North Korea's internet has been shut down

Recommended Posts

For some reason, I can't paste anything on this website. Nor can I quote anyone. Not on my work computer. So perhaps someone else could kindly post a link to the news story.

Anyway, North Korea has ben experiencing an almost total shutdown of its internet service today. No one has cited a reason or claimed responsibility as of yet. Is this possible U.S. retribution for the cyber-hacking and threats made to Sony and our country last week?

They should unplug the modem for 45 seconds and plug it back in.

Most likely... Anonymous at work. They've issued their own threats to Sony if The Interview isn't released.

I am guessing that China is their service provider...I wonder how excruciating THAT call to the help desk is.

About a trillion to the trillionth power times better than Comcast: No answering machine and somebody that actually wants to help you gets on the phone after the first ring.

It's anonymous for sure.

That was my initial thought, but I also wouldn't be suprised if the U.S. government was involved. I'm not a conspiracy person, but what was the U.S. supposed to do? They were'nt going to start a war over it and what's left to sanction against North Korea?

Not sure I favor the U.S. government doing it, if they did. But it was either that... or Anonymous.

My take is that if it was the U.S. government, it wouldn't have happened this quickly.

It would be rather funny if the US did it.

"You hacked us??? Fine, we're cutting off your internet." :nono:

No..I was watching the Black Ops season 2 on Netflix last night and one of the episodes claimed that North Korea shut down all cell phone usage for 5 years.

don't know if it's true or nor.

Either way, good show. http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/80004155?mqso=81198655&awadgroupid=17494168810&awcampaignid=140970130&awcreative=50709766570&awdevice=c&awexpid&awkeyword=netflix%20black%20ops&awmatchtype=e&awnetwork=g&awposition=1t1&gclid=Cj0KEQiAn9-kBRDloNeUw7Pe_YwBEiQA4HXMU41wZxAZrcmo8FfyL_S7-TUeNW5511REsuG2rHo3aYkaAvn58P8HAQ

See, I think we don't want to cut thier Internet.

Remember radio free Europe, where we broadcast all the cool western music behind the iron curtain?

I think we should set up satellite high speed Internet free to North Korea. Let em all get hooked on free porn, social media, etc.

Then one day cut it off, and blame thier government.

Actually, banning cell phones in North Korea has happened before. Back in 2004, according to World Politics Review, the country banned the sale and use of cellular devices, and has resulted in the rise of a mobile black market, with relay stations set up on the Chinese border to connect North Koreans to the South.

Still don't know the validity :dunno:
