Mobb said he had a solution he was going to implement the following year.

 

Can we get a detailed description (when a player is locked, when waiver period starts and is over, etc.,) of the whole process and pin it? Also, when will we be able to drop and pick up players before the season starts.

Here's what I read last year... I think step 4 and 5 is what I missed on the original set-up.

 

Answer: To set your league up so that Free Agents are available at all times on a First Come, First Served basis , and that Waivers are only for those players dropped and locked for X days you will need to define the following:

1. Go to the Setup > Waivers Setup > Waivers/Free Agents Setup and choose to lock dropped players for X days.
2. Enable the option "Allow owners to submit requests for recently dropped (or "locked") players separately from other players (free agents), as subject to league calendar rules?"
3. Turn on the option "Prevent Owners From Making FCFS Waivers/Free Agent Moves Between Kickoff of that player's game and the end of the last game of the week?".
4. Now, go to the Setup > Waivers Setup > Waiver Rules Calendar Setup (Remove any current waiver events defined).
5. Define the following single waiver event for the season:
Waiver Request (Locked Players) starts Kickoff Week 1, ends never.

NOTE: If you wish to have this start in preseason, simply adjust the start time for your Waiver Request (Locked Players) event to be the date you wish for these waivers to begin.

I believe that's what we always intended to try and do, because people were trying to grab replacement kickers or whatever on a Sunday morning, but they were all locked since TNF kick-off. Step 3 makes it so players lock during their individual games, until MNF ends. I'm just not sure if the players locked during the games then go immediately to FA after MNF, or if there's some sort of normal WW process for them.

 

The whole thing is so f'ing convoluted!

Yah. I think what was happening was waivers would run on Wednesday morning, and then those dropped players would get locked for 2 days or whatever. Then the rest of the players would lock on TNF kickoff. Well, after the MNF game when waivers would run, those players dropped on the previous Wednesday would immediately become free agents, so essentially nobody was ever able to put a claim on them.

I think I got the WW sorted out, based on below instructions.

 

We should have one WW period before the season starts from Sat Sep 2, ending Wed Sep 7.

 

After that it will be FCFS and players will lock at the start of their individual games and all dropped players will be on the WW for 2 days.

 

NOTE: The only thing I'm not sure of is say a player plays on Thursday and you put a WW request for him that night, will he go off waivers on Saturday (2 days) or Wednesday (2 days after all games for that week finish). We'll see how it goes. The wording of step 3 is a bit hard to follow. If I'm reading it correctly, there will be a 2 day WW period after the last game of the week (fingers crossed)

Think I got it fixed. Tested and now I'm not able to make any FCFS or WW moves.

 

WW should open Sep 2 and run until Sep 7. Then FCFS will open and players will lock at start of their games.

I haven't read this thread, so unsure where we are at......But typically we start bids and pickups before week 1. It's fun to waste half of our money based on training camp performances against cornerbacks that will work at Home Depot come week 1.

Generally we have one FAAB run before the season starts, followed by a short FCFS, before the first game on Thursday.

 

I clearly suck at setting up the WW though. Who really knows how it will all play out this year.
