Ray_T 587 Posted June 22, 2017 5 years, 125 mil. 25 Mil per year. Unbelievable. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000816968/article/raiders-derek-carr-finalize-5year-125m-extension
giraldi02 470 Posted June 22, 2017 Smart move by the Raiders imo. Now he sets the bar before guys like Stafford and Matt Ryan get their contract extensions. That's why if I were the Bucs or the Giants, I would be extremely proactive getting extension talks going for Evans and OBJ, respectively. Whomever signs last is going to want more. Super Cubs 132 Posted June 23, 2017 Good for him. Really wish the Texans were not scared of the Carr name and would have drafted him.
Kent 228 Posted June 23, 2017 Just made it harder to sign Kirk Cousins.
polecatt 399 Posted June 23, 2017 Just made it harder to sign Kirk Cousins. Lol, that's why they should have done that long ago
Ray_T 587 Posted June 23, 2017 Lol, that's why they should have done that long ago I dont think anyone disagrees with the fact that they made a mistake in waiting. This is the sort of thing that should get a GM fired....... Hmmmmmmm

Kent 228 Posted June 23, 2017 Just a ridiculous move by the Redskins. Whatever he gets paid, he won't deserve it. Carr is a superior QB in every way.

Djgb13 2,338 Posted July 1, 2017 I really am looking forward to see if Carr can turn things around for the Raiders. Last season was great and it was a shame he got injured. Hopefully Lynch will help out the run game for them and we can see if Carr has matured more. I've been wanting to draft a Raiders receiver again this year (had Crabtree last year) since it worked out well

I've been wanting to draft a Raiders receiver again this year (had Crabtree last year) since it worked out well Oh I think it's already turned around. Saw that idiot focking LaDanian Tomlinson say the Raiders need to "take the next step." What a focking clown. GREAT RB, dunce for an analyst. So basically they went 12-4, and it's not a stretch to say if their QB doesn't go down they contend for the AFC Title. How do you work hard and take the next step from that? How are injuries a controllable factor? And at the beginning of 2016 he said Oakland "wouldn't make the playoffs." What a clueless idiot.

I never heard the comment, but If I was talking about a 12-4 team and saying they need to take the next Step, I'd be referring to success in the playoffs. and I dont think any raiders fan would disagree. Raiders fans want them to not just have a successful regular season, they want a successful postseason as well. a top end regular season doesnt mean much at this point if they cannot follow it up with a good playoff run. But the important issue is anyone commenting on TV should know that. I agree. It's tough to expect the team to win when the starting QB is hurt. Like I said, I didnt hear the comment so I cant say what the context of the comment was. But I think at the start of last season, people would have been happy with this team making the playoffs. Now I think it's fair to say the bar has been set higher. People want (and should expect) a playoff team with a reasonably deep playoff run. I'd be disappointed if the Raiders did anything less. They are a very good team, and should be a legitimate contender for the superbowl over the next 2-3 years. (possibly longer if the GM manages things the way he should)
ralphster 274 Posted July 4, 2017 Reggie deservedly caught a lot of flack for some moves he made when first hired ad GM, but he had to get them out of cap hell. Fast forward a few years and it's clear the guy is good. Drafts well (mack/carr), deft w signing good FAs (tree), knows when to let someone walk (latty). He should get more credit than he does. Its always the pioneers who take the hit.. This guy has done good work in Oakland. The results are showing it. I think now that the team has made the playoffs that he has a little goodwill in the bank.
TimmySmith 2,782 Posted July 6, 2017 The QB position is going to thin out over the next 4-5 years as 10-12 of the top guys are set to retire or wind down. If you have a young good one, you better pay him.
