Week 14 Streaming QBs

Recommended Posts

There are a lot of intriguing options available in my league and probably others. I'm currently rostering Ryan and Orton, but guys like Manziel, Kaep (just hit the wire), McCoy, Mettenberger, Bridgewater, Fitz, Eli (not in my league), etc are out there. Here's my opinion on most:

Ryan - plays much worse away and @ GB specifically is no picnic. However, he might have the highest floor of anyone (all double digit weeks in my league) and will have to throw all game. Slight bump for prime time game too?

Orton - Good matchup, but can you really trust him in the playoffs? Obviously he's a better option if Watkins plays, and I wouldn't even consider Orton if Watkins can't go. Like Ryan, he will have to throw all game. Could be some garbage pts to be had.

Manziel - The only reason I see anyone playing him is if Vontae Davis doesn't play, which is possible. But I really don't understand the hype he's getting for this week. He is a complete question mark with, IMO, a low floor & ceiling. I'm facing Gordon this week, so should Davis not suit up, I may ponder picking him up to offset any monster game Gordon might have,

Kaep - He's been more awful than Oakland has been against the pass. If SF gameplans around his running ability, I love him this week. But with how retarded their play-calling has been, that's a big IF. I think he has a high floor, but the high ceiling may be a mirage. If you're strong at other positions, he's available, and you need a steady 15-20, he is probably your guy.

McCoy - Maybe the most overlooked option this week. He has strung together some really good FF numbers in his starts. Yes, he's turnover prone. Yes, STL's defense is getting better by the day. Keep track of D-Jax's injury status. He may be the key to McCoy's value this week. But I think McCoy is the sleeper pick of the week. I just don't know if I have the guts to go after him.

Mettenberger - Giants defense is awful. He won't get you 40, but I think he has a safe floor. On my radar but the AC joint injury is a tad worrisome.

Bridgewater - Pass. Jets pass D has improved some as of late, and I don't think he has enough playmakers to make a splash.

Eli - Titans D is awful. Normally I'd be scared of touching the INT machine in the playoffs, but I think he's a fairly safe play. But then again right when you think that he'll give you 5 pts. Medium risk, high reward.

Fitzpatrick - Torn on this one. You're definitely chasing pts, but I don't see him having a horrible game either. Jaguars D is really starting to click, but I think Houston D dominates more and allows their offense a lot of time of possession. Whether all the scoring goes through Foster or not is another story. I personally wouldn't let my fate rest in his hands, but you could do worse.

in the same situation....I currently have Ryan and Eli and trying to pick up Manziel....right now Im probably leaning towards Eli due to the matchup but Ryan could be playing catchup all night with GB and be forced to throw a ton, what will the weather by like though?

Fitzpatrick was just over a week ago a back up QB . Now everyone wants this guy . No luck in fantasy football just bad moves

Yeah, well my current QB1, Dirty Sanchez, is going up against a Seattle D which has allowed a grand total of 1 passing TD over the past four games and currently has a three game passing TD shutout streak. No thanks. My back-up is Michael Vick. ( I had Foles and RGIII at some point this season) . Fitz is starting to look better, right?

Going into Round 1 of the playoffs with Matt Ryan, Mettenberger, and looking to pick up Manziel or Fitzpatrick. I have no trust in starting Ryan in Green Bay, so I will be interested to see reports on Mettenberger's shoulder and how Manziel practices this week. I just need those 15-20 points!!

I own Wilson but I'm not married to him. He has Eagles and SF the next two weeks. I have a bye this week but week 15 against SF is not appealing. I may pick up Colt McCoy v Gmen in week 15.

I play in a 2QB league and my QBs are Sanchez, Flacco and Hill. Semi-finals of playoffs and terrible week to play Sanches against Seahawks but at least it is at home. I don't teust Flacco on the road, especially in what should be a low-scoring, physical, grind it out game in Miami. I don't really trust Hill either, but the Skins are so bad that I will likely roll the dice.

As I mentioned above, Seattle hasn't allowed a passing TD in three games. Also, I think they're the kind of defense that can take advantage of Sanchez's limited skills. I see three INTs in his future.

hmmm... that's not good... although those 4 teams had the utmost of inept QBs at the helm with KC, NYG, Ari, and SF... not that sanchez is much better... but at least the game is at home

SEA is gonna eat Sanchez alive. Avoid at all costs.

Sanchez will still get his at home in that offense. There are better options but there are far worse as well.

I'd avoid Sanchez and would even start Eli or Orton over him this week.

Without hesitation I would start either of them over Sanchez.

i'm not as worried about sanchez as i once was... i did a little research, and the stat line for opposing QBs isn't that bad when SEA is on the road

@SD 287 yards 3TDs/0 INT

@WAS 283 yards 2TDs/0 INT

@STL 155 yards 2TDs/0 INT

@CAR 171 yards 0TDs/ 1INT

@KC 106... 0....0

@SF 102.... 0...2

this actually isn't too bad when you consider the craptastic group of QBs that they have faced (other than rivers)... it may bite me in the ass, but i think sanchez is good for 250 and 2TDs... especially since this offense is geared up and pass happy

Sure could be, but what are your other choices? Also remember that SEA forgot they have a D for a while there, and lately seem to be remembering...

it's between Cam and the dirty.... or take a gamble on fitzy... although i think they all end up in the same pile... 14-18 pts...

i suppose sanchez could totally implode, though....

I'd play Cam in any match up where the opponent doesn't defend TE well - and I don't think NO is good enough on D to stop CAR from putting up 24 points.

I think I'd play Cam against NO were I you - though I've never been a fan of Cam.

I'm actually considering Cam over Romo (in a league that doesn't penalize anything), but the "no penalties" part is important.

NO actually defends TEs decently when they gameplan for them (I don't think they had Gresham at the top of their threat list); they are ranked #2 in DVOA against TEs and give up about the fewest points. Olsen had a poor game against them at home, and I think they challenge Cam to beat them without K.Benjamin or Olsen available.

menace's word of caution:

I know Fitz had some game last week and is playing the lowly Jax team this week, but be cautious. If you are expecting 25 or more, you might want to lower your expectations. I'm thinking 15-20 will be more reasonable. I think Houston may want to run it down their throats more much like the Giants did with Jennings last week.

I'm more concerned about week 15 qbs:

Wilson v. SF scares me

Sanchez v. Dallas after 10'days of rest and preparation this time

Or should I pick up

Fitz v. Indy, who just let Colt McCoy throw for 400

Eli manning facing Washington

Who do you guys like or dislike, and why?

I think Eli's' ceiling is higher, but his floor is lower. I would stick with The Sanchize vs. DAL in a high scoring game, unless you think that the team you're facing is superior, at which point I would go with Eli for the potential 400 yds + 4 TDs that he can do, and IMO Sanchize cannot.

Thanks. Yeah, Eli's ceiling is higher but so is the risk. Thus, the weekly big fantasy football question that has to be decided- do you play it safe or do you go for that higher risk higher reward player?

To Eli or not to Eli? That is the question. (By the way, I do believe Dallas will be much better prepared against Philly. They said after their Thanksgiving game they did not have any time to prepare against this unusual offense. I agree.)

I have Romo against the Bears, and I am not at all comfortable with him after the egg he laid on Thanksgiving.

I picked up Kaepernick who has been mainly a punchline, but he is going up against Oakland who makes every QB look like Steve Young.

I'll probably keep in Romo as my Bears defense is pretty worthless.

I also have to decide whether to keep in Brandon Marshall who has been decidedly mediocre most weeks or replace him with Landry or Andre Johnson. So many decisions. I'm pretty much guaranteed to pick the wrong guys.
