    Advice for Commish

The Owens owner knows what he's doing, he finished 2nd or 3rd last year and lost in the playoffs.

    Advice for Commish

I'm the commish of a $ league among friends. I was offered Owens for Favre and accepted the deal because I'm very weak at WR (Evans, Santana, Djax, Roddy), and I also have Brady. The Owens owner is fed up with inconsistent play from Rivers in a league where QB scoring is pretty important (6 of the top 10 scorers are QBs). I've had a complaint that the trade is unfair. It definitely helps my team but I don't think it's really lopsided. Our league scoring 0.5 PPR and 0.25 points per completion. Favre is currently the #4 scoring QB, Owens is the #10 WR. The league rules don't allow voting on trades, so it's up to me to maintain the integrity of the league in the cases of collusion, etc (I've never vetoed a trade in the 4 years I've run the league). I don't get specific in the rules about vetoing, I just say that it the sole responsibility of the commish to veto trades, but that complaints will be heard. What do you guys think? Is this trade too lopsided? Should I veto my own trade to keep the peace? Here are the lineups: (Start QB/2RB/3WR/TE) Me (4-1): Brady, Favre Evans, Santana, Djax, Roddy Parker, Bush, ADP, Foster, Selvin Winslow Owens Owner (2-3): Rivers, Losman Gore, JJ, Wynn, Taylor Owens, Cotchery, Ward, Jennings, Henderson, Glenn Shockey, Watson

    draft strategy

There will definitely be a good running back left at the 6th spot. Gore, Addai and Parker are great picks for the sixth spot and one of them will be available. (I'm assuming LT, SJ and LJ will all be gone). Your second round could be good for a WR, there's a number of them that all have about the same value and one of them should fall to you: Smith, CJ, Harrison, TO, Holt (I like them in that order). If there was a run on WR and those guys are all gone, you should be able to get another good RB like Bush, Henry or Maroney. I'm not sure if these count as sleepers, but Coles, Santana Moss, Braylon Edwards and Cotchery are usually available late and should all finish top 25 for WR

Help convince my league to AUCTION ...

In my PPR league, the top 5 RBs are: LT: 426 LJ: 300 Westy: 280 SJAx: 270 Gore: 246 From there, there's a 5-10 point difference in RBs from one spot to the next. After the first round, you had a 126 point advantage over the 2nd pick and probably a 200 point advantage over the 12th pick. Contrast this to the 2nd round where there is only about a 50 point difference between the 13th and the 24th pick. The #1 overall comes out way ahead. The differences may be more dramatic this year than normal, but it's the same problem every year. Sometimes the top 2 or 3 or 4 will have an advantage but there will some advantage to the top picks because of the way the points are distributed across the players (i.e. a few very high scoring players and lots of average players).

Help convince my league to AUCTION ...

I'm switching my league to an auction next year. LT2 is a good example for this year of why an auction is better, the #1 pick (if they were smart) had a huge advantage over everyone else. Do you guys have any recomendations for an online auction? I had a look a this: www.fantasyauctioneer.com and it seemed ok.

    NFL Network

The analysis is actually pretty good. It was nice to see the sideline commentary (Faulk) talking run/pass strategy rather than just spouting some crap that the coach or one of the players told him before the game.

WTF? So I have NFL Network

In my case, the local station wanted to air the game. The cable company probably has some obligation to help them out. I get the game anyway so don't really care what channel I tune to.
  8. this is the funniest post i've ever read... just awesome. rasta is on fire, i'm going to have to go back and read his old posts

    Broncos vs Chiefs...Internet Broadcast?

NFL network was smart to air the thanksgiving game. Tell your mom you won't be back next year unless she gets the NFL network. Also check your local channels. I was pissed when I turned on NFL network at game time and got this message: "your local cable operator has chosen not to air this game on nfl network.... blah blah blah". It was because one of the locals is airing it.

Trade Vetoed - Fair or Unfair

As a commish, I would not allow this trade, so I think the veto is fair. And it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you will have LT and LJ, or with the fact that he's 0-8. Here's my reason, the trade doesn't help the 0-8 team, he gets a decent upgrade at starting TE and huge downgrade at starting RB. At best the trade will be a wash for him. Collusion is probably not possible to prove, but you can't let a team make a trade that hurts their team and helps the other team so much. It's not good for the league. My advice to you is this. You have a pretty good team, respect the wishes of the league and try to win it with what you have.

Why cant I add Gostkowski for Week 8?

I tried it out in my yahoo league and I'm seeing the same thing. You're right, it doesn't make any sense. If you are going to allow pickups throughout the day on Sunday, you should be able to pick up players for the monday night game as well. I looked into it a bit more, and the yahoo plus leagues have better handling for this kind of stuff (like a proper waiver wire from Sunday to Tuesday) and I'm going to be switching to that next year. With all the extras (real time stats, buzz index, etc) it seems like a good deal when you split it 12 ways. I've also heard my fantasy league is pretty good too.
