Handgun Shooting Solution. Ish

Recommended Posts

So I was just brainstorming thinking of outside-the-box solutions for well you know.

What are some of the major points when we talked about shootings and gun violence?

Guns stolen from parents or from perfectly legal responsible owners.

Guns taken to schools and churches and malls to inflict major damage.

Yet, guns can be a legitimate deterrent for home defense.

How about this?

Digital firing pins. Much like a garage door opener, the gun only works within X yards of the designated gun safe, docking mechanism.

Still doesn't solve kids getting past the safe code and killing themselves or others @ home.

So..you combine with existing smart grip technology.

AND,or,

Allow primary owner to disable firing remotely when he,she is gone.

Provide tax, purchase incentives to help cycle out the older guns over time.

I mean, we basically have all this technology right now.

I don't know anybody who would oppose it. Gun manufacturers would get the chance to sell even more guns as people upgrade their weaponry. State and local governments have Less messes to clean up. etc

Pretty much the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the Sandy Hook denier whack-job who claims that the UN has all the override codes and can shut down everybody's guns remotely.

But you're always going to have those types.

Thoughts?

Would work for shootings outside the home, assuming you could get the bazillion guns already out there updated. But Im betting many gun owners wouldnt trust the process.

And a lot of undesirable shootings occur in the home - domestic disputes, etc.

Lastly, guns are extremely unlikely to be used for self defense. We shouldnt be promoting this myth in any context.

I think you would see a tiny fraction of gun owners even adopt a biometric trigger lock. Like less than 10%.

And frankly I get it. If you are a person who believes surrounding yourself with guns is necessary, I wouldnt trust the technology either.

I mean the focking fingerprint scanner on my focking iPhone works maybe one time in ten. And that is attached to a damn computer.

Lastly, lastly, guns are extremely unlikely to get used in schools. We shouldn't worry about this.

Biometric lock? But then in the movies when the bad guy drops his gun, the good guy cant just pick it up and use it on him

Will the guns flooding over the unsecured southern border be outfitted with these biometric upgrades? We want to make sure that criminals are obeying our laws.

Hate to roon a white scaredy-tale,but:

The overwhelming majority of guns used by Mexican gangs for instance come from a pipeline that often times starts in Indiana Walmarts.

That is how the disastrous operation Gunrunner otherwise known as fast and furious came to be.

Bullet proof clothing for school age children.

Nobody said school is supposed to be fun.

They've already got backpacks like this. That would not surprise me.

Talk to Obummer. He's the one who provided many of those guns to the cartels.

I make a fortune at NASCAR events selling 2D printed guns.

I read your Scientific American article by the way, there are more holes in that than a target after a shotgun blast. I wouldn't hold that out as your holy grail of gunz is bad. :dunno:

Not a holy grail, but it summarizes the primary data well, almost all of which I’ve linked. Feel free to provide evidence based counter arguments.
