Great political Christmas gift for friends on both sides of the aisle

Recommended Posts

Make the Party Great Again!!!

I sent a bunch of people a bottle or two of Trump wine and a Trump corkscrew the Christmas after the '16 election.

Kind of an in your face / gag gift for friends on the left. Appreciated by people on the right. I got more feedback than almost any gift I ever sent. Some people said they took a bottle to a party and it was a hit no matter who was there. A little high for a bottle of probably cheap wine but still a fun gift.

Nothing but the best Chinese grapes

Yea I am sure it is a cheap bottle of wine with a Trump label. I do not like wine so I would not know crap wine if I had some.

If youre a Trump supporter sending the gift, sure. Cant imagine many liberals would want to contribute $ to the Trump family for the sake of an ironic gift.

Agree. It was just a thought.. But the thought of a staunch liberal taking a bottle to a wine party with friends is pretty funny and a conversation starter. Plus conservatives will go to Will Farrell and Robert De Niro movies but I know that is not the same.

I was expecting some joke involving shark teeth.

You are correct. Forget the wine. That is a far better idea.

Its nice that you guys actually have physical kool aide to go with the metaphorical kind you swill.

Hey I would not actually drink the stuff. I stick to unsweet tea and Pepsi. I do it to help others.

I dont think I know who a single one of my friends voted for. Do you guys actually talk about politics with your friends? Ive always believed religion and politics should never be discussed with friends. Doesnt usually end well.

What I would expect from a guy who played a very successful businessman on TV.

I bought two of these, not as a gag gift though, I put them in my chest of "things" that I think will be worth money when I'm 50-60 y/o. I have all kinds of cool in there. Pretty much a collection of 90s/00s toys and random things.

That sucks. :(

I always worry about that happening. It is getting to the point I probably should start keeping my things in a fireproof safe.

Things that are made to be collectible are usually not worth anything. Even if this is worth something, do you really want to keep a glass bottle for 30 years so you can make $50?

Yeah I know, it is typically the things that people don't collect that are worth money. 50% of the reason is to make a small profit and the other 50% is so I can open when I'm old and take a trip down memory lane.

Never. I change the topic when something political comes up. But it is usually pretty obvious which side of the aisle people fall.

In most elections, this would translate to knowing who they voted for POTUS. Trump is a little different because even his supporters (many of them, anyway) acknowledge he is a vile human being, and as such are a little embarrassed to admit they helped him rise to power.

Several of my friends on Facebook are clear never-Trumpers. My wife's boss makes multiple comments to my wife which indicate her TDS (admittedly she is probably on the ADHD spectrum and may not get what she is saying).

Basically while you may not explicitly ask friends about their voting preference, it is hard to believe you don't have a strong sense of which way they vote.

I wish I had bought one of those Trump peace in Korea medallions. That would be cool to have years from now I think.

Were at the bar and we
Were havin' us some beers and
Swappin' I don't cares
Talkin' politics
Blonde and redhead chicks
Old dogs and new tricks and
Habits we ain't kicked

Fair enough. Granted, I dont have a Facebook, so I might be shielded from some of this. Most of my friends are into camping, motorcycles, guns, etc. just like me. So, theoretically, Id guess most of them are Republicans. I dont think that necessarily means theyre Trump guys though. I like to believe all of my friends are not registered to either party, since that would mean Im friends with a bunch of brainless hacks. :dunno:

People should not care either way. I voted for Trump but go to dinner weekly with 10 or so friends that are all Democrats that are all very active in local politics. They started the dinner as a political group during some campaign they were all working. We ran into them one night at dinner and they invited us to join them. There is just me and one other guy that are not Democrats but it is never a problem with any of us. They spend about 5% of the time talking about something political. Sometimes I chime in but usually I do not bother.

True. I avoid anything where they mass produce something and say it is a collectible. Shark teeth though...
