Would Lamar Jackson Starting, Help/Hurt John Brown ?

Recommended Posts

I have JB filling in for AJ Green until he comes back. I know very little about Mr. Jackson, other than an article today that said he could be a Michael Vick type QB.

I'm not sure if Lamar Jackson is going to be the starter or how it will effect John Brown but....i think Jackson is worth a add if you have room.

If Jackson does indeed take over at Qb for the Ravens, I’m not sure we see anything more or less then we saw with Flacco.

Young qbs do seem to like the check downs and tes so maybe njoku gets a boost and maybe the Duke also.

From the Tues 11/13 Roto blurb:

"Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Joe Flacco (hip) "does not have to practice to play."

Advice: Harbaugh has been adamant Flacco will start if he is healthy enough to play, and that will be the case even if he fails to get in any practice reps this week. "He’s practiced the whole season. He’s practiced for 11 years," Harbaugh said. If Flacco cannot play, the Ravens would likely turn to rookie Lamar Jackson, but it is also possible Robert Griffin III gets the nod."

Sounds to me like the Coach is determined to shoehorn Flacco into the game if he can. The Bengals are currently giving up the most FP's to QB's and I think Harbaugh would prefer to have the man in there that's had lots of experience against the Bengals.

While Flacco may have been off lately, if I were a Brown owner, I'd still prefer to have Flacco, who is historically fairly good at the deep pass, throwing to my guy

I disagree with this helping NJoku or the Duke.

If Jackson plays, the Ravens playbook will be a leaflet. I can't see them running any medium passes. Anything long will be improvised, with maybe one or 2 planned.

Even a new QB on a different team can't hurt Njoku at this point..... :shocking:

True Flacco has enough experience to play even if he doesn't practice. No surprise.

I think what this really is about is making sure Cin can't 100% game plan for who is going to be starting at QB. Just like AJ Green was in a walking boot and it was no big deal, Joe Flacco is on crutches and it is no big deal.

Jackson gets a poor Cincy D this week. If he shows well Flacco can't continue to rest against Oak. Then if Jackson does well against Oak it will be the start of a new era.

This kind of plays out well for Baltimore. You don't spend a #1 on a QB to sit 2-3 years. Next year it has to be Jackson's team unless they blew the draft pick. Jackson gets a chance to close out the year with arguably the easiest schedule for any QB. If I was a coach or GM preparing a QB for 2019 a don't think there is a better choice of schedule then home vs Cinci, home vs Oak, road vs Atl and then the first real test on the road against KC.

Sorry.

Well they are technically the same team since the Ravens just took the name, so there’s that.

Flacco has passed it over 50 times twice this year. His low being 34 week 1.

If Lamsr starts a whole game how many times are they letting him throw? 20-28 times?

It is John Brown so it only takes 1 deep TD to make a nice day out of it. But overall I cant understand how anyone would think this wouldnt hurt.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to roll with JB, & hope regardless of who's throwing the ball, he can get at least one big play.

Can’t disagree, but I will say I don’t think it will change much.

I think Brown will have a good game and a few stinkers.

Thanks.

Kind of similar issue but I have Stinktree. I like the matchup and his target share if Flacco plays but not so much if they go with Jackson. Should I just roll with Baldwin tomorrow?

I like Baldwin vs the Packers.

Sounds like Lamar will get the start:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Lamar Jackson is expected to start Week 11 against the Bengals.

There was some thought the Ravens would turn to Robert Griffin III with Joe Flacco (hip) out, but Schefter called Jackson the "expected starting QB." The rookie could not have a better matchup for his career debut. The Bengals are banged up on the defensive side of the ball, and they were having trouble stopping opposing quarterbacks even when they were healthy. Jackson carries risk in his first start, but he also has high-end QB1 upside.

I can’t wait to see how he performs.

I hope he has a great game, but we’ll see.

Im debating starting him over Rivers. He has a higher upside for sure as Rivers likely wont need to put up too many points to keep up with Denver. Having Bosa back will make that D even better.

Jackson has some risk of course. He could struggle passing and get replaced by the almighty RG3. The weak Bengals D would seem to make that less likely. Then the points he can put up with his legs are the big bonus and should raise his point floor. Also, their defense has limited film on him as a full-time QB to reference when planning how they want to play him.

Im leaning towards Jackson.

Interesting because the last two times Rivers played against the broncos at Denver he’s avg 21.5 ff points.

The last two times he’s faced them at home, he’s avg 15 ff points, this weekend he’s home.

I found that interesting.

Good luck with starting Jackson.

I picked up Lamar Jackson to stash on my bench, also benched John Brown who I drafted as like a WR6.

Lamar Jackson 27 carries 117 yards rushing (more than any Ravens running back this year), 150 yards passing. 0 TD, 1 INT. Flacco has a hip injury, don't know when he'll be back.

It looks it was, he broke Tebow’s record.

Two games with Jackson 2 rec 48 yards zero tds.

His last two with Flacco, 6 rec for 45 yards zero tds.

Don’t know about you but it as been fun to follow this.

I guess in non ppr he’s been 0:3 points better with the yards, but getting killed in ppr league.

But his per rec avg has been higher.

Anyway I thought this was a fun thing to follow, looks like no winners here either way.
