Mac thing? Run-time error '1004' ?

Recommended Posts

I've read previous post's relating to this Run-time error 1004 problem, but I'm still having some issues.

First and foremost, I've used both programs last year and they rock!

This year, I've switched from PC to Mac and now I'm having a big problem trying to import the compiler's cheatsheet into the draft buddy program.

I'm running version 2.0 on a new Mac laptop OS-X with MS Office. Both the compiler & draft buddy work as normal (including updating the projections via internet) until I click on "Setup Draft Buddy" in the draft buddy program. I simply get the error prompt saying that the file (compiler) cannot be found. I have not changed any file names and I have tried the entire process from scratch twice. Every time it's the same. I've even tried creating new file names and file folders, but even though the draft buddy program has all correct data path's, error 1004 still prevails.

(I have my firewall turned off, but I believe this is not an internet related issue)

Now, I can still use the draft buddy program without the imported cheatsheets, but that's the point to the whole thing.

Anyone have a solution to this problem?? Of course I'm drafting tomorrow (Wed. evening) and not looking forward to using the program at half the potential.

Thanks for any input!!

Hi Xander. Try keeping the Compiler file open in the background when you run the Draft Buddy setup. I think this has to do with different directory structures/formatting between Windows and Mac. Unless the Compiler is open, Buddy can't find the file on a Mac.
