Who are the top QBs in the game right now?

Recommended Posts

I think the top 2 are very clear, regardless in what order you put them. But with Brees, Roethlisberger, Eli and company aging and taking a step back, who are you top ten as of today?

I'll take a stab at mine:

1. Rodgers

2. Brady

3. Prescott - hasn't really had a sophomore slump. Looks like the real deal

4. Brees- May not be the Brees from a few years ago, but still very good

5. A. Smith- This guy isn't flashy, but seemingly gets better every year. Very solid and dependable.

6. Cousins- Still underrated. Even by his own team

7. Wentz- Big leap forward in his second year. Like Prescott, never seems frazzled

8. D. Carr- Seems to have taken a step back this year up until this past week. May be out of his slump

9. R. Wilson- Always a beneficiary of a great defense and solid running game. Needing to do a bit more this year.

10. M. Ryan- Still don't know the real Ryan. Was last year a total fluke? Seems very average again.

no need to read past 1, you clearly haven't a clue.

I've grown to learn that you don't like to contribute, you only troll all day, but I'll respond to you as if you're a normal guy.

I could have easily put Brady at one. They're so clearly the best two in the game right now that everyone else is fighting for distant third. The reason I put Rodgers first is because he is essentially the entire Green Bay offense. They go from elite to disastrous when he misses time. New England hardly misses a beat when Brady misses time. That's not a knock on Brady. I put him at #2 currently and all-time. I have much respect.

I'm a huge Dak fan - but even still, my enthusiasm is tempered with him.... For 2 reasons:

1. The coaching staff is either incapable, or flat out refuses, to maximize his strengths. They keep treating him as a pure pocket passer - and he's not. He actually looks uncomfortable at times dropping back in the pocket and scanning the field.

which leads to my next point:

2. I just don't have the same 3rd down conversion faith that I had with Romo... Say what you will, but I had 100% confidence Romo would dig us out of 3rd and 7s, 3rd and 9s - hell even 3rd and 12s... Unless he's making a play with his legs, I just don't have any faith that Dak can deliver on the 3rd and longs - least not yet.

Odd you mention #2, because I'm just the opposite. I feel that Prescott is much more composed than Romo was. I thought Romo was a much better 1st and 2nd down QB. I think Prescott's strong suit is his cool demeanor. Whereas, I thought Romo's weakness was his performance when the chips were down.

Wentz is solid. In 3 years...he will be a top 3 NFL QB. Leaning toward #1.

Not Mitch Trubisky

How is it so many NFL teams are completely inept and incapable of realizing what a piece of crap certain players will be at the next level?

let alone, trade up to pick them

I wasn't sure if you were serious or not, thought maybe a bit of sarcasm...but I still used your comment to lead into mine.

Wentz started QB as a Jr. or Sr. in h.s. When he got to the NFL...he was more green than any QB ever in the NFL to set foot on the field. He went from 0 to 85 in 6 years with H.S and College coaches. Imagine what the next 6 years will bring under NFL coaches.

Quick Tidbit of info: Wentz' high school coach, was my high school coach.

RE: Aaron Rodgers

Didn't Rodgers just win his first OT game ever recently or late last year?

There's a sports radio host in Boston who is a GB homer... and he had some stat the summed up his frustration with Rodgers, and it went something like this:

The Packers, with Rodgers at QB, are 0-35 when trailing by one point in the 4th quarter to any team with a winning record.

maybe this stat is dated now? not sure... but at one point last year it was legit.

There's no question that Rodgers has better physical gits than Brady... he runs better, he may throw better - who knows. But there's no QB that's on Brady's level in terms of situational football and smarts/composure/winning/tenacity.

Correction, the OP started a thread trying to have a football discussion. Thought it might lead to some healthy debate about a subject we are all somewhat interested in.

You're complaining about someone trolling? Know what I think, Newbie? I think you're joining your goon squad going after me - and here, after edjr - for the exact same reason a bully on the schoolyard does. At home, they're getting their azz whupped daily - just like this forum appears to be doing to you since you've been outed.

But really: anytime you want to call a cease fire, I'm game. Until then, you really need to stop lashing out at everything that moves.

I agree with this. The same reason that Vegas oddsmakers declare Rodgers as the single largest influence on point spreads in the league - and the effect he has (10 points) when he's out is evidence of this.

Brady is great, but Rodgers has every bit of Brady's game - a better arm to boot - plus he can run. It is also my belief that a poster who could (perhaps legitimately) compare Brady's results in the 4th quarter to Rodgers is ignoring the teams surrounding these players, and - especially - the coach at the helm.

Wilson has played far longer than the guys in that category and led to 2 SB. He’s right there in that top category.

Even when Dallas was 10-1 with Dak...I still would have rather had Wentz.

A.) He's from here. How cool would that be.

B.) I thought he would end up being the better QB in the long run.

Certain styles "stick". Tom Brady, Rodgers, Wentz.

Certain ones seem to be a wave of highs followed be long term lows. McNabb, Newton, RG3.

Yet, every player mentioned in this thread makes less per year than..........................

Matt Focking Stafford. No doubt as to why the lions have been one of the shitttiest franchises in pro sports forever.

What are you going to do? The next QB up for contract is basically the next to be the highest paid. Just the way it works.

After Wentz? Probably Brady or Rogers.

Give it 3 years tops.

Brady will be gone, and Wentz will be hitting his best stride, Rodgers will be the twilight of his career.

2020:

1.) Wentz

2.) Rodgers

3.) any of a number of guys. Prescott. Carr. Goff. Etc. Etc.

Luck has not shown me enuff to be considered elite - injuries or not... I'd certainly put Wentz ahead of Dak. but not Goff, nor Winston.

Brady and Rogers are in a class of their own... The gap after that is so cavernous, it doesn't really matter.
