 from scrimmage and gave them a glimpse at their future. He has good size, speed and great hands. I see his numbers mirroring Duke Johnson's with a much higher ceiling. He has the only defined roll in this teams backfield and could walk away with the whole prize if the fat man and pretender underwhelm again. CJ Prosise is my man and I just don't think he would come back to me at 13.03. I see another back in a similar situation but with a bit more wear on the tires, CJ it is.

I was all set to take Prosise and then I got sniped for at least the fourth time in this draft. Thanks, Remote. I went back to the drawing board and debated between two players. I ended up going with Sproles. He's been at least an RB3 in PPR formats for the last 8 years and, despite his age, he doesn't look to be getting any less touches this year. I think he's good for a combined 700 yards, 50ish catches and 3 or 4 TD's. Solid for the fifth RB on my roster.

If you had not taken Sproles that would have been my pick, he always seems to surpass expectations....

AAHHHHH. Son of a B, Wonder! Sniped me there. I seriously didn't think anyone would take him in front of me and thought he's go overlooked.

Was really feeling good about taking Britt with my round 11 pick but he got taken right before me. I settled for Beasley which I'm still pretty happy with. If he can come anywhere close to his numbers from last year he's pure gold at this point in the draft.

Idk about pure gold. His upside is really limited imo. I mean there aren't any sure fire studs at this point, but he really faded the 2nd half last year imo

I'll end fat Robs slide here based on my hunch that he'll force at least a time share with Perine if not hold onto the job outright.

I just got him as my WR5 and he finished as a WR3 last year in my .5 PPR league. He was 21st for receptions last year with 72 and he ended up with 5 TDs. I'm not expecting those same results but I don't need him to with what I have invested in him. All I would need him for are some spot starts playing match ups. The only issue I saw with his numbers ending the season were with TDs, he stopped scoring then after week 11. He's good for about 4 catches and 40 some yards each week.

We must have different meanings for pure gold. His upside is severely limited imo. Not a bad pick, just wouldn't call it pure gold myself

I suppose. I just see a guy that I know I can start whenever needed and get me anywhere from 7 to 20 points.

Went with Gio here as the pickings are getting pretty slim. At this point in the draft I'm just trying to find guys that I know have talent and have a shot at a starting role. I know what Gio is capable of but coming off and ACL injury and the addition of Mixon makes his future very shaky. He's on track to be ready for week one but I can't imagine he starts right away. If Mixon can't get the job done early then Gio will be the main guy and could have fantastic value.

I haven't really seen talent in Gio.

I've always found him to be a pretty good value pick. He didn't finish well last year due to injury but the years before he was the RB18, RB18 and RB14 in my .5 PPR league. He's my RB5 so if he doesn't work out it's not that big of deal but if he can put up the double digit numbers he averages he'll be a great depth player.

I was glad to grab Doctson in the 12th as I think he's got a chance to shine this year, but my thinking is more along the lines of one of he or Pryor will emerge as the WR1 on an improving Skins team.

So I basically handcuffed Pryor lol.

I'm not sure either will be the WR1.

What Pryor accomplished in his first year as a wide receiver in.....CLEVELAND......was astounding.....period. He and Cousins will be brothers.

So you're of a mind that Reed/Crowder are the WR1 fair to say?

Gruden has a history of focusing on the short passing game, but I think that has more to do with him maximizing his system to fit the players he had at the time.

Pryor and Doctson bring similar but wider skill sets to an offense that saw Garcon and DJax leave. I'd be happy if Pryor scored Garcon points and Doctson scored DJax points, but I think that's their floor.

Doctson needs to prove he can do someuthing. Reed and Pryor have. Crowder has also proven himself. Pryor reed crowder......in that order, then doctson.

im not counting Reed in the WR category, so make of that what you will :ninja:

I like both players you have but just a gut feeling

I don't think enough people think about 'handcuffing' their WR. It's a smart move to protect against injury or take a chance on 2 breakouts just like the RB position.

I was kind of surprised to see Tyrod fall this far. I have him ranked higher than some of the other guys taken already.

I had back up Qb inked for this round and my list had Dalton, Taylor and Wentz on it. One other Qb was also considered highly for the same reason I had decided on Wentz. In Dalton, Tyrod, and Tannehill, I feel we all know what we are getting and that isn't a bad thing. You're getting good #2 Qb's. In Wentz and the other I see upside potential, and in wentz particularly, I see upgraded targets and Offensive line for a Qb who was thrown at the wolves last season. Having Brees on my squad already, a top 3 Qb, I could speculate on my backup a little more. Had Dalton been available it would have been a tougher decision, but I am pleased Wentz made it to me.

I am equally surprised to see him drafted at all

After taking Stafford in the 10th, I was hoping Carr would manage to slide back to me in the 11th. When that didn't happen, I almost grabbed Taylor. I was thrilled to see him make it back to me. I think a lot of us discount him because he plays for the Bills and never seems to have any huge games (fantasy or reality). But his numbers are much better than a lot of the QB's going in front of him: his average points per game make him QB7 over the last two years. Waiting on a QB has been my strategy since I started playing fantasy football over twenty years ago. Some years I get bit, but I think I'll be fine this year with Stafford and Taylor.

I actually agree with that too but in a mock where it seems many are taking a second QB I'm seeing guys go ahead of Tyrod that I have ranked lower.

I really debated Ginn and Gabriel. In the end we know how inconsistent Ginn is going to be. Gabriel showed some nice big play ability, while the Falcons showed they trust him in the offense. I felt his upside is probably higher

I don't believe I have ever had so many picks sniped just before my pick in my history of drafting. Thank goodness this is only a mock. I had "Ted Ginn Jr." written down on my draft list and had to go back to the drawing board once again when Remote took him just before me. I changed directions as the next collection of WR all fall within a very tight range (in my opinion) and opted to go with Dixon.

Dixon is the most talented back in the Baltimore and I think he could (and should) be the starter after Week 4. The arrival of Woodhead limits him to a degree, but they didn't draft a back and Harbaugh has given him his stamp of approval. Plus, they've brought in rushing guru Greg Roman so the rushing attack in general will be much improved. I see a whole lot of upside with Dixon in the 13 round.
