We get bonuses in March so I feel the same pain. The offset of getting a few bucks more in each paycheck when you pass the Social Security limit just doesn't make up for it. :dunno:

12k "bonus" (not technically a bonus) took home 9600. Nice.

What still amazes me. I've never been a money guy.... I was a YMCA director for a long time..but my wife will bring home two years of my salary as a Christmas bonus this year.

Updated for accuracy. It's taxed at 40%, not 25%. :bandana:

I guess today is a popular day for bonuses to drop. Oh and mine dropped. (Like said above at least some to my 401k)

Make yourself a pass-through corporation.

Apparently thatll be the new play under the tax giveaway.

Wont do a whole lot for us working schlubs of course, but might get some benefit. Worth evaluating at least

Taxed at 40%, fkn brutal. I'd rather take less and it be part of my salary.

At the end of the day, it all works out the same.

Que?

Income is income. Taxed at the same rate unless youre talking stock options or something.

Salary increase is always better though since they have to pay you that year after year... til they dont.

He is talking about what is withheld from his paycheck which is higher for bonuses than regular pay. Many people have a hard time differentiating from what is withheld and what you ultimately pay in taxes.

No, the percentage for different types of income is different for withholdings.
