    Mike Davis - Speculative Add?

We're branding Davis as bad because a coaching staff that has Mitchell Turdbisky at QB and had a gameplan that involved 7 running plays didn't use him? How about we use actual performance metrics to see if he can play No. Player Age Pos G GS Att Yds TD Lng Y/A Y/G A/G Tgt Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng R/G Y/G Ctch% Y/Tgt Touch Y/Tch YScm RRTD Fmb 32 Chris Carson 24 RB 14 14 247 1151 9 61 4.7 82.2 17.6 24 20 163 8.2 0 27 1.4 11.6 83.3% 6.8 267 4.9 1314 9 3 27 Mike Davis 25 rb 15 2 112 514 4 37 4.6 34.3 7.5 42 34 214 6.3 1 18 2.3 14.3 81.0% 5.1 146 5.0 728 5 0 I'm not saying he's an elite RB, but he's not garbage when he basically had the same level of performance per touch as Chris Carson did last year, less the fumbles. Granted the Panthers acquiring him makes him useless in fantasy, but the Bears not using him is likely more of a problem with the organization than with Davis.

Your first ever fantasy football pick

Great question. It was 1991 season. We bought a case of bud light and it came with a pamphlet on how to play fantasy football. Distance based TD scoring only. No head to head, total points format. 3 of us played. My first pick was Barry Sanders. The next year we found the Cliff Charpentier books and the rest is history. One of the guys from that original 3 is still in the league I started in 1998 today. https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2018/12/19/meet-the-minnesotans-who-launched-fantasy-football/
  3. A lot of these seem obvious in hindsight but there were reasons for the hype or lack thereof OJ Howard - There were reasons to think he would be unproductive in Arians offense, but the fact that the Pats were trying to trade for him indicate to me that the flaw is in the team utilizing him, not the player. Dalvin Cook / Kerryon Johnson / David Johnson- You state that people were wrong to consider injury history with Cook, but wrong to ignore it with the Johnsons? Both have been injured in the past, I agree it was wise to look past Cook's injury but I can't find fault in those that didn't consider that when drafting Johnson. Montgomery / Singletary / Derrius Guice /Miles Sanders - Basically all unproven rookies. Montgomery has a coach that wont run and the worst QB in the league. Singletary has shown some good things but he was never going to be a lead back this year. Sanders problems aren't Howard, he simply is not good at the craft of running the ball. Guice had another injury and really no team around him anyway. Todd Gurley - He was drafted as a low RB1 for the most part. Honestly I'm not sure how many RB's taken where he was being picked are substantially better. Gurley is RB 8 in my league on PPG basis. He producing about where he was drafted. Noah Fant would be a fantasy producer this season as a low end TE1, predictions even included a top 5 finish - I never saw any of these and most mock drafts had him outside top 15 and none in the top 10. Antonio Brown would still finish as a top 5 fantasy WR (totally ignoring he's freaking nuts) - So was Ocho Cinco and Terrell Owens and Randy Moss and all three had some good seasons after people felt they were nuts. You definitely identified some things I see as hype, but some of the stuff you're taking credit for is just basically luck. Cook could have been injurred. Kerryon and DJ could have stayed healthy. I don't see where there was any more data to suggest any one of those guys was more likely to be injured than not. Mid round rookie RB's are always a guess and typically over drafted. I'm not sure that's anything different about that than any other year. As for Brown, I don't think anyone can claim to know how damaged mentally he was before the preseason. The helmet thing gave you some indication, but nothing he did last year at Pitt, was just plain crazy. Heck Emmanuel Sanders mailed it in a couple of weeks ago trying to get out of Denver. They had to barter with him to play to improve his trade stock. Sometimes the hive hype is right and sometimes its not but to sit back in hindsight and think it was all obvious? That's pretty easy to take credit for.

    Melvin Gordon buy low?

Problem is, if Gordon owner kept him this long, he's probably looking for more than market value. With that O-line and Rivers decline, I'm not optimistic he's anything more than an RB2 when he get a good game script, meaning they can actually run the ball and stay in games.

I finally dropped _____ and it feels great

https://patriotswire.usatoday.com/2019/10/21/report-patriots-inquired-about-trade-for-buccaneers-te-o-j-howard/ The fact that the Pats were interested leads me to believe the Arians simply refuses to use a TE no matter what their potential may be. I'm holding for one more week in case he gets traded anywhere, but after that I'll dump him, but I think that if NE feels he could be an asset to them, then hes a better player than we are seeing in Tampa for whatever reason.

What's the thoughts on David Montgomery?

"If utilized correctly" is the big issue. If Nagy is going to throw the ball 90% of the time, that renders any Bears RB useless. And it wasn't all game script, the bears were within 9 point for most of the 3rd quarter.

What's the thoughts on David Montgomery?

At this point I've given up even thinking of starting him. And this is mostly on the coaches. 7 running plays in a game between 2 elite defenses? You're playing the saints who are down 3 key offensive players and your strategy is to try to let Mitchell win the game? Honestly I just think Mitchell is such a boat anchor he's taking the whole ship down with him. The OL has issues. I'm not sure if any of the RB's are good, but at this point you need to treat Mitchell like a game manager and run the ball and play defense. I can only imagine the despair of Bears fans having to watch Mitchell play and realize they could have had Watson or Mahomes. This is going to go down historically with the Portland Trailblazers taking Sam Bowie over Micheal Jordan. When they are putting Mahomes in the HOF, the answer to the trivia question will be Mitchell.

Sanu to Pats for a 2nd round pick

I thought the same, but in reality, it's a late 2nd so really closer to a 3rd than an early 2nd in terms of value.

Who did you miss on this season?

Yeah but how do you explain Miles Sanders then. He's got maybe the best run blocking line in football and elite measurables but dude can't manage to get through the line. His only value is catching passes or hoping he can bounce outside. There's more the RB position than measurables. Devin Singletary may wind up being the best of the round 2-3 RB's this year and his combine numbers were garbage. I'm a Montgomery owner and I'm concerned he's not all he was cracked up to be but I don't think it's so much an athleticism issue as it is that he seems to be too much of a dancer at the point of attack. Maybe he'll adjust, maybe he wont, but he's not any worse than Sanders who seems to have zero grasp of how running plays work.

Who did you miss on this season?

Could have had Kupp. I was a bit concerned that the Rams offense would take a step back (correct) and that Kupp may not be fully healthy (incorrect).

I finally dropped _____ and it feels great

I was willing to give Arians the benefit of the doubt to use his 3rd most talented player. But apparently he's not interested in that. Equally as problematic for Howard's production is that the he's the best blocker on the O-line. He get far more playing time than Brate but they run routes on a similar number of passing plays, meaning Howard is staying in to block.

I finally dropped _____ and it feels great

I keep seeing some trade rumors on Howard so I'm keeping him until then, but I'm going to throw a party the day I get to dump him.

    Parity is gone.

I'm inclined to agree with you some extent. The NFL seems to be the last sport embracing "advanced metrics" and teams are now fine with losing now to win later. Miami is just one example. I'd argue Oakland made no real attempt to field a team last year. I'd put Washington in that category, but I'm not sure their front office is smart enough to tank as a strategy, they're more just a product of dysfunction. I'll add the Jets and Broncos to the Redskins category of so-poorly-managed-that-they-appear-to-be-tanking. I'm giving the Bengals a pass. They appear to be trying, but their roster was so emaciated that I'm not sure it makes much sense for them to try this year. Better off to get the new offense installed and suck and get rid of Andy Dalton and AJ Green to go forward. I'll put the Cardinals in this category as well. They are at least trying but don't have the top to bottom roster to compete this year. The Falcons are talented enough, but they are so poorly coached that they are tanking without trying to tank. Regarding the teams that are question marks, most appear to be destined for 8-8 Tampa - Defense is still a weakness, O-line is so bad they can't get one of their most talented players into pass patterns and Jameis is Jekyll and Hyde from game to game. NYG - I think this game show Danny Dimes a in his true colors a bit more. He finally played a team that could effectively pressure the QB. Though overall I think they are trending in the right direction for next season if they can find any talent on the defensive side of the ball. SDC - I never really understood the love for this team this year. O-line has issues, Rivers isn't getting younger. There are certainly some nice skill players but the defense has always seemed to play worse than it should given the talent. Tenn - I think Tenn is a good QB away from being a playoff team. Take Rivers off the Chargers and put him here and this would be an 11 win team. On the Patriots. I'll agree their offense is probably not what it appears to be and is more a product of playing nobody, but I think that defense is legit.

    Jaylen Samuels ROS

Given that Rudolph has one of the lowest air yards per target, I'd say Samuels has a solid floor with his receiving game.

    Thompson or white ROS.

I heard a stat on a podcast that said only 3 RB's last year in PPR had more 13point + games than White. http://www.nfl.com/player/jameswhite/2543773/gamelogs?season=2018 I think we always tend to forget how good White is in PPR. I can't argue against Thopmson being a productive player, but I dont't know that I'd make the argument that he's going to be more steady than White.
