Gotta hope that Ronnie Lott somehow makes this happen

Recommended Posts

Oakland and Alameda County have paired with Fortress Investment Group to create a stadium funding plan that does not include taxpayer dollars. The public will contribute to infrastructure improvements, but stadium construction will come from private sources.

The private investment group is fronted by former NFL players Ronnie Lott and Rodney Peete.

I know that he's been working on this project for awhile now (surrounded by hemming and hawing), but apparently the plan has been (finally) speeded-up a bit this week because:

Oakland and Alameda County will vote (on Tuesday) on whether to continue working on this term sheet and present it to the NFL

The league meets on Wednesday to discuss relocation, and East Bay officials want to show they have a viable alternative to keep the Raiders in Oakland.

I hope they stay in Oakland.

I'm not a fan or really even have much of opinion about them one way or the other but the NFL doesn't seem right without the bad boy team in the Bay.

I pray they stay in Oakland also.

Living in Reno I would be more then happy not to give tax dollars to some very rich people to build them a football stadium that they themselves can afford to pay for.

Was it Lawrence Taylor that said he used to send hookers to the hotel rooms of visiting players so they'd be off their game the next day?

I'm assuming that will be a staple of the operations if a team ever landed in Vegas. Just too easy.

Yeah, I can just imagine it now: hookers and blow and gambling 'til the cows come home - or the money runs out - or Goodell loses his mind and suspends the entire team.

No no no; the strategy is the Vegas team is actually the cleanest team in the league, but they get their advantage because they use all of the excess of Vegas to lure in the visiting team so they'll be off their game.

It's ingenious.

Some interesting developments are taking place this week. It would appear that Mark Davis has managed to royally piss off Sheldon Adelson (his vaunted Vegas backer), who has now taken his ball and all of his promised monies home with him, refusing to entertain any further negotiations.

Further details available from a Nevada perspective: https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/inside-sheldon-adelsons-withdrawal-raiders-stadium-deal

as well as from the South Bay: http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/01/30/adelson-withdraws-from-raiders-las-vegas-deal/

Hopefully hopeful news for Oakland Raiders' fans. B)

Thank you Jesus it's a true answer to prayer.

I don't want to pay for the Raiders new stadium.

They should go join and Rams And Chargers and go back to L A.

Wow. It seems strange (to me, anyway) that a fan base may have their future influenced by a freaking division rival.
