Jared Cook

Recommended Posts

I am still confident that he is terrible but that usage was real. And tight end is a rough position regardless so you...I mean umm...that Walker owner may as well take a shot on him until he returns to his normal form (unreliable and terrible if not hurt).

Won't have that stat line often obviously, but he looked legit last night. Priority add imo.

Amari Cooper cant catch anything and has zero confidence. So this guy may have lots of legit. opportunity this season.

If Cooper did what Cook did, there would be three threads started on him, people claiming fantasy titles, and a massive debate of who's the best WR in the league Hill or Cooper.

He was the center piece of the passing game last night, he's a clear top filler for walker owners.

Cook obviously looks good at the moment, but for years he has had a really good game or two followed by 8 stinkers. Buyer beware...

My thoughts exactly... the dude is a top tier athlete but for whatever reason it never materializes.

I am going to lean toward it being a 1 week aberration. Cook has never been consistent. The Rams D is about as good as it gets. Carr had to go somewhere.

I appreciate the skepticism, but as another Delanie owner who needs a replacement, it's not like there are any great reliable options available on the waiver wire. It's Cook or Eric Ebron or Will Dissly or Antonio Gates or Hooper/Brate or V McDonald. As of right now, I'm thinking of trying for Cook. 12 targets for a TE is basically twice that of any other available TE.

I don't get this statement when discussing the TE position. This is almost true for any TE outside the top 5. One nice game, a bunch of duds, maybe another nice game followed up by duds.

Seems like the TE position is a crapshoot after those top ones go.

Maybe this is the year Cook puts it together. His history suggests that you will regret starting him. If you have the space by all means pick him up you never know. I will let someone else do that in my leagues

Well as a Walker owner, I don't have many choices. Dissly? Think they'll keep him in more to help pass block for RW. Jesse James? Basically the same as Cook, but without the big games.

Only other one I see is Ebron, but even that's a crapshoot because of Doyle. Once again Ebron is one of those guys that can have a big game and then follow it up with several duds.

I admit I never heard of Dissly before this week so no idea about him, I'd probably go Ebron or Jonnu before Cook, but if that's all that's available Cook could be the best of that lot.

Greg Olsen refractured his surgically repaired right foot so his owners might be battling it out with Delanie owners for a replacement

Well sure, if Kittle is available, I'd absolutely take him first. But doubt he's actually available in too many leagues.

This, and Cook isnt available in my leagues either.

This has been the case over the years with Cook, but perhaps he might be the beneficiary of Gruden's system. I know that Chucky said that Cooper would be the "centerpiece" of his system, but that certainly wasn't the case against Marcus Peters last night. It probably won't be next week against the No-Fly Zone squad.

Denver struggles historically against TEs (exhibit A Dissly, Will). If you got him, start him unless you have Gronk or Kelce.

We tell everyone not to jump when their players underperform week one.

I would say the same thing about mr Cook.

I wouldn’t run out a get him after that game.

He’s always going to be fools gold.

The table below shows the percentages of team targets divvied out to WRs-RBs-TEs for every Raider game since last year's bye in week 10:

wk11 67-18-14

wk12 42-33-25

wk13 50-24-26

wk14 65-10-25

wk15 63-24-13

wk16 54-29-18

wk17 59-26-15

wk01 23-38-38

The wk01 numbers show extremes everywhere and may reflect that the Rams were covering the WRs particularly well, The only other time that the WRs failed to garner 50% of the target share was wk12 when Aqib Talib was also defending, this time for the Broncos.

Jared Cook's targets for the games referenced above were 5-5-5-6-4-2-4-12. While Gruden may decide to feature him more, you'd have to figure that last night's 12 targets are going to be an aberration. But i'm taking dcgangstas point into consideration about next week's matchup against DEN being a favorable one.

I think the gameplan was designed more for throws against the linebackers rather than the Rams corners. The targets bear that out as Richard/Cook had 18 of 29 receptions. Jordy only had 4 targets, Cooper had 3.

I have to think this was likely a one game anomaly.

Lets pretend Cooper is the all world receiver some think he is, Nelson isn't washed up, and the only reason Cook had a big game was due to great CBs covering those two. That still makes Cook the third option in the passing game. When it comes to TE's, that's a potential top 12 guy.

Cook has good matchup against Den. Which let Dissly go for 3-105-1. Cooper should poop the bed again against Harris.

This is the way to look at it, particularly with guys like Walker and Olsen out of the picture. Plus...Amari Cooper isn't the dude everything keeps thinking he can be. That's likely Cook's best game, but it's not impossible to think he'll keep being good.

Cook is slimmer and faster than I've ever seen him, he looked like a man among boys last night carrying guys in the secondary. I'm definitely look at Cook instead of Njoku.

Cooper is a turd right now. Guy might be the biggest head case in the league.

DeVante Parker called, he thanks you for saying that about Cooper.

He looked good out there, had a great game, but hes been inconsistent in the past.

As a fantasy owner who has had him in the past, that's what can be most frustrating about him. You think he has potential to do so much more than what he usually does, and he just does not get it done.

Hes worth a pickup. players like this sometimes get their act together late in their careers. In his case he put up career best stats of almost 700 yards receiving last year but the odds are good this was one of those one game wonders and he will likely revert to his usual level of production (40-50 yards/Game) for the rest of the year.

Weird way to spell Corey Coleman.

Corey Coleman just signed with the Pats right? His career is about to turn around.

Michael Floyd, Eric Decker, Nate Washington, and Reggie Wayne amongst others may disagree.

Luckily, Dimitrius Underwood and Aldon Smith can lay out the truth for them.

So I've actually never heard about Coleman's issues. Didn't know he had any. What's up with him?

http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=478745&hl=coleman

Based on this thread, he was a standard wide receiver diva. Off field issues, half a$$ed efforts, didn't do anything he didn't want to etc. Nothing ground breaking, but when a first rounder gets cut after being traded for a seventh round pick, there has to be issues.

Huh. He always looked so pleasant and nice in his player picture. :/

12 team 16 man roster

there are only 13 TE's rostered right now

Gronk, Olsen, Walker, Graham, Reed, Burton, Kelce, Engram, Njoku, Rudolph, Ertz, Doyle, Clay

Kittle had a little of the same dynamic benefiting him that boosted Jared Cook. Since Jimmy G took over in wk12, there was only one week that Kittle had more targets than Marquise Goodwin and that was wk17 (against these same Rams). So I assume that Goodwin was blanketed Sunday by MIN's Xavier Rhodes. He had only 1 target while Kittle led SF with 9 (WRs Garcon and Taylor still managed to get 6 targets apiece though), Kittle's targets are bound to see some regression.

I feel the dissatisfaction with Njoku as i have him too but his 7 targets were 2nd most on the team and tied for 6th most in the league. I'm going to *rolleyes* and stick with him a while.
