Philadelphia was up there Castaway was impressive too A League of their Own and Apollo 13 he was really good in. If there's any sort of critique of Tom Hanks and said he's this Generations Jimmy Stewart. I don't think it's fair or true. Except the fact that he's so damn prolific. Jimmy Stewart was a bad actor. There, I said it. And it's a wonderful life is horribly overrated and saccharine sweet to the point of being cloying. Just horribly acted across the board. And I swear to God I would JonBenet Zuzu in a heartbeat. But back to the point. Somebody like Johnny Depp wood totally put a weird spin on Forrest Gump. Others would play it like a Coen Brothers film. While still others would play it way too schmaltzy. oddly, the only one that I would have liked to have seen in that role otherwise would be Robin Williams. But I'm not sure that point in his career he could have been restrained enough for the role. Really took a Deft hand to play Forrest Gump. And Tom Hanks nailed it.
