what pick is Barkley being taken in your draft in a ppr league?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering where he is being taken in ppr leagues?

I doubt many drafts have even happened yet. It's still not going to tell you much. He could go as high as 5, probably as low as 11. Most likely 8

Just went 5th in my league last night... before AB and Kamara

Whoever took him that early has high hopes for sure. Or they were just high.

Yep, every year around half the top 12 RBs bust, get hurt or fail to live up to draft status. Fantasypros publishes a great article that breaks it down going back a decade or so. They show who was at adp, how it ended up and who replaced them and why. I’d have to dig for it but it’s a fantastic article.

Found it. Please note it refers to the 2016 season, but the data goes back years and its really great. Near the beginning it shows a year by year percentage of how many RBs from the previous years adp made the top 10 at end of year rank. I think its just a great article. The year by year player by player breakdown is both informative and a fun trip down memory lane.

I can see this argument. He is a physical beast the likes of which we haven't seen since... well, maybe AP, but Barkley may be more of a beast. Problem is that it is hard to defend higher than Bell or DJ in PPR, or Gurley and Zeke as similarly physical beasts with an actual track record. AB has the benefit of being a high value draft pick at WR in a year where nobody else stands out.

12 team keeper league. He went 5th overall.

Dunno if you're redraft or not but...4 of the first 5 picks were RB. 6 of the 12 keepers were RB.

Based off those articles on Fantasy Pros, I'll make this a post predicting this season's Studs, Disappointments (Top 10 RB dropouts), and Replacements (Finishing in Top 10 RB)

The Studs

-RB Todd Gurley, RAMS

-RB Saquon Barkley, Giants

-RB Dalvin Cook, Vikings

-RB David Johnson, Cardinals

The Disappointments (most from poor team performance/QB play, some from injury/other factors)

- RB L'Veon Bell, Steelers

- RB Ezekiell Elliot, Cowboys

- RB Alvin Kamara, Saints

- RB Kareem Hunt, Chiefs

- RB Leonard Fournette, Jaguars

- RB Melvin Gordon, Chargers

The Replacements

- RB Christian McCaffrey, Panthers

- RB Derrick Henry, Titans

- RB Royce Freeman, Broncos

- RB Alex Collins, Ravens

- RB Nick Chubb, Browns

- RB Chris Carson, Seahawks

Really like that list and the replacements I can see all makin sense. A lot of the guys we expect to be sure things will let us down. Just need to make the most educated guesses possible and shoot for upside when they work out.

David Johnson is just as beastly

This is bold. Not saying you're wrong, but Kamara looked great today and Brees is targeting him a lot. The question is if he can stay healthy through the season more than if he'll produce.

If and When Bell gets signed, I still think he'll be quite productive. It does make me really happy that I traded Bell in the draft and still kept Gurley though!

Time will tell I guess, but thanks for putting this out there, I'll keep an eye on your replacements list!

Pretty insightful work here, thanks for linking. I hope he updates this article for next year. His table with the flags and possible breakouts is spot on.
