Haha... yeah San Juan outlying areas are pretty rough. Wife's fam is from the north western part of the island. Quebradillas, PR. Nice area... much calmer. The island in general is a bit chaotic and the traffic is 3rd world lots of the time.... folks flying around everywhere. Most if it is a New Yorkan "Me 1st and Always" attitude. They're pretty proud of their heritage and I can see why as it's a really rich culture and really just a tiny ass little island. Unfortunately I think quite a bit of it has been pushed out for the new york lifestyle and attitude. My wife says it's nothing like it was when she was a child just 30 odd years ago. After it got dark they took us back out to this bio-luminescent bay and we swam in the dark. Everytime you moved in the water it released like fairy dust... so it was like swimming in glowing sparkles!
