Can someone explain ESPN's standard trade settings?

Recommended Posts

Little confused on something if someone can please explain this...So I changed the standard trade settings in my league that I am the League Manager of. I left the trade review period for 2 days but then I switched the the votes required to veto trade from 4 to "LM only vetoes". Now in the question mark box for trade review period it says:

NOTE: If 'LM Only Vetos' is selected, the trade will process when the league manager makes a ruling, regardless of the total review time that has passed. This setting can be changed at any time during the season.

So I proposed a trade to someone and he just accepted it at 7:50 PM on Oct 21. Now I know I still have to approve it as LM but on my team page it says:

Trade will process on Oct 23 at approximately 8:00 PM (ET)

Now I know that's the two days from now but why is it almost implying that it will be processed automatically from that wording if I don't get to doing the LM approval or denial before that point? Obviously I'm never going to wait two days on this kind of stuff to make a decision but up in the note earlier from the settings it says the trade will process when the LM makes a ruling regardless of the total review time that has passed. Yet this wording makes it seem like it will process in two days despite my ruling in two days if I let it get to that point?

Confused? Does this mean any future trades for other teams too that have agreed on it from their end will process regardless of whether I accept or veto it before the deadline? Because that wording from the settings didn't make it seem like that would be the case....

Too long a post to read through but from what I skimmed through here's the gist. The league manager can force the trade through before the date stated, or it will go through on the date specified assuming it doesn't gather enough league member veto votes.if you want the players tomorrow you can have your league manager uphold the trade, and it will be processed immediately. The only way he can't do that, is if a player involved in the trade played on Thursday.

If you uphold the trade it goes through right away, if you veto it goes away right away, and if you do nothing it goes through in two days.

I'm confused too, 6 games into the season I signed up for a league and the manager changes the rules?

I just had this situation. Brutal is correct. League manager can uphold the trade and it goes through immediately.

You guys aren't reading my post correctly. And no, I'm not being unfair changing the rules. All my members are regulars and they don't care. We didn't even know the specific trade settings.

Can someone please answer my question? We don't do votes. Why would it still go through automatically in two days whether I have approved or vetoed it if ESPN says specifically If 'LM Only Vetos' is selected, the trade will process when the league manager makes a ruling, regardless of the total review time that has passed.

If I do nothing, why would it still go through automatically? The message clearly says it will process when the league manager makes a ruling regardless of the total review time that has passed? We don't do owner votes, it's only LM ruling.

So your wondering why the trade would go through if the LM does nothing? Are the two teams supposed to wait forever for the LM to make a decision? LM has two days to make a decision otherwise it goes through. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

No, you aren't understanding me. I'm not saying I would ever let it get to 2 days....I'm just asking what would happen if it ever did hypothetically. I'm just asking how the system works. I'm saying why would it still go through automatically in 2 days if the ESPN message in trade settings specifically says "if LM only vetos is selected, the trade will process when the league manager makes a ruling, regardless of the total review time that has passed". That is sounding like even if I didn't make a ruling by the total review time passed, nothing would go through until I make a decision?
