Not a big fan of Guitar Shorty, as I think his brand of blues is a little more southern rock than it is blues.

But, speaking of Shorty's who do stuff with the blues, I do like Trombone Shorty. But alas, I don't know of any songs he does with the word "Blues" in it. But, his albums are on Blue Note Records, so there's that. He and Queen Latifah did a decent version of "Preachin' the Blues" for the Obamas. Not a favorite, but worth a post since blues are in the title and it shows the talents of Latifah.

Shorty did a very good version of St. James Infirmary (a classic NOLA blues song that he jazzed into an upbeat swing song) at the same gathering with the Obamas.

I made it through a bit of those but I'm most definitely a bigger fan of Blues Rock with Joe Bonamassa being one my absolute favs.

Yes, traditional blues, particularly New Orleans blues, can be a bit of an acquired taste if you're more of a classic rock fan. I was always as much of a punk/funk guy as I was classic rock, so that punk/funk led me down the path more towards accoustic and traditional blues while the rock side of me went more towards folk as I've aged. Still like a good thrashing punk or rock song on occasion, but those tend not to be the main genre of music in my shuffles.
