What's my obligation here...

Recommended Posts

So a lot of the guys that did the baseball camp with me this summer are getting together in Chicago for a party.

Thinking since the Cubs are in town I should catch a game I grab tickets for a Saturday from a guy that went to the camp. So now I'm supposed to send him the money for it.

Well we get an email that says that the get-together isn't going to a Cubs game but is going to be at this guys man cave that apparently won Man Cave of the year.

So I haven't paid the guy for the tickets but he has sent them to me. He is going to the man cave party.

Is it bad form to tell him I'm going to send the tickets back so I can make the party and probably catch a Cubs game the day before or do I need to pay for these tickets and just miss the get-together?

Damn that's tough. Explain the situation, see if he understands

Does this take place before or after the Dungeons and Dragons game?

He's going to the party so sending him back the tix isn't an option. How about giving them as a gift to somebody you know? Or ask him if he knows somebody who could use them.

You need to reimburse the guy for the tickets first thing.

Then see if you can return them or sell them, or give them away if you don't want to attend the game. (Or go and skip the man cave thing). Either way, explain the situation to your crew.

Sounds like you asked for the tickets so you own them. Pay the man and do what you want with the tickets.

Skip the game and find a father and son that would not otherwise be able to go to a game and give the tickets to them. Or better yet, a mom and son and get head for them at a latter date.

This is the first option, but youre probably gonna just eat them or get rid of them yourself. Depending on how serious you desire for these tix was, youre probavly informally obligated to buy them off this guy. Id mention your plan to buy them then resell them yourself due to the man code, and he may let you off the hook.

Tickets are yours. Pay the man and you can do whatever you want with them after that point.

Your real obligation is to kill yourself, though. :dunno:

Explain the situation. Let him know you are happy to pay for them, but you intend to resell them or give them away. Ask if he would prefer to have the choice of who goes (you don't pay, he does what he wants with the tickets). Choice should be his. He may or may not want to deal with finding people to go.

i used to own SF Giants season tickets and would not have to try very hard to sell/give away tickets, so I would have taken them back or possibly traded them for different a game/date.

Another option would be to change your name to Chronicwelcher and tell the guy to fock off.

You owe him for the tickets. If you decide not to go to the game, that's on you. Why should he be out the money for tickets he sent you?

If they were his tickets, that he already had, I think sending them back is fine. I he purchased them for you, you pay him.

Agreed with everyone here. Thank him for the tix and tell him that you plan on attending the man cave that day instead. If he knows other people that want them you'll send them back, otherwise you'll send him the money and sell them on StubHub (or trade them to a single desperate mom for a beejer, I like that idea whoever said it).

Interesting. Glad I asked. I thought it would have been more okay to send them back.

I'll pay you the guy for them and go from there. Thanks fellas.

Wait. Are you suggesting he get head from both the mom and the son at the same time, or will they take turns?

You didn't tell us it was for the end of July. Give the focking things back, he's got plenty of time to get rid of them.

4 months should be plenty of time for either of you to move them.

No my voice text was terrible. It is June. Sorry.

I was hoping that maybe they were playing the Marlins or Padres, that way you would have an out, cause you wanted tickets to a Major League game.

Someone has already mentioned and I agree. If they are his season tickets and already paid for - then returning them with a big ol' thanks anyway as it conflicts with the ghey get together is fine. Especially two + months prior.

If he laid out cash just to purpose these tickets for you I'd pay him and figure out a solution afterwards

Actually after seeing the crying the Twins did this weekend when Baltimore bunted into the shift to break up their pitchers ONE-HITTER, I'm not sure they are a major league team either.

This. Can't tell you how many times I've had extra tix and gave them to dad/sons sitting in front of the Dome arguing with scalpels and walked up and handed the two and Said" Enjoy the game with your son/daughter. See you in section 601. Who Dat!!!" Bunny has pissed off many scalpers. The look and joy is priceless.

Yeah..I do that alot with my courtside seats to our G league team. Sometimes only stay for a bit to watch, see some people...then I'll find a kid and dad and give them my Tix.

I'm not doing that with Cubs tickets though. Ha.
