Who did you take Toby ahead of - and why?

Recommended Posts

Took him as my RB2 in the 3rd round of a 12 team .5 point PPR league....29th overall pick.

I'm still trying to find some reason for him to be ranked as highly as he is aside from the fact that he's got the bulk of the workload in Jax. I kinda fell for the hype. Seems all the guys I passed up for him would be better options. Passed on:

LeVeon Bell

Arian Foster

Zach Stacy

Trent Richardson

Ben Tate

Rashad Jennings

Anyone else have some buyers remorse? Why the high rankings for this guy...

Most on that list are below TG for good reason. I think you may have just took him a round too early seeing that foster was still on board who was on my DND list. I think Bell would have been where you could have gone wrong passing on him

I had to choose between him and vereen in a ppr- went with him because of more volume and lack of competition- unfortunately he's my number one because I took Peyton and two wrs early. Ugh.

I took him in 3 of 4 drafts. Clearly I saw value in his ADP. He's my #2 in one league and my #3 (flex) in the other two leagues.

In the league where's he's my #2, I took him ahead of Spiller, R Bush, Jennings, and Sankey. Spiller and Bush split too much time whereas Gerhart won't. I like Jennings (despite his horrible oline) and Sankey), but took Gerhart.

In one league where's he my #3 behind Forte and Ellington, I took him ahead of Vereen, J Bell, and Sankey. As I said, I like Sankey, just liked Gerhart better. J Bell, like R Bush, splits time. Vereen is great in PPR, which this league is, but he's too inconsistent running and I don't trust Billacheat at all!

In the league where's he's my #3 behind Murray and Stacy, I took above Jennings for the stated reason of poor oline as well as Eli looking like straight ass.

I would have taken LeVeon Bell, Foster, and Zac Stacy ahead of him. I probably also would have taken Reggie Bush, though I have him in the same tier as Bush. I'm really into Gerhart this year, but not quite that much.

The Eagles are already up 10-0 on the Jags and Toddman has come in for the passing offense.

The best backs available in my non ppr 10 team keeper draft were sankey and joique. No way i was taking either ahead of gerhart. I drafted him in the 4th out of the 4th slot. Gerhart will be involved in the pass game to go along with his 322 carries.

Think you took him to high . All the other players listed above are going to much more involved in the passing game with their teams then Gerhart will be with his . J Todman will be the REC RB on the Jags .

Hmmm, not so fast my friend!

For one, Stacy is hardy involved in the pass game. He'll be lucky to top 30 catches.

Second, Gerhart will be around 40 catches. No, it's not 60+ like Charles and Forte, but 40 ain't not involved.

Careful, the winds of change are blowing in jaguar country...

took him 3.10, but he was clearly the last decent back on the board. was gonna have to settle with Gore/Jennings/Spiller/CJ1k as my RB2 if I didn't take him there.

I think he is horrible. Wouldn't touch him.

Except you claimed that Demarco Murray was horrible also. I think everyone knows whatever you write should be completely ignored.

Maybe . But i don't see that being the case with Gerhart . But you might be on track . We shall see

Lol anyone who takes Trent Richardson ahead of Gerhart is an idiot.

Talent wise that is a moronic statement. He certainly isn't horrible. He is one of the few backs that can do it all. Health is the only thing keeping him from breaking out.

Word at the exit 12 rest stop is that you do, in fact, touch him in places that a bathing suit would cover.

I got him at the end of round 5 as my flex in a ppr. owners were avoiding him like the plague so I took the plunge.

Ok, so do injury concerns matter to you at all? Do you have any concern drafting Gronk because he can't stay healthy?

Yes, the guy has skills obviously, he is in the NFL and he is on a good offense, but I don't think he is tough at all and will eventually get hurt.

Took him ahead of bush-bell (both) in a non ppr after drafting manning dez roddy as the last bell cow. He's a flex candidate in my ppr league w Tate and cordarelle.

Of course. You did not clarify your statement. Getting hurt and being tough are two different things. The guy looks for contact. He tries to run people over. Unlike Leveon Bell. Some people are just injury prone. Has nothing to do with toughness.

He played 14 games last season and ended standard league as the 8th rated back. Anyways, if healthy he could easily be top 5. But that is a big if.

Getting hurt(not acl tears) does have something to do with toughness. There is a reason some guys play forever and never get hurt. They probably get hurt a lot, but play thru it. I just feel like some guys don't have the heart.

...

I'd have taken Bell and Stacy over him or sure. My question though is why you reached on Gerhart when there had to be 5-6 receivers and many QBs on the board who present better value.

That's actually a good point. I had 5th overall pick and took Calvin. Felt I needed to load up on next 2 picks with RBs. Top 3 QBs were gone. Was looking at WRs like Crabtree, Fitz, and Garçon. Thought I could get that type of WR in the next round.

Bottom line- probably took Toby too soon either way. Stacy or Bell were probably better options at that spot.

He's a big, slow, physical runner who runs at a very high pad level so I like him but i don't like his chances of staying healthy entire season. If he really is bell cow then he's going to take a beating this year. He's on my DND list because of his high ADP.
