Stubhub

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, while I was looking for my ku tickets I came across two lower level chiefs season tickets with parking pass for $550. I jumped on it, then a couple hours later the sale was cancelled and they gave me a $55 credit. Today they tell me the seller undervalued the item. Now it's online for $2k.

Should I be upset at all?

Trying to milk it:

Akeem G.: You are now connected with Akeem G.

Akeem G.: Hey Chad, I'll be more than happy to look at this for you and help in any way I possibly can.

Chad: Thanks you, did you receive my order number?

Akeem G.: Sure, Before we begin, for security purposes, could you please verify the default email address associated with your StubHub account for me?

Chad: Cmh6476@yahoo.com

Akeem G.: Thanks for that information.

Akeem G.: I am seeing where these tickets were not priced properly by the seller as they may not understand how the system works and they would've been drastically under priced.

Akeem G.: I totally understand you were looking forward to using these tickets though it would have been unfair to the seller to have these tickets being sold for a way lower value.

Chad: I could sell an antique valued at $1,500 at a garage sale at my home for only $25 and find out later I undervalued the item. There's no protection once a sale has been agreed to.

Akeem G.: I totally get that, from what I understand however the seller is relatively new to Stubhub and wasn't aware on how the system works.

Akeem G.: We have sent you a full refund to your account which should be reflected within 5 business days.

Akeem G.: You can go ahead and make a repurchase then.

Akeem G.: On the website.

Chad: I just don't see it being real fair that I purchased the tickets, and then the seller decides to up the price and post the tickets again at a higher price. Is this a standard practice for stubhub to allow?

Akeem G.: I totally see where you'd feel cheated. The seller made a small mistake with listing the tickets, what they would have made on the sale would've been far less than what the tickets are worth. We at Stubhub try to have both the buyer and the sellers best interest. Because of the error we have even went ahead and sent you a coupon for 1/10 of what your order is amounted to.

To me that mistake is worth more than $55, they should have at least gave you two tickets to one home game in KC.

yeah but how much would you pay? I'm sure they will if I pay for them. I'm not out the $550 I was going to pay, and I knew the value of this was way more. About $12 a ticket not counting parking passes for tickets worth more than $1k each not counting parking passes.

I call it fair. You made $55 bucks. The seller was protected. These are the kinds of things that keep sites like stubhub legit.

Just my opinion

Meh, I just responded and said I am going to seek legal counsel as I believe better protections could be in place to protect buyers. Maybe I can get tix to radiohead, chili peppers and a chiefs game out of the deal

Or just Midwest regional in kc :ninja:

I'd pay 550 for some kind of deal like that. It ain't like they are hurting for money :dunno:

Maybe hire Worms. I bet he could at least get you unlimited use of urinals during the KU game and a free box of popcorn.

you think so? I would think the company would need to work to protect both buyer and seller, and then work harder to explain the value of tickets before they are listed on the site

You're being a . Until you have tickets in hand the seller has the right to cancel at any time.

so is this like one of them ethical dillemas that I will answer to when I meet St. Peter. Like so did you try and screw stubhub out of a few hundred bucks worth of tickets? Regardless of whether or not they Butt focker you in surcharges and fees all those times you bought tickets, including that world series game which cost you about the same value as you might be out here.

the seller isn't out anything on this. He has his tickets listed for what he wants now. You can buy them if you want. They made good with him so he didn't get screwed. And, I'm glad for that.

On the flip, all they would likely do is offer me more credit than the $55 if I argue. If I want to buy that guy's tickets I can. Should they offer me $1450 so I can make it right with the guy? They sold me those tickets for that price then said meh, we can't do that after all.

disagree completely.

seller should have versed themselves in stubhub policies. I doubt the seller was "protected" as much as they decided to claim they misunderstood how the system worked and in actuality wanted a do-over.

if the seller forgot a 0 at the end and was looking for 5500 for season tickets, i might buy that excuse but to then relist them for 2k (that still seems cheap for season tickets), it sounds like they didnt expect them to sell that fast and had sellers remorse.

CMH's example of selling an antique for less than its worth because he doesn't know better is a good analogy.

and that is the part that gets me. You know that Stubhub isn't monitoring the original listing and the sale and saying "hey seller, you know you are way underpricing these tickets right?!?!" nope, they wait until the seller has second thoughts, after the sale, even though it was his mistake

but of course they are going to side with the seller because they get more in fees on a more expensive listing, no?

Sounds to me like perhaps he thought he was supposed to put the price per ticket, not the price for the pair?

That's what I think. He's either a moron or made an honest mistake. Shouldnt take advantage of either.

so 550 becomes 2k? if it was a price per ticket, price per pair, he would be relisting for 1100

Dude was selling them for less than they were worth, so yeah I can see stub hubs side. They want to appear to have both sides interest at heart. It's smart for their reputation.

people sell things for less than they are worth all the time. 75% of the time I buy tickets off seatgeek/stubhub that are under face value

bait and switch doesn't seem like having the buyers interest at heart. places usually have TOS in place to protect the seller from themselves
