Good additions, though I thought you'd favor bigger seats on a plane, as you're a big dude IIRC.

Add me to the list that says wine.

Obviously I'm not talking about some Hobo shiit, but legit wines. Even brands like Barefoot fool most, it's the fancy bottles and pretentious names that sell to the masses.

Of course I would favor such. Im 6,4 220.

But its not worth paying the ridiculous up charge for. On my last flight back to the states, going from economy to premium economy was $450. Or as much as the ticket was. Business or first? Your talking thousands just for the upgrade.

Toilet paper

Underwear

Socks

Cars

Ill agree with you on cars.

I used to be a car snob. Had my BMW. now I realize its just about point A to B. The rest is stupid.

The rest of your list i disagree with.

Toilet paper? Hell no. I want premium for my delicate butt hole.

Underwear? I dont go full retard with the really expensive designer stuff, but Ill get the best Hanes has to offer. Their new premium or whatever is great. Breathes much better. Nothing ruins your day faster than uncomfortable chaffy underwear.

Same with socks. I hate the ones that bunch up and stuff.

Oh, and I wont do sports or concerts anymore. Its just a colossal waste of money.

Concerts in particular always end up p!ssing me off. The band never comes out on time. You spend forever waiting for set changes. People are animals, so sitting in a crowd of them sucks.

Id much rather watch the concert on my tv and sound system in comfort at my leisure. Same with sports. If someone offers me tickets, I decline.

On second thought, flowers are worth it. Sure they die quickly, but pretty much every chick loves them and they require almost no thought or effort. Literally and figuratively a good bang for the buck.

Disagree with smart phones, sports tickets, and dry cleaning. Love getting my shirts dry cleaned.

I guess. I think you have to draw a distinction between random flowers and occasion flowers.

Random flowers are cheaper, and you get much more credit for it. Thus they are worth it.

Occasion flowers, especially valentines or mothers day, are price gouged, and expected. Total rip off.

I have no problem spending money on a woman. I would just rather either buy something that will still exist four days later, or put some thought into something.

Agree these are a waste, but the right woman realizes this - no bridezilla is a woman worth marrying.

We are in the beginning stages of wedding planning.

At third world prices thank god.

She keeps expecting me to make decisions. Because in most things in our life, Im the decisive one. She doesnt do that well.

I keep saying, honey, this wedding is for you. Its in your home town, and 98% of the guests will be yours. You pick. It doesnt matter to me. Spend what you like, I dont care. (I can say that safely because I know she wont spend anywhere near an amount I will object to.)

She has set the entire budget at $5k. I can live with double that if it makes her happy.

$5K is a steal, but I'd still rather spend the money elsewhere.

I didn't impose a spending cap on my wife. My only stipulation is we should spend about the same amount on our honeymoon. In the end, the wedding was more expensive, but both were reasonable by US and Hawaii standards.

Oh I would too. I told her I would much rather spend three times that and take her to Paris (her dream destination, Ive been) and get married just the two of us.

But shes 32, and for some reason, had given up on getting married. The church thing is important to her, and family and whatnot is too. She has lived abroad for years, and I think she really wants to do it at home with everyone. And thats fine.

Frankly, since the long term plan is for us to retire there, it probably is a good idea for me to go ahead and get churched up and put on a bit of a show with the whole thing, so Im not just random americano anymore.

But yeah, I told her, the wedding is hers, Ill take care of the honeymoon. Since we will already be in the Philippines anyway, we will just do it there. There are many wonderful resorts on beautiful islands. Ill pick one. It will be cheap.

And she now makes the same that I do, so its not like its all my money here.

Im hoping that I can get her a US tourist visa, and after the honeymoon, take her home to meet my family. But Im not sure if that will be possible. My folks said if we get a visa, they will plan and pay for a trip for the whole family (brother and sister, spouses, and assorted kids) and we can meet them there. Maybe California or something.

It would be cruel to take her to America for the first time and only show her Memphis Tennessee. And Id rather get the introductions out of the way on neutral turf. I suspect the family estste will intimidate her a bit.

But it appears getting a visa is basically a 50-50 shot. So we shall see. If we cant, mom and dad have indicated that they might come to the wedding in the Philippines, which I kind of would love, and kind of dread.

My dream plan is to do the wedding in august, and just hang out in the phils for several months. Then go back to Memphis in December and do Christmas with my family. I havent been home for the holidays in seven years. Then we can go back to teaching somewhere in spring semester. But I am having a hard time selling her on moving again. And she finally has a good job, and is loathe to leave it.

Pretty good list, except who the hell takes clothes to the dry cleaners. I wash my "dry clean only" clothes on gentle cycle and they last for years. I would not even think to include it.

Absolutely. Diamonds are the biggest scam going and anything related to a weddingbgets a huge markup. My wife picked out a moissonite lab diamond that looks better than a real one for a fraction of cost and we spent money on a dual wedding/honeymoon on a beach in Hawaii. Pennies compared to the drivel the sitcoms and rom coms convince women they HAVE to have to be happy.

Diamonds are actually a scam. They are actually a very common stone. I forgot the name of the guy who made them popular by saying a man should spend 3 months salary on one
