The guy could have handled this kid without punching her in the face. He could have restrained her with ease instead of hitting the knockout shot. Is he not capable of calling the cops to diffuse the situation? Is he not capable of walking back to his own car to ease all the tension? The couple of pushes he took to the back did not even phase his balance. He has a massive size advantage over her and is lucky he didn't do serious damage to her. The guy should have the sense at his age of 51 to not punch an 11 year old girl in the face unless it was absolutely necessary to save himself. Where was the gun, knife, or any weapon that left him with no choice but to knock her out? Sure didn't see or hear anything of the sort.

Being 11, or a female, does not give you a free pass to be violent.....nor does being 6-5 250, or being transgender or anything else.

 

Hold the guy accountable of that is proper under the law, the kids as well. Kids think they will get a free pass, its part of the reason they do not restrain their own violence, and as result never build the skills to be a functioning member of society. then people want to weep for them when they are murdered in the street.

 

I think this guy may have done the kid a favor, learning that you cannot simply imply or act out violence without repercussions is an important life lesson

It is rather easy for me to not worry about it for my kids, they have been raised properly. They also would never approach or assault a stranger outside at 11PM after buying skittles.

I teach my kids to follow the advice of police when its given to them. For example if my kids saw a suspicious person wandering through the neighborhood I would hope they would report it to the police and let the professionals handle it, instead of stalking the suspicious character and then following him on foot, needlessly instigating a confrontation. That would be irresponsible and dumb.

I don't know how he got himself into that situation and maybe he could have avoided it, but from the video provided, he was surrounded and then confronted by a girl who said "let's do it". He pushed her fairly strongly which IMO indicated "you do NOT want to fock with me." She instead came back at him fists ready. What is he supposed to do? If it was a 1 on 1 confrontation and he was trained, he could have tried to subdue her I suppose. But it wasn't 1 on 1, and anyone trained in combat will tell you that you take out the risk, on your feet if at all possible. This is one of the flaws of jiu jitsu; you don't want to go to the ground if your assailant has friends around to stomp you in the head. Knock her out and prepare for the next attack.

Are you forgetting he was literally surrounded? If he did restrained her, would the mob around him not attempt to do something about it? And sure, it didn't look like she had a weapon, but anyone in that crowd could have had a knife.

 

The fact is, you can play keyboard quarterback now and say he was in the wrong but given he had seconds to make a decision, I'd say he made the correct one.

 

In addition to that, if he is 6'5" how tall was she? 5'9"/5'10"? She definitely doesn't look 11 years old. Should he have asked for identification during the melee?
