Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Added up July, August and September so far, I am actually up like $500. Funny how that works, it seems like I have been running so bad, thought for sure I was down a thousand. Got my 60 hours now, qualed for the $25k, can relax. One of the basic rules of finance is that a safe dollar is worth more than a risky dollar. So not only did you make about 1/2 of minimum wage, you did it in a risky manner, which devalues it even further. Congrats bro$#@!
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Some outliers: fri 7/25 2/5 NL +1550 (rich drunk dude at my table) Fri 8/1 1/2 NL +400 Fri 8/15 1/2 NL -420 Sun 8/17 1/2 NL -320 Wed 8/27 1\2 NL -330 Fri 8/29 1/2 NL -400 Wed 9/3 1/2 NL +300 Frustrating. Can't string together 10 wins. Been a goal of mine all year.

Even have in my notes for one sesh (lost a $500 pot to a one outer). The bad beats and coolers have been rediculous. But I got my hours and can relax as I got my tourney entry reserved. It's pretty hard to go work for $10 an hour when you know that you can make $500 and up in one night pretty easy. I've had 2 cash sessions this year that were over $1k. It's like a casino. They can have a losing day, or even a losing month, but if they are always on the good side of the odds, eventually they make money. Hourly should pick up a lot this winter when the tourists come to town. If I cash in the $25k (which is pretty much free, I earned my way in) my hourly could tripple. See the bolded; thanks for defining "risky" for us. Look, I enjoy gambling, but I view it for what it is -- a chance at an endorphin high if you win a big pot. You continually position it as a "job" though. Well, as a job, you are making $4 per hour. 4. dollars. per. hour. You might want to consider a career change to something that doubles your salary like... any legal job?
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 $4 an hour over 2 1/2 months of summer in Tucson. Now keep in mind, I had to win enough to cover the rake and tips. I'm not a jerk. I tip almost every hand I win. Add those up and my winrate increases a lot. Also, whether you decide to believe my doctors, that I have spinal stenosis, or not ... there is nothing I can do about that. The MRI proves it. There are certain jobs I can't do. i can't work at 7/11. I can't stand in one spot for 45 minutes not to mention 8 hours. I once hurt my back when I was a teacher, lecture went too long. Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 On the year it's much higher. I bought a car, took a trip to Vegas, paid off my credit card and have $6k in cash.

Remarkably there are jobs that don't require extended standing. Or sitting, which I thought was a complaint you've had in the past. Google "spinal stenosis dr sarno". Here is a good read from that search: http://northamericanspine.com/blog/stenosis-of-the-spine-pain-is-all-in-your-head/ You have obvious psychological issues. I don't think you actually want to be cured, and I also think you consider yourself too "smart" to look into such solutions. So hey, enjoy your $4/hour job and back pain. Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Well, it's spinal stenosis AND bulging, degenrative disk ... ya know, according to the MRI. So, it's not ALL in my head. I know the exact moment I first injured my back because I broke my leg at the same time. Sitting for long periods of time is hard for me too. Part of why I have made the move from tournament to cash game. I never sit for longer than about 45 minutes at a time and it doesn't cost me anything but comp hours to take a break and walk around. Come back to my seat, and all my chips are still there, I can re-enter for $1 or wait until it's my BB. i usually pay the dollar.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 I am not on disability, and not currently in the application process for disability. I am smart enough I can make money playing cards. It also helps that my parents are rich. Isn't that the American way? Be proud of me that I'm doing something. My Dad is.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 I forgot this one ... last night, I am playing, and a guy walks behind me, knocks over some guys hot coffee, which splashes up on my back, soaks through my shirt and burns me. Things have just, not been going well, but I it wont last forever.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Also, because I don't "work" much, the state provides me with foodstamps and healthcare. So, you could add that to my hourly as well. 7-11 does not have benis.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Did I tell you guys that a poker dealer called me a "genius" last Sunday? I came into the poker room and was waiting for a game, watching NFL games, he knows my whole story, and no real stars have gone off yet, Allen Hurns is at the top of the leaderboard, and I said, "ok. I started Hurns in one league." and he thought I was full of it. "you started Allen Hurns?" ... In the flex, yeah, there's a whole thread about it in the mange bored. "You're a genius." That's pretty good when a poker dealer that has seen you play hundreds of hours of poker, calls you a genius. Geniuses don't work at 7-11.
The Moz 69 Posted September 14, 2014 U should play on line. Then ya don't even have to leave the house and you can play .25/.50 and play 8 tables at a time. On line people actually play alot tighter than live and even .25/.50 games play out more like a 5/10 game live and you play 8 tables at a time. If you are as good as you say you are you should make a killing here
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Same poker dealer asked me once, "Do you have a job, or do you ... do this for a living?" "Both." I responded.
The Moz 69 Posted September 14, 2014 Same poker dealer asked me once, "Do you have a job, or do you ... do this for a living?" "Both." I responded. 1-2 (1 table) is NOT a job it's a hobby unemployed people have.

If you are as good as you say you are you should make a killing here You should read the current thread on 2 plus 2. Live grinder or internet reg. The results are skewed towards the internet reg, of course because this is a poll on the internet. But a lot of live grinders, like myself make some very good points. "It's like that scene in the Perfect Storm when they ask the captain why he is sailing to the Flemish Cap, 'because that's where the fish are." That's why I play live. There are still some bad live players.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 1-2 (1 table) is NOT a job it's a hobby unemployed people have. You missed the part where I said I had another job. It just doesn't pay as well as "gambling".
The Moz 69 Posted September 14, 2014 You missed the part where I said I had another job. It just doesn't pay as well as "gambling". a "real" job can't beat 4 bucks an hour................ sure it's isn't a Yob - picking fruit with the messicans. If you want poker as a job and you are decent play on line -- sooner or later your Mom isn't going to be there for you to mooch off of.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 I have played online. I once won a tournament on FT that had like 7300 entrants. I don't mean I cashed, I mean I took first place. Was a freeroll, took about 8 hours and think I won $25. Still, that's a pretty good accomplishment. I think I am still on sharkscope for FTP and Stars ... Architoothus was my user name. I play under that same name on NLOP.com still. If you have never played a single hand of online poker for real money .... you probably suck at poker. I'll agree with that. Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 I guess I am old school though, I can do chip tricks and cut a deck of cards with one hand. The game, on a computer is a simulation of the live game. The real game.
Giants Fan 85 Posted September 14, 2014 Anybody who has ever played cards with me, directly in heads up, be it Gin or Poker, or whatever, eventually wont play me anymore. Not because I am a jerk when I win, but because I just win too often. Some guys I play poker with ... still need to learn a lesson. They may be good ... see me as challenging, kinda pissing me off ... making things harder on me. Just pick on a weaker player, please ... yer making this harder than it needs to be. Stressing me out. Magnificent Bastard 190 Posted September 14, 2014 You are weak and useless. But I find you interesting. You are the kind of guy who gets killed by his platoon in war. But you would be a character back at the base. You disgust me as an American man. But I always read your posts.
