Who’s drinkin tonight?

Recommended Posts

Four Roses tonight. Decided to give the Small Batch a try as I am not a fan of the single barrel.

Its decent for the price (and was a few bucks on sale) but wont get me away from Basil Hayden as a regular purchase.

We were always held to the McMuffin rule. If McDonalds is still serving breakfast, you cant start drinking yet.

Notice that says start drinking. If you are still drinking uninterrupted by sleep from the night before, carry on.

They serve breakfast all day!

 Sangria is good but a little sweet. Not sure what is in a Singapore Sling but it sounds like a chick drink.

Only 4:40 here so no drinking yet. Soon though.

i make a simple syrup with the fruit. this is my basic red, but i used different fruit based on the flavor profile of the wines i use...

1 lime

1 lemon

1 orange

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup water

1 bottle of wine

1-2 cups club soda or sprite

2 tbs of brandy.... i use a blackberry brandy for red, apricot for white

cut fruit into 1/4 inch slices. place the ends in a sauce pot. set aside other slices. add water and sugar to sauce pot. bring to boil. stir until it dissolves....

remove from heat and cool. squeeze juice from ends back into the pot and discard ends. in a pitcher add fruit slices, wine, syrup, club soda, brandy...serve over ice.....

example of other variations:

used riesling and champagne as the wine.... stone fruit simple syrup

sauv blanc... stay citrus. throw in some blood orange

syrah, malbec.... blueberry

granache... raspberry, strawberry

etc

of a simpler version..... wine, sprite or club soda, fruit, brandy

There was a Chicago news anchor years back that focked up on air. He was the affable white old guy. There was some story about candy from another anchor. When the camera angle widens to show all the anchors he says, Well you know what they say, candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.

The other anchors look at him like wtf??? After going immediately to commercial they came back and apologized, reminding everyone that this is a family program. This was before the YouTube so I don't think I can find it.

Apparently my soon to be brothers in law feel it is a necessary tradition to get me drunk this evening.

So we have lots of red horse (6.4 percent beer) and a bottle of local hooch made from coconuts.

This could get ugly.
