Thoughts on Dez Bryant

Recommended Posts

I know he has tough opponents, but this is the 1st time in awhile he went though a off season. I think he caught 5 TD's in the last 6 games with Dak. You can throw that one year out with all those super crappy QB's. Reports are that he has had an amazing off season, and is 100% healthy. He may show a great late value mid to late 2nd

i love dez's play, but IMO anywhere in the 2nd is too high for a WR with a fragility problem playing on a run-first team with beasley breaking out and switzer/gathers getting their own packages. dez has never gotten elite catch numbers or yardage--his upside was always TDs, which are less reliable as FF point producers. he's facing a monster's ball of elite CBs, and will also be dealing with constant double coverage since DMC/morris aren't going to scare anyone.

i haven't run the numbers, but when you look at the circumstances, 90/1200/12 seems like the most you could hope for, with more modest numbers likely. i don't see that as being worth a 2nd.

i've had Dez in a keeper league for the last 5 years and i'm very much down on him this year, close to DND until the Zeke news came out.

I just don't think Dak to Dez, at its best, could ever be as good as Romo to Dez at their best. When you factor in the fact that they have Zeke and the best running O-line in the NFL there's no need for Dak to be a gunslinger. He just needs to manage games. So my argument isn't Dez being healthy or dominant, my argument is will he get the volume? Will Dez get fed enough?

This was my evaluation before the Zeke suspension. Obviously with Zeke out they would need to rely on Dak a little more.

What's great value for a second-round WR?

Basically a top three finish at the position?

I like him as a bounce-back guy but not that much.
