edjr 5,556 Posted March 29, 2017 https://www.yahoo.com/news/couple-arrested-trying-sell-baby-152513002.html A Tennessee couple was arrested last week after allegedly trying to sell their infant on Craigslist. According to the Greene County Sheriff's Office, John David Cain, 26, and Deanna Lynn Greer, 37, told a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation official they wanted $3,000 for the baby after posting an ad last week. Watch: Couple Tries to Sell 3-Month-Old Baby for Drug Money, Cops Say An undercover TBI agent reportedly arranged to meet the couple Friday afternoon at a Dollar General store, where authorities say Cain and Greer were paid the asking price in cash before allegedly handing over the 5-month-old. Cain and Greer were subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect or endangerment. According to the arrest warrant, the couple "did knowingly place the child in threat of serious danger, bodily injury or death by selling the child to an unknown person." Greer is due in court April 7 and Cain’s date was set for the following day. That's going to be a tough one to recover from. How does the judge let these focks out on bond? mighty_thor 115 Posted March 29, 2017 How can you charge them with aggravated child neglect or endangerment? The chances of that kid getting a more dangerous or neglectful set of parents was close to zero.

GobbleDog 816 Posted March 29, 2017 How does the judge let these focks out on bond? I doubt society is at risk of these people selling people's babies. I never understood why Michael Jackson's doctor after being arrested was given no bond with the judge saying "you're a menace to society". What was he going to do? Accidentally over-dose lots of other people on propofol? Ridiculous. Meanwhile, some judges set bond for people with charged with serious violent crimes and murder. Makes no sense. frank 2,144 Posted March 29, 2017 I can imitate the guy saying it, but can't think of it, where is this from? Price. A fair price. That's not what you say it is, and it's not what I say it is... It's what the market will bear. Now there's people - and I know 'em - who'll pay a lot more than $25,000 for a healthy baby. Why, I myself fetched $30,000 on the black market. And that was in 1954 dollars.

wiffleball 4,638 Posted March 30, 2017 I've been reading a lot about this online. TONs of controversy. Seems like people come down pretty hard on one side or the other. And God Forbid someone take a moderate POV. But of Course Not. People STILL can't seem to agree whether the 'buyer' should have gotten the Extended Warranty or Not. Hardcore troubadour 12,626 Posted March 30, 2017 Half of the child births in the U.S. Are paid for by Medicare. Think about that, half of the kids born here are to parents that can't afford them. What does that say for the future? We better come up with a disincentive for poor people to have kids instead of incentivizing it. I don't know what people think is going to happen with these kids down the line. We are going to have the highest child poverty levels since the Great Depression. Crime will come back like a firestorm this time, amongst other things.

Just doing a cost benefit analysis, giving these broads 2500 a year to not get knocked up probably pays off 10 fold in the long run.

Oh, I would set up a program where the pill, shot, IUD, or vasectomy are free of charge. No wait, come on down. Would cost us a nickel to save trillions. And would lessen they abortion issue quite a bit too.

wiffleball 4,638 Posted March 30, 2017 Since SS is going tiits up anyway, I think it'd be great it we had a one-time deal where say, this generation (say 11-30) is rendered impotent via aerosol or whatever delivery method that was sure to cycle out in one generation. Peeps could still have kids - just adopt them - the Earth has plenty to spare. And then, when the ten years olds are ready to breed, we're back to status quo. Consider it a decade-long retrenchment. Just think about it - we give the Earth a nice respite. Certainly needs one. We help out the job market. We help to mop up the extra unwanted / unsupported kids. And, whatever we lose in tax revenue collection, we likely save in entitlement/social program output. And, among other things, we also help out prison overcrowding, traffic, ridiculous home pricing, etc. Face it, for those of us old enough to remember the projections, AIDS was supposed to do much of the above, but failed miserably. Hey, the alternative is war. What I propose is much much better.

These People continue to bring children into this world who are behind the 8 ball form jump. We have to go beyond abortion at this point. We have to take away the incentive and possibly reward them for not doing so. Again, half of the kids in the U.S. Are being born into poverty. That is not a good outlook
