Kenny Golladay

Recommended Posts

This guy started out like a BabyMegatron, but then three weeks ago, things went south. He has had three very poor games with very few targets and the most FP was 6.9 of those three weeks.

Stafford looks like Eli Manning now and his 10 sacks last week v. Minny is probably making him think to drop the ball off to Theo very quickly. When Tate was traded the initial reaction was one of elation seeing one less big mouth to feed.....but now Im not so sure. Maybe Tate allowed for the other two to get open more and have less coverage. I dont know. I dont want to base my observations and conclusions on just one game so maybe we can know more after this game with the Bears.

Anyhow, Ive noticed more young WRs are coming on while KG gets smaller. (MV-S, both Moores, and Kirk to name a few. ). When do you feel it is time to jump ship and hop on another back? Or do you still believe a guy like KG is too good to abandon so you keep him no matter how bad it looks and watch the other hot young things go elsewhere? (Assuming you dont have the space to stash.)

Thoughts?

I agree that he has dropped off but I'm sticking with him for a while longer. I think Tate leaving does open up some targets for him (MJ jr as well). I don't think Tate leaving makes it worse though. It's not like the slot cover guy will slide outside now. There is still a slot guy to cover. I do think some of the other upcoming WR's are interesting though. MVS is in a great spot to put up points.

He has really been a disappointment the last 3 games. I thought I had found myself a stud off the ww. I think he is more talented than Jones for sure, but he also gets the top coverage

How do you know he gets the top CB? For example, the Buffalo and Arizona top CBS are great. How do you know those two guys will shadow KG around the field? Don’t forget, he also lines up out of the slot 30% of the time too. I know they just picked up Bruce Ellington and he lines up from the slot so maybe this will change.

Some top corners do not move, so its not 100% of the time. Typically the best receiver is going to get the best coverage though. He is better than Jones, so it only makes sense that he gets top coverage

“He is better than Jones”.......did KG tell you this? Lol

I would assume that teams view Golladay as the bigger threat... It's not complicated

As a Detroit home Indont believe this to be the case. Golladay still runs sloppy routes while MJ runs great routes and is always exactly where he should be when Stafford looks his way. I think teams would much rather limit Jones and live with Golladay and not vice-versa. Just my opinion though...

Thanks for chiming in here. I didn’t think it was a given that KG was the preferred WR. It certainly doesn’t appear to me he is.

Wow great post.

I’m thinking the same thing.

He’s fallen down and can’t see to get up.

M Jones is the true wr1 on the Lions.

With the Oline problems I’m not so sure Stafford is going to have the time to make Golladay a worthy starter.

I think he’s a keeper on a roster but hard to trust playing him.

Golladay seems like a textbook bench and hold at the moment.

I flipped him for Scantling. if that turns out to be a bad swap, so be it.

The reason Golladay made it on to my squad was those 12 targets he got in week 1. I was still content with the 9 and 7 targets he got in the next two weeks thereafter. But in the 3 games since the bye ? Paltry targets of 2-1-4 and that 4 was pretty lowly in my book, given that Tate had departed.

So the reason I got Golladay in the first place has evaporated. And with Kerryon coming on in the running game and Riddick getting some targets that used to be Tate's, i didn't have enough faith that the days of those heady targets he was seeing at the start of the year were going to return.

Did the same for the reasons above plus Allison is out indefinitely plus the fact it's Aaron Rodgers chucking it.

Do you think Im crazy to flip him for Captain Kirk or DJMoore?

A negative perception regarding ARI and Rosen's ability to produce has probably kept me from considering Kirk as much as i should. Kirk is in the midst of a constructive six week span that is a tier shy of the good five week span that Golladay had to start the year, but he's still producing whereas Golladay has fallen off the track. I might be willing to give Golladay a week or two more leash if i felt Kirk was my best alternative, but i don't think you would be crazy to make the flip.

The two available WRs that i had next in line for consideration after Scantling were Adam Humphries and Pierre Garcon. While I perceived Humphries as the oft-forgotten step-child in the burgeoning Buccaneer WR family and Garcon has always been a meh for me, you have to wonder whether some exciting chemistry could get crackling between Fitz and Humphries and Mullins and Garcon. I guess one way to look at it is that Scantling, Humphries, and Garcon all seemed to be offering the prospect of attaining a 4th gear that they might operate in for a little while whereas the consistent 3rd gear that Kirk has been motoring along on might be his ceiling.

Wow, great reply Spence. Clap clap.

Yeah, Im more talk now than bite. You can tell Stafford is causing me great pain. Now that I picked up MVS, Captain Kirk is no longer that important to me, so Gwith KG on my bench this week, he can win me back with a solid game ag Da Bears.

Detroit never really has any consistent skill players other than when it's an all world talent like Calvin.

Even Golden Tate was kind of streaky.

He'll have some good games and he'll have some bad ones.

Same with Marvin Jones.

Hanging with Golladay and Jones in the leagues where I own them. Stafford has had a bad stretch, but will still be slinging the rock. I also believe that the departure of Tate will have a positive fantasy impact on these two ROS.

Fortunately I have Tyreek Hill and C Kupp to allow me to hold Golladay for a while. As noted, with Tate gone ya gotta hope Golladay becomes relevant again.

If Stafford looks like Eli, then he will be a shoe in HOFer.

I had a chance to replace KG with Marvin when the latter was cut. I didn’t pull the trigger. I now regret that decision. I definitely believe Marvin is more important and more trusted by Stafford, thus, the one most reliable.

In all fairness, just to get the whole picture here.....it is my understanding he did little by halftime, both targets and yards, and got most of his production during fourth quarter garbage time, when I believe MJones was out with an injury. Is this true?

Pretty much true - but in fairness, the whole Lions team pretty much stunk until garbage time. The good thing about FF is that garbage time still counts.....

I guess he might have another chance this week when angry Carolina come in to whip up on some lions.
