Do you ever substitute chicken breast for thighs?

Recommended Posts

This was the first time I have ever cooked boneless chicken thighs. I marinated them for about a day and then cooked them. Holy hell. This is the juiciest piece of chicken I have ever had. Almost too juicy. If the price isn't too high, I may never go back to breast

Always. Chicken thighs are cheaper and much tastier. Especially with all of the Asian food my wife (36c) cooks.

Thighs are great. You don't even need to marinate them. I made a baked chicken and rice casserole recently. I'll add the recipe later.

Thighs are fine but I always prefer breasts no matter what. Yea yea thighs have more flavor, whatever.

Breast and thighs are 2 different pieces of meat - different cooking techniques for each.

Typically prefer thighs (both boneless and bobe-in) to breasts. Usually only use breasts when sauteing or pan searing. Will cut in half and pound until thin.

Slow cooking bone in thighs and drums now on the grill.

I'll smoke thighs but not breast, the breast dries out easily.

Yep. Thighs have more fat of course, hence the better taste. You need to be OK with the higher fat, which of course I am because I know that fat is fine and carbs are the debbil.

Yeah...when I make chicken chili or soup I add both.

Great on the grill with the bone as well.

Thighs, small can of Mandarin oranges or pineapple tidbits, teriyaki sauce straight from the jar, handful of cashews or your favorite nuts period bake in glass baking dish for an hour at 3:50. Last 10 minutes chop up and put in whatever vegetables you like. Serve over your favorite rice.

Taste like the Chinese food that you get in take out that you know is bad for you but taste good. But this actually isn't that bad for you. And it's a lot cheaper and better.

No.

Neither my wife nor I like to eat chicken. We eat fried chicken once a month and that is about it, usually from a place like Popeyes or KFC.

I like deep fried chicken, but that is the only way I like to eat chicken and since it is unhealthy....

One of my many strange tendencies.

I do. Might give it a shot.

I tried it and it was pretty darn tasty. :)

You do need to like onions and garlic, which my wife and I do.

Definitely include the mushrooms.

Only criticism is it yields A LOT of rice. Guess it depends on how many people you're feeding but I'll probably try to halve the recipe next time.

Also it was not really all that easy. Wouldn't say it was hard but you ain't making it on a weeknight.

Just don't like the flavor when it isn't fried?

Awesome. I like garlic, onions, mushrooms and rice, so this will likely be a hit.
