  1. Looking for the IBL team from FFT. We have re-formed the group forums at the FS website. You'll still use FFT as your home base, but FS is essentially replacing FFLW as the central node. Come create a login and Coordinate with your Commish there. Draft starts 7/31

FFLW was Hacked to Death. Exists no more.

  3. Here is the team - http://www.fleaflicker.com/nfl/leagues/ ... ams/660297 A solid base for the future, IMHO, but needs a good owner to carry it to the future. Lineup: Q/R/W/T/flex1/flex2/flex3/K Q: Roethlisberger, Mariota R: Lamar Miller, Eddie Lacy, Lesean McCoy, Karlos Williams, Alf Morris W: Marvin Jones, Marcus Wheaton, Rishard Matthews, Mike Wallace T: Gary Barnidge, ASJenkins, Kyle Rudolph Rookie draft is underway right now, so don't delay! If you're interested, just "Take Over" the team. No need to wait for permission from me. Please promise to be a committed owner though, and not someone who will blow it off two games into the season! Thanks. -- Lab
  4. I ended up stacked at RB in one league, but weak at TE. Looking at this trade and feeling like I need a second opinion. Any help appreciated. My team: Q: RG3, Freeman R: Foster, Murray, MJD, Spiller, Ridley W: Harvin, Colston, Bowe, Moore, Hankerson, DHB T: Gresham PPR league, otherwise standard scoring. Start 1Q, 2R, 2W, 1T, 1R/W flex, 1W/T flex. My usual starting lineup is RG3, Foster, MJD, Murray, Harvin, Colston, Bowe, Gresham. Doing very well so far. But I could use help at TE, and maybe another solid WR too. Considering trading Ridley + DHB to another team for Witten + Titus Young. Witten likely becomes my starting TE, and Young helps me off the bench during a couple bye weeks. What do you think? Seems like I'm selling Ridley too cheap. My trade partner also has Wayne, Lloyd, and Garcon, but so far is refusing to add one of those WRs to the mix instead of Young. My trade partner also has Jimmy Graham (and really needs a RB badly), so I tried a straight-up Ridley-for-Graham swap, but that got shot down. Any ideas? Does this trade look good or bad?
  5. I've been offered a trade of Sproles for Leshoure and Hankerson. Seems like a no-brainer at first, but I'm now having second thoughts. It's a standard-scoring league, so Sproles' receptions don't really help. Only his yardage and TDs, which is doubly bad because his yardage counts only if he exceed 50 yards receiving or rushing (not combined). On the other hand, Leshoure and Hankerson are pretty risky plays themselves. FWIW, all of these players (even Sproles) would spend most of their time on my bench. McFadden & Charles are my clear RB1 & RB2, and I've got J-Stew as a backup in case one of them gets hurt. So Sproles likely would enter my starting lineup only on bye weeks or in case of injury (which is not an insignificant possibility with McFadden & Charles). I think I'm convincing myself it's better not to do the trade, since Sproles does not add much to my team, and Leshoure/Hankerson are both good development players. Better to have a couple good lottery tickets than just another backup RB who might not see much action this season, and will begin to lose value fast after he hits age 30. Thoughts? Any advice appreciated.
  6. "Can Stallworth really be charged for Manslaughter here?" If you're asking whether the facts provide the police/DA with a legal basis for charging manslaughter, then the answer clearly is YES. I have not looked at Florida law specifically, but most states have laws that say if you're committing an illegal act and someone dies as a result, you can be charged. It does not matter that you didn't intend for anyone to get hurt -- the legal theory is that if you're doing illegal stuff and someone dies, then your intent to do illegal stuff sweeps in all the results. If the illegal act is a felony (e.g., robbing a bank), and someone dies, then the charge is usually felony murder. If the illegal act is not a felony (e.g., reckless driving), and someone dies, then the charge is usually manslaughter. I think some states even have laws specifically covering DUI/DWI manslaughter. This can be sort of a controversial area of law. For example, if some guy robs a mini-mart with a plastic water pistol, but the employee behind the counter pulls out a big handgun, starts firing, and kills a bystander, the robber can still be charged with felony murder, even though he did not shoot anyone and even carried a water pistol to make sure no one got hurt. Here, Stallworth might not have intended to hurt anyone, and he might have been trying to be careful, but the bottom line is that he was breaking some serious laws when he got behind the wheel, and he's held responsible for the consequences (even if he did not expect the consequences). If you're asking whether it's really fair for Stallworth to get charged in light of all the circumstances (e.g., flashing lights, moderately intoxicated, horn beeping, slightly over speed limit, dark outside, etc.), I've got no answer. Each person's opinion is going to be different. That's what the jury would have been deciding if there hadn't been a plea. Sorry if I gave you more than you really wanted.

I've got a mutiny on my hands

The people who say you shouldn't change the rules this season, and any rule change ought to wait until next season, are right. However, I hear your point that many of the grasshoppers may just quit if no change is made. Some might say "let 'em quit!," but if they're otherwise good owners, it seems a shame to blow up the league over this. Also, you'll have a tough time getting new owners for the grasshoppers' teams (because they sound relatively weak for 2009). For all those reasons, you need to find a compromise for 2009. No, it's not "right" or "fair" to compromise, and it hurts the ants who stockpiled last year. But in the end, everyone (even the ants) are better off with a functioning league even if it means they have to give up a little advantage. "Would you rather be right, or would you rather be happy?" So, I think you ought to tell everyone that since the new-in-2008 keeper rule was not totally clear to everyone (at least not clear in how it would affect them long-term), you're adjusting it slightly to make 2009 a phase-in year. So how should you adjust it for the 2009 phase-in? Several others have posted good ideas. One other that I had is to increase the "cost" of a keeper as a team selects more keepers. So for example, for a team's first three keepers, the cost is a draft pick two rounds earlier. For keepers 4-6, the cost is a draft pick three rounds earlier. For keepers 7+, the cost is a draft pick four rounds earlier. Another way would be to increase the cost of keepers depending on how many years they are kept. So for example, the first year a team keeps a player, the cost is a draft pick two rounds higher. But for the second year that player is kept, the cost is a draft pick three rounds earlier, and further increases in cost for later years. It's sort of like having salaries for each player that escalate each year they are kept. I was in a league that did the increasing salaries, and it was really fun -- unfortunately the league blew up because the commish is a crook. Anyway, all these ideas promote lots more turnover, but would still reward those ants who saved last year (and ants who might save in the future). If you decide to go the compromise route, maybe you should let the league vote on which compromise solution gets picked. That will help bind everyone to the league and maybe minimize complaining, since they're all part of the process. Just announce that there will be some compromise phase-in rule change, and then lay out the two or three options you like best. Whichever option gets the most votes will win. I guess you could even add the options of "no change at all" or "redraft in 2009 with new rule to take effect in 2010," to see if those extreme options get any votes. Good luck!
  8. Hey fellas. I am looking for an online utility that tracks individual player stats in real time and can be configured as a one-stop tracker for all my leagues. For example, in each of my individual leagues (on MFL for example), I can track my team's FF stats as the game progresses (and compare them against my opponent's). But since I am playing in several leagues with different scoring systems hosted by several different sites, I am constantly flipping from site to site to keep track of my players. It seems like there should be a FF site where I can input all my players and associate each of them with a particular scoring system. Then on Sunday, I can just log into a single consolidated webpage that displays all my players' stats and scoring across all leagues. Indeed, if the programming is really clever, it should be able to copy my opponent's players each week from each league and show their scoring too. I spent some time searching for a tool like this last season, but came up empty. Anyone know of anything like this? I was hoping MyFFToday would do this, but I don't think it works that way. Any help appreciated. UPDATE: I was poking around the MFL site, and I found this page: http://www.myfantasyleague.com/fantasy-foo...all-gameday.php . It sounds like what I am looking for, and since several of my leagues are on MFL, it sounds like I will be able to have access. Has anyone used this tool before? Any other good tools?

    Champions, chime in!

A really good weekend for me. If Philadelphia can get me 5 points tonight, then I will go a straight 6-for-6 in playoff games this weekend and take 6 teams to championship games. Of course, with my luck, I'll probably lose 6-for-6 in those championship games!

The biggest fantasy busts of 2008!

Steven Jackson. I think he'll still clock 900-1100 rushing and 200-300 receiving, plus 5-8 TDs, but for a clear cut top-four draft pick, that ranks as a bust to me (since you could get the same production from any pick in the 5-14 range). Why? Because he missed camp, because St Louis o-line is ragged, because Bulger and Holt/Bennett will have trouble keeping extra defenders focused on the passing game, because S-Jax and Bulger are both in just-got-paid mode after clocking fat contracts, because the defense still stinks which will force St Louis to abandon the run early and will overburden the offense, and because the St Louis SOS for rushers is pretty rough. I love the guy as a player, but I think 2008 will not be a good year for him. I also predict that about half of 2007's breakout players will miss their targets by a fair margin, based purely on the fact that many of them could easily be one-hit-wonders. That includes Ryan Grant, Selvin Young, Earnest Graham, Derek Anderson, and David Garrard.

    Brandon Marshall

Really?!? Because that's the question I am focused on -- whether these projections make sense absent suspension. The projections have him getting more receptions than every other WR in the league (by an 8% margin too, since the next highest projected receptions is only 99). The projections also have him hitting more receiving yards than every other WR in the league. I agree that Marshall is very good, and easily has the skill-set to be a top-5 WR. But is it realistic to think he will be the #1 WR in the league by a pretty large margin? I know someone's gotta be #1, but Marshall?!? Not CJ, not Fitz, not Braylon, not Moss, not TO, not Reggie Wayne, not A-Jax? But Marshall? I guess when I think about it more, he's got more upside potential than lots of the other top WRs. There's no one good competing with him for catches, his QB is very good with a big arm, Denver's defense is weak so games can turn into shootouts, Denver's RB situation is dicey, he's got lots of size and speed. Maybe only Andre Johnson is in as good a situation, and FFToday has him ranked #2. He's high-risk-high-reward, but ... wow, maybe I'm convincing myself that Marshall could very well be the #1 WR (assuming he's not suspended).

    Brandon Marshall

The 7/24/08 FFToday projections table lists Brandon Marshall as the #1 WR in PPR leagues with a projected stat line of 107 receptions for 1450 yards and 10 TDs. While his 2007 numbers were great (102/1325/7), this is a pretty serious projected increase for Marshall: 5% increase in receptions, 9% increase in yards, and 43% increase in TDs. If Marshall get suspended for even one game, these projections will be very hard to reach. But even if he gets to play all 16 games, aren't these projections a little high? Do others think he really has that much potential? Don't get me wrong: I have him on a dynasty team, and I WANT these projections to be true. I just don't know if they're realistic. If most people think these projections are on the mark (and I don't) then maybe now is the time for me to trade Marshall. All thoughts appreciated.

chad johnsons value if hes traded

What would you think about 85 in Seattle? I know it's extremely unlikely that Holmgren would part with whatever Cinci would need to trade CJ, but how do you think he'd do there? Seattle really needs a #1 WR so it seems like CJ might fit the bill.

What would you like to see at FFToday?

My wish list. (1) Keep doing all the stats you do. This website has the best compilation of stats I've found. I use almost all of them. (2) "I need more stats, Scotty!," says TJ Shatner. Maybe yards-per-rush, yards-per-completion, yards-per-reception, completion %, etc? Maybe stats on players' years of experience in league, rookie draft round, height/weight? (3) Modify the stats section to allow for custom stat tables. For example, it would be great if I could click a few buttons and generate a table with just the top 30 RBs, listing just their rushing yards, TDs, and yards-per-rush for weeks 1-6 of the season. Especially if you add more stats, this would allow for creation of more limited stat lists to keep things from getting too cluttered. (4) More customization available in the personalized scoring section. For example, allow for setting up scoring systems that give extra points for long field goals, or for defensive points allowed or passing/rushing yards allowed. Also, if you add stats for such things as completion %, YPRush, YPReception, YPComp, then allow scoring customization for them. (5) More creative article ideas. Don't get me wrong -- I love the ones you guys do. Development of Crank score and "Analyzing the Experts" were brilliant. I want to keep encouraging you to do more of that great stuff. I particularly like it when you think of new and creative ways to crunch different stats and analyze issues in ways others have not considered, so I just don't want to you get bogged down with the everyday effort of running the site and lose the "free time" you might spend on creative thinking. (6) Keep the user interface clean. As mundane as it sounds, I really like the relatively simple layout this website uses. The flashy FF websites with tons of colors and pictures and graphics and pull-down menus all threaten to give me a seizure. K.I.S.S. (7) A section of articles or primers where you analyze and describe different offensive and defensive schemes. This would help people like me understand better why a Z receiver in the WCO will post weak numbers against a Tampa 2 defense. As part of this section, you could include a straightforward list of which teams are running which offensive/defensive schemes in recent years. (8) A pony. (Hey, it's a "wish list," right? You always gotta ask for a pony on any wish list!) Thanks for all the great work on this site. It's my favorite.

    Steelers vs Redskins

Giuseppi Pizza (http://giuseppispizza.net/frames/main.html). A Steelers-themed pizza place. Yum. It's out in Rockville though, so maybe a little drive depending on where you're staying. (Side benefit: you can sing old REM songs while driving there ("Don't go back to ....").) The Pour House (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/cityguide/profile?id=799057&p=print). It used to be a combination Tiki bar and Stillers place, but it looks like it got bought out and watered down a bit. Ben's Chili Bowl (http://www.benschilibowl.com/). No Steelers connection that I know of, but a DC food landmark anyway. The 'Skins fan will be welcome here. Others might have to wait outside. Music. Check who's playing at the 9:30 Club. If you can find one, go see a Go-Go band. Maybe you'll see Slim Charles from The Wire (former singer for "The Backyard Band"). Exercise. If you're not too hung over (or even if you are), go for a run on the Mall in the early morning. It's inspiring. If you're really tough, you could come a week earlier for the Marine Corps Marathon. Museums and the National Zoo. They're all good and all free, so you can't lose. Get ya some culture, whydoncha?!? The Exorcist Steps in Georgetown. Kind of cool to see them if you're old enough to remember the movie. Guide. Here's the Washington Post's visitor guide. Click around for stuff you might like. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/cityg...uide/index.html Have a great time. If I think of more ideas, I'll post them. Go Steelers.
