What's The Longest Acceptable Time Period For Payouts?

Recommended Posts

Generally it varies from league to league...but what's the general accepted deadline? Let's say for leagues ending on Week 16.

Is it after final stat corrections (if a close title game)? Beginning of playoffs? Super Bowl?

I know commissioners have lives and given the stacking of holidays it can be hectic at times.

For me personally, I can generally wait until the Super Bowl before being annoyed. After that it's definitely long past any point of acceptability.

What says y'all?

i generally don't worry about it too much but agree that payouts should be done by around the super bowl at the latest. I was in a league where i wouldn't get money until summer - which is obviously way too long and was pretty annoying.

Never waited longer then a week after the last regular season game.

It shouldn't take more than a week.

If the people are local, end of regular season. If it is people you with, the next time the winners are in the office, the greens should be waiting on them.

If there's PayPal and stuff involved, that's probably even easier. Aka it shouldn't take more than a couple weeks after things are final.

7 days at the longest if the match was decided by 10 points/1 stat score or less.

2 days after a blowout game.

Most leagues often set a deadline to pay fees but some act like they have to print the money when it is time to dole it out.

Show me the money!

One of my leagues meets for beers to watch the superbowl and the payouts and awards/trophies are done at that time.

I'd say that's as late as you should go unless everyone agrees otherwise.

I never question a thing until after the Super Bowl. I have also never been in a situation where I had to ask. That's just the deadline I've always given myself.

personally, i try to send it out the day after the results are in - assuming no chance for stat corrections changing results.

this year i was out of town and so ended up sending 4 days after the season.

in my opinion there is no reason for a delay

Paid out the day after the championship via leaguesafe or paypal.

Also, you are a goner if your money isn't in at the league entry fee deadline. (we always have a few people next up on our waiting list)

Anything else is just uncivilized.

I tell people that I hold all money for games decided by 3 point or less for 72 hours after the end of the last game of Week 16. All others get paid the morning after Week 16 is over.

Superbowl. In one of my leagues we owe for transactions so not everyone knows what they owe and what the payouts are until after Championship week.

In my other league for which I am commish, I start trying to collect at the draft and try to pay out as close to Championship week as possible. This year I'm waiting for one final person to pay which should happen this week.

It's on the commish to collect the fee and pay the winner though so, I'll have to pay soon and may have to collect from the final guy after the fact. Telling the Champ you can't pay him because someone hasn't paid yet doesnt fly and isn't cool. You can't expect the winner to deal with people that haven't paid, thats part of being commish.

You are correct there. It's why we don't allow anyone who hasn't paid for current year to trade until they have paid up. Any non paying owner not only is restricted from trading, but also can't participate in the rookie draft.

If you're not going to return then let the mish know ok?

Doesn't that mean that the new guys are technically late on payment since they are paying after the deadline? Do you kick them out and start a vicious cycle of banishment, recruitment, celebration, beratement, banishment, recruitment...

Money is due on draft day no exceptions. The commissioner holds the money and it's up to the winner to come pick it up. Everyone is local
