Sorry - 1%. It was falling for years before he took over.

Are there other accomplishments Im missing? You guys act like these results are so staggering we can only get them if we elect a toddler who pays hush money to horsefaced hookers. Thats the price we pay for outside the box ideas like tax cuts and deficit spending.

No problem, you only cut it slightly more than half the actual amount.
Dont mind the trade agreements and deregulation that brought companies and jobs back to America. Trump only waived a magic wand for that.

I just glanced at a transcript. It doesn't list names beside the questions, but.........it looks like Trump talked for a long time, then when he went to questions, Acosta was 4th or so out of the 50-60 people he took questions from.  It's somewhat difficult to be 100% sure because the questions don't have names beside them, but it seems obvious which ones were the same person asking a follow up, etc.

https://chicago.sunt...dterm-election/

That said, how quickly he went to Acosta isn't the main point. I don't think very much of Trump's intelligence, but I do think he knows exactly how to bate the media (in this case CNN).... and I think this CNN story has been good for him this week, as it has gotten more coverage than others that may not play as well with his base.

you know acosta didnt ask a question to begin with, right ? He gave his biased fake news opinion on a situation.
That is not the job of the press.

Ive read a bunch of anecdata about companies coming back. Going by unemployment weve got a 1% improvement - yippie. Meanwhile real wages are down and we are running a trillion dollar deficit.

What is Trump going to hang his hat on when unemployment goes up again? The border wall and healthcare policy he never rolled out?

One percent of of 325,000,000 is 3+ million people working that weren't before. One percent is a large number when you are talking about that high of a population. What would have been good for you? 5%? 2%? I don't think you understand how impossible that would be.

5% would be 16,000,000 which is nearly the population of Florida.

Even if those are all low paying jobs at 25k a year that is an extra 81 billion dollars.  You're just a hater.

I hate the deficit issue, always have, I really appreciated Clinton's efforts to fix that back in the 90's.

I would not dwell too long on real wages, the types of jobs being added can impact this measure, and it is more typical to add lower wage jobs at first.

The deficit is a big problem.

Unemployment numbers are great right now. To say that 1% is not material is silly. It is a big number.

The problem we will have is that there is going to be a correction like we had in 2008-2009 that is coming at some point. Whether we are able to withstand that is going to be affected by our deficit because we still have all of that debt service.

In looking at changes that have happened over the last couple of years, we just have to hope that the good things are here to stay and that the negatives are just short-term. I still think that our spending vs. revenue is bad regardless of how good the economy is doing and it is going to bite us in the ass really hard.

Was unemployment dropping for years before Trump took office? Are real wages stagnant despite Trump handing out millions in corporate tax breaks?

Simple yes / no answers will do.

If CNN somehow wins this court case, I'll drive through Detroit looking in dumpsters until I've rounded up three dozen homeless  people with mental disorders, sign them up at footballgays, make one post, and have them all apply for White House press passes.

You may want to read the things I've posted earlier before going all in on this stance.   HTH.

If Obama wants to take credit for the unemployment rate, then maybe GW should take credit for it, because things were going in the right direction until the Dems took congress.  In 2001, Bush's first full year, we had 9/11 and the unemployment rate was a 5.7%.  It went up to 6.0% in 2002 and from then until 2006 (when the Dem's took over the house and senate), it went down every year.  The Dems limited what Bush was able to do and unemployment went up.  For the most part, under Bush, the inflation rate averaged around 3%.  When Obama took over, the unemployment rate jumped on almost 10% and the inflation rate got to as high as 3% (after being around 1.5% over the prior couple years [average]).  Something of note, welfare recipients SKY ROCKETED during this time frame.  So, what happened in 2012 to make the numbers come down, the Republicans took over the house and senate and blocked the garbage that Obama was doing.  There really weren't any policies Obama put in place that helped the economy, it was the Republican house and senate that stopped him from destroying the country.

Welfare is at it's lowest in 50 years.  https://abcnews.go.c...id=96074&page=1

The number of people on food stamps has fallen.  https://www.newsweek...cipation-640500

Unemployment is around 3.5% with the inflation rate is around 2%. (others have posted links for this)

Stock market is up (that's obvious to everyone).

Unfilled jobs is at an all-time high.  https://www.washingt...m=.b09b0e959b01

Since 2000 (when opened jobs were being tracked), this is the first time that there have been more jobs available than people on unemployment. http://www.latimes.c...0605-story.html

Under Trump, there currently isn't a need for people to unemployed.

They're pretty close to that already.

Trump does even less than gwb i believe.

I wrote about the 'open outcry' somewhere. I wouldn't do it either.

But I would do maybe a weekly one on one with rotating press.

You're going to have to provide a link, because he's actually done MORE than Obama or Bush and is way more accessible than Obama or Bush ever was.  On top of that, he'll typically hang around until all questions are answered and even prompt reporters if they have any more questions.

He only deserves some credit for the economy and on most other issues we arent close to where weve been in the past. Ok

If the economy had made some sudden huge jump or acceleration during his tenure so far, then he deserve a lot more credit. But just sitting in the same bus seat of a bus that's already going 75 miles an hour doesn't really mean diddly ######.

In fact, in order to keep it going, Trump is incurred a record deficit and is falsely feeding the market with that deficit by paying various American Industries 12 billion dollars to make up for Trump's failed economic Wars.

I hope you'll be so anxious to assign Trump credit when his policies really start to settle in.

Do you have links for this stuff? Because maybe when Obama came in and the economy was having its second worst period In history, but I'd be very surprised to see the numbers you're talking about being for example, 2014 or 2015.
