Interested to get thoughts on how this affects Steve Smith?

    Broncos 54 Steelers 3

This game should be close. I think it's decided by 7 or less in the 4th. Unfortunately for the Broncs, that's Ben's forte. I have a feeling the broncos will really get to him, but they had trouble bringing flacco down last week, and I think they will again this week. a couple of sacks maybe, lots of hits. I definitely don't expect the Denver O to do much unless Orton gets some time and throws it down field. These shorts passes don't do much against aggressive defenses that will be sitting on the routes. They need to open it up a bit or risk becoming predictable. Pitt should run the no-huddle quite a bit. It gave the broncos some trouble last week. hopefully they corrected that. Should be a real physical game though, will be fun to watch! Den 20 - Pit 17

Trying to get some trade advice

It depends on what the other guy has at WR. if VJax is is my best wr and I have crap after that, no way I'm trading him away unless I get a real solid offer. Replacing VJax with Marshall is a pretty big downgrade. While I love Marshall (I'm a bronco homer), Orton makes him inconsistent. Until they target him regularly, you get games like Sunday where he has 24 yards. VJax has the potential to explode every game with Rivers slinging it. this trade makes sense: Gore, Marshall and Fargas for Marion Barber and Vincent Jackson. Both Gore and Barber are injury risks, both have already missed time. Gore has a higher upside yes, but Barber is a real solid flex play, your trade off is a potential top 3 WR. I think Marshall is a year away from that, he's just not consistent with Orton back there yet. And you have Barber's handcuff to boot! http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=355970

Trade options...I am thin at WR

Can't go wrong with either one, but I'd definitely try to upgrade. given the choice, right now I'd take colston. pretty easy schedule and Brees loves him in the redzone. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=355970
  5. Someone help me out with this. Here's my team (6-2). We start 3 receivers, non-PPR McNabb, E. Manning MJD, Addai, D. Brown R. White, S. Holmes, S. Smith (Car), J. Cotchery V. Davis, J. Shockey, Carney Colts, Saints The owner with Owen Daniels has a pretty solid team, but has had terrible luck (2-6). He's top scorer I think (or near the top). Daniels just went down and he is in need. Options on the wire are Z. Miller and D. Keller from NYJ. His WRs are A. Johnson, Fitz, H. Ward. He may feel that he will do just fine with either of those guys on the wire, but he's probably pretty close to desperation now at 2-6. 12 teamer and only 4 make it. I'm wondering if offering one of my TEs and one of Holmes/Smith would be enough to get Fitz from him? I honestly don't know how I'm 6-2 with my avg WRs. Anything I could package for him? I guess I'm not sure Davis will keep up the pace. Shockey has the better offense obviously, but he's starting to get dinged up... Any help would be appreciated.

    Brandon Marshall fan club.

I think what is really encouraging is that McDaniels seems to feel his guys are understanding the offense and gaining confidence. There were multiple throws down field yesterday, with mostly open receivers. Orton was really off though and Dallas had him nervous with their blitz packages. He had Gaffney with two steps on Newman for about 70 yards but missed him. Marshall had a couple of other deep balls thrown to him as well. I think after about week 8 this offense will really be clicking well, and Marshall will start moving back into #1 WR territory. Schedule gets much tougher the next few weeks though.

    Dropping Eddie Royal

Agree whole-heartedly...look at Cassel's numbers last year Games 1-8 : 7TD 7INT 1566 yards Games 9-16: 14TD 4 INT 2127 yards This is a very complex offense, one that these players didn't have much time together in real games. Orton was hurt during the most meaningful preseason games (and that finger seems to be affecting his accuracy). Their deep threat in Gaffney was hurt for 3 preseason games. Marshall doesn't even know the offense yet. They're running game has yet to really get going as the offensive line is adjusting to new schemes. I'm amazed they've even moved the ball at times. It's going to be until week 8 or 9 until these guys really understand what they're supposed to be doing, and when that happens, I think you'll see Royal become a solid #2 guy. He really needs Marshall to show up and become dominant again, and that will REALLY open up the field for him.

    Denver fans, Knowshon or Kno-Show?

He looked like his knee might still be bothering him a bit...Buckhalter looked much more explosive. They do want him involved though, he's making a lot of money, and he's the most talented back on the team. Even if healthy though, most of the offense didn't get a chance to play together throughout preseason (Moreno hurt, Orton hurt, Marshall out, Gaffney hurt...), so I'm thinking it's going to take a few games for anyone on this offense to be productive anyway. By week 5 or 6 I think Moreno should be seeing the majority of the carries and the offense should be better.

    How dumb is Josh McDaniels?

I don't think the Broncos will be as bad as you think. In fact, I think the offense will be better than last year. People seem to forget, for all the yards they put up, they still only averaged something like 16 points a game. There is a lot of room for improvement for this unit. I was a huge Cutler supporter since he was drafted. He has loads of talent. There were passes last year I'm convinced only he could have completed. However, there were also a lot of balls he just threw up in the air and I was amazed they weren't picked off. His receivers, Scheffler/Marshall/Hillis in particular, made some of his days outstanding where they should have been ordinary. While I'm sorry we lost him, I'm not as sad to seem him go as others seem to be. Is he good? Absolutely! Can they win as many games without him, definitely. The offensive line is sick. Their top running back last year was a fullback, yes, upgrading running backs was a big priority, and they did that. They will use Scheffler, he's too talented no to be used. Huge upgrades in the defensive backfield. Yes, they are old, but more importantly, they can tackle. I can't tell you how many times I saw what should have been a 4 or 5 yard gain turn into 20 or 30 because Webster or Wilborne or one of their crappy safeties was either out of position or missed an open field tackle. It's never good when you try starting your free agent rookie LB at safety. They will allow Champ to actually play man to man, no more of this zone, 10 yards off the receiver crap with one of the best DBs in the game. Linebackers are decent, Andra Davis is an upgrade, I think he just got tired of playing in cleveland (I probably wouldn't play as hard either if they forced me to take a pay cut), woodyard and larsen add depth. Their are still question marks on the D-line obviously, but I think Fields will be an adequate NT and Ayers and Thomas will be fine at DE, they have enough talent to hold their own. Where they will really need their players to step up is a the OLB position. Those guys will have to make the transition fast I think. Would it have been nice to have both Orakpo and Ayers, sure, but I can see why they went with Moreno and I can't argue against it. Especially if San Diego was as interested in him as they were saying. And there's no guarantee that either guy will make it anyway. Moreno is more of a sure thing. More than anything though, I think having an offense that can control the ball and keep the pressure off the defense will do wonders for them. I will be surprised if they make the playoffs. I do think they'll be better than most people think, assuming the players can learn and play within the system McDaniels installs. I don't think 7-9 or maybe even 8-8 again is out of the question. Althought the middle of their schedule is pretty tough. So overall I like what he's done. Something needed to change and it could have gone better, but I don't think the changes he made are terrible.
  10. I'm a believer. 4 leagues last year, won 2 titles, 3rd in another. 2 leagues this year. Super bowl in one league (top point scorer), and playing for 3rd in the other thanks to losing a tie breaker in round 2 of the playoffs. Great software, won't ever go without it again.

    Pierre Thomas

I've got AP and T Jones starting, but trying to decide between Stewart and PT in my flex spot. Stewart has a good matchup, but the broncos has been getting better play out of their linebackers and safeties, plus Champ will be back this week, so they will most likely bring another safety up close to the line to help. Not saying they can stop either Carolina back, but they're going to try. Plus, Denver has the potential on offense to jump out early, which would reduce Stewarts touches if that were to happen. Pierre gets all the goal line carries and has been playing lights out, even with Reggie coming back. I don't seem him losing any carries, and if they get up on Chicago, they'll feed him late. Just my thoughts, but for now I'm leaning PT.

12 team redrafts or 1 keeper - still alive

Had a great draft thanks to the draft buddy! Most of my team is still in tact from draft day (starters anyway). Drafted 3rd, LT/Westbrook went 1/2. Top scorer in the league, but play the guy that was a close second this coming week. Has one WR/RB flex spot. Cutler AP Thomas Jones Jonthan Stewart Pierre Thomas (did not draft) Fitzgerald Marshall Mason (did not draft) Scheffler Crosby (did not draft) Titans/Steelers Hasslebeck (will be dropped) Matt Jones (will be dropped)

The Official Ride and Die With...

Rolling with Cutler, Marshall, and Scheffler this week. When Cutler is on he's been money. If we get inaccurate Cutler though, we're screwed. I like Denver's line against anybody in pass protection, he should have all day to throw. As a bonus, with no running backs (that includes Tater Tot), I think we'll see a few more QB sneaks to keep the linebackers close. Cutler has some pretty decent wheels and I can see him scrambling for 30 or so, to go along with 50 pass attempts (assuming Denver's D can stop Carolina once in a while, which it may not be able to).

    P. Thomas

Really? I picked him up yesterday hoping this, but everything I've read says Bush is likely going to play and Duece will likely play as well. I guess he's had fluid drained off and on this year, and he's played. You have a link where it says he's starting? I ask because I haven't read that anywhere...if so I'll be
