Travis Kelce

Recommended Posts

Anyone worried about Kelce given his total lack of production today with the rest of KCs receivers so involved , Targeted 6 times only 1 catch for 6 yards. I am alittle concerned I have to admit../thoughts??

I know its early but scary considering what is expected from him as TE 2 or 3 on most boards

Thanks for the input

Cheers

Yes, Captain check down has moved on.

Mahomes likes to push it down field and rightfully so.

Bear in mind KC only completed 15 passes and Mahommes was throwing it around the field. Hes not the most accurate qb so I think all his receivers are in for streaky games. Kelce got his targets, they just were bad ones

Dif QB with dif strengths. Also TE just have bad games sometimes. Thats why they arent worth early picks unless its Gronk.

I'm concerned, but not full-on worried. Yeah, Ma'homey won't check down as much. But Kelce isn't exactly a check-down sort of TE. He can and does stretch the field too. I just think they aren't used to each other yet. Definitely giving him a couple more weeks before I get full on worried.

I appreciate the responses guys. He seemed to be more of a pass blocker in the 2nd half of todays game and his body language didnt look good either...I would suspect he isnt happy. heres hoping he Manhones and he get on the same page

I think that hill was the game plan, and was working...so why stop? while hunt, hill, and kelce should get nice games i do not know how consistent they are going to be. i would have thought mahomes would have checked down more, be he is aggressive and throwing down field a bit. reid may pull that back to try to control clock more. i am just looking over the box score...

mahomes was 15/27

hunt had 16 carries, ware- 3

not sure they can sustain success with this formula.

Ya I was noticing he wasnt even looking at check downs or screen passes. Maybe this will serve Hunt and Kelse with defenders leaving that area open... affraid of being burned deep

It was one... focking... game.

Most armchair GMs dont understand that teams gameplans can change wildly week to week. Matchups, exploiting rookies, avoiding pro bowlers, theres a lot that goes into it and they arent just going to be predictable like we want them to be.

Some people do have that problem. That doesn't make me not concerned about 1 catch on 6 targets. There was talk in the preseason about the two not being on the same page. Gameplan or not, if they aren't connecting, Kelce won't get his catches. As I said above, I'm only concerned, not 'worried'. But 1 for 6 is not gameplan.

It absolutely is. Your concern is fine for the time being.

Well, I didn't watch the game, so I'm willing to listen. How was his only catching 1 out of 6 targets caused by the gameplan? Honest question. I'm not worried about only 6 targets, I'm worried about the catch rate, and not seeing how that's caused by the gameplan.

Catch rate is even less of a concern than targets. Guys can drop passes, get well defended, just not have the sun shine on them sometimes. The offense looked great, be optimistic about that.

It’s game planing from both teams.

In a non ppr the last six games vs the Chargers, Kelce as scored a total of 19.3 points for a 3.2 avg.

Matchups it’s what the great game of football is about.

Chargers seem to matchup.

It's true that sometimes guys just have off games. But the preseason talk about the two not being on the same page, followed by 1/6, is where my concern is. Receivers not being on the same page with QBs is a real thing, and has consequences. Play breaks down, QB thinks right is the way to go, receiver thinks left, etc. It's one reason that you often see good results when receivers and QBs hang out off the field, they get to know each other better. Hopefully they'll get it worked out, or they are on the same page and it's just a one game thing. But I'm keeping my eye on it. Mahones/Kelce was not a stat machine in the preseason either.

If those were knocked down passes, that's one thing, and attributable to the defense. Again, I didn't see the game, just watched the ticker. But catch rate can easily have nothing to do with game planning. Bad catch rate can come from a bad receiver (not Kelce), an inaccurate QB (not Ma'homey), blanket D (didn't see the game, can't say), or two guys not on the same page.

Doesn’t look good for Kelce when playing the Chargers.

I think those ff points or lack of them indeed shows that.

Sure. But I'm not concerned about FF points. I'm concerned about what that bad catch rate might mean. If anything.

Will I’m concern about ff points, this is what the board is about.

I won this week without Kelce, so I'm not concerned about his one week lack of fantasy points.

I hope people are tilting about Kelce. I will take him off of their hands with glee. He will be fine.

Same. I wish I had Randal Cobb to offer our Kelce owners.

Maaaan! That would be wonderful. The hardest thing right now is to let people stay out on unnecessary limbs about certain players. Tilting Tuesday will be crazy.

I would have some concern after next week. Reid will make an effort to get Kelce into the gameplan next week. We'll see if Mahomes gets him the ball.

More of the same next week and I will be worried, yeah. Right now...I have a raised eyebrow and a mild frown.

I am not worried at this time. Most of the strange outcomes you see in football is often in week 1 of the regular season. at this time Coaches will often try something completely new to throw teams off. sometimes it will work, sometimes it will not. And when 2 different teams make large changes from the norm, you will sometimes get unpredictable results.

The long and the short of it is this:

our sample size is too small to determine if this is a trend or not.

I recommend you hang onto Kelce and dont make any crazy moves at this time.

I'm trying hard to trade for Kelce with a fantasy owner who bitched about his lack of production on Sunday, another ride the wagon one week owner....I'm offering RB Hyde & TE Engram, players I will seldom use....Cross my fingers the owner judges Kelce's value by week #1 stat line....

I went right back to starting him in Week 2 in two leagues. Glad I did. Mahomes likes throwing to him, they'll build up more chemistry as they go.

So no...I wasn't worried, Week 1 is always weird.

I am no longer 'concerned' :) I played him of course, because I almost never roster 2 TEs, particularly if I have someone with real talent and history. As I mentioned, my concern was always whether Mahomes was going to look his way. Clearly...yeah :) Veddy veddy heppy.

Always disregard week 1 unless it continues week 2. At that point you can be concerned and if it keeps up week 3 you can then be worried. That’s the official flowchart for FF overreaction.

Eh, YMMV. For me, 'concern' just means that I'm peeking a bit forward to see if there are any possible moves I could make after another week or more. I'm not concerned about my RBs (Hunt, Cook, Connor, with Thompson in the wings ppr). But I did poke around a bit to see what TEs were even there in that league, should I decide in week 3 to maybe do something. If I have the time (which I really don't, lol), that's not a big deal. I don't call that 'over' reacting.
