Martavis Bryant

Recommended Posts

Yes it's only been 1 week and it's way too early to hit the panic button, but anyone sitting him until he puts up decent numbers? Tossing the idea of starting Corey Coleman over him.

If you are benching him, who do you have replacing him? Or are you rolling the dice with him and hope he bounces back?

steelers at home historically different team. i'm leaving him in personally. he may not pan out, but, in general i don't think benching him after bad games (or really good games by brown) is a good strategy

Leaving him in

Good matchup vs a weak "2 corner and he acknowledged working on it this past week, plus Steelers know he's a weapon they want to get going

They definitely are a different team at home. I was thinking it'll take him a few games to get back to speed. I should trust my gut and start him.

When you draft M. Bryant, you do so knowing that he has a low weekly floor...but a fantastically high weekly ceiling.

Therefore, you don't ever sit him if healthy, or you miss out on his yearly totals. He explodes without notice.

Especially at home. You have to stRt him.

Antonio Brown drew a lot of coverage early from Xavier Rhodes and Bryant was able to get in some work against the lesser DB's. I'm still worried about his amount of receptions. I'd like to see the guy get a solid 5 catches every game. When this offense rounds into form it's going to be hard to stop.

You know how much Ben likes to look at Brown over and over and over. I don't expect more than 6-7 targets for MB.

I personally think they need to change things up a bit. Eli Rogers isn't doing sh!t in the slot, and that's what they drafted JuJu for. I'd rather see them move JuJu into that role, move Rogers off the filed and target Bryant and Bell more.

Solid advice!

I disagree, I think you sit him even if he's healthy based matchups.

And those matchups usually mean if the Steelers are home or away.

the play Bryant scored on was like a 10 yrd post route...it didn't matter whether he or Ben was home or away. Ben threw an easy ball into zone coverage and Bryant went house with it.

In 2014 and 2015 Bryant played in 9 road games and avg 3 rec for 51 yards and scored 3 tds.

His stat line was 30 rec 463 yard and 3 tds in nine games.

Those same two seasons he played in 11 home games, he a avg 4 rec for 75 yards and scored 10 tds in those 11 games.

That's 45 rec for 830 yards and ten tds in 11 games.

I think Ben is better at home and that makes Bryant himself more worthy of a start at home.

certainly home/away factors in with the steelers passing game. i also plan, generally, to look at bryant after antonio brown goes off (ie: the next team might be more prone to try to keep brown in check)

Now that's a very interesting point.

Next game after Brown as one of those great games.

Great point thanks.

Anyone giving him a go this week? Looking like Baldwin will be an iffy play this week so it’s bryant or Thielen for me. In Baltimore with both teams coming off sh!t show losses. I know Bryant’s hit or miss and this week seems like a better chance to miss than hit.

tend to agree. of course, last week, all he had to do was catch the one long ball that HIT HIM IN THE HANDS (but he didn't)

At home he would have made that catch.

I traded his azz away this week. I don't even think I sold low bc he still has name value right now. He'll have his few good games here and there when they play at home, but he'll kill you with 3-4 pt games more often.

So what did you get for him?

So what did you get for him?

Several players involved.

I gave: Jack Doyle, Drew Brees, Ameer Abdullah and Martavis Bryant

I got: DeVante Parker, Chris Thompson and Marcus Mariota

I then turned Chris Thompson and Thielen into D. Martin and Garcon with another owner.

I tried to trade Cooper for him and no dice!

I own both......right now neither looking great. Not sure I would be excited enough about Martavis to want him over Cooper.

ESPN had an article that not only are the Steelers looking to simplify their offense a bit, but that Ben has noted they need to spread the ball around more instead of focusing so much on AB84. Also talk of JuJu manning the slot role, Eli Rogers going inactive and Justin Hunter coming in for the 4-wide sets. Sounds promising, at least in the case of Martavis. Baltimore's defense was shredded last week by the Jags so it's possible. I say he's a "buy" candidate after this week when the Steelers finish their stretch of 3 of 4 on the road with the one home game a difficult Vikings defense.
