ullloveit 0 Posted August 9, 2006 Every year I receive the last pick in a 10 team redraft standard scoring 1 pt for 10 rush and rec, 1 pt for 25 pass and 6 pts for td's. You have to draft 2 qb's (start 1), 3 rbs (start 2), 5 wr's (start 3) and 2 te's (start 1). Every year I take rb, rb and seem to lose out because I am not getting the best player at any position. I was thinking of taking wr, wr since there are really only 6 to 7 really studdly wr's this season. I think this would start a run on wr's and knowing that nobody takes 3 rbs in the 1st 5 rounds of this league worst case i would get the 19 and 20th rbs (willie parker, c taylor, w dunn,R droughns, d foster, c, dillon, W Mcgahee, J lewis, and K jones). 2 of those backs will be there when I draft 3rd and 4th. If I did wr, wr team could be; s Smith, T Hotl, W Parker, C Taylor. If I go rb, rb team could be Caddy, Westbrook, D Jackson, H Ward What should I do at the 10 spot this season. Please help and I will answer yours.
jacob_17 0 Posted August 9, 2006 Personally, with the 10th pick i would go with a RB and WR instead of both. Thats what i did two years ago when i had the last pick. RBs are more consistent scorers and getting one of the better ones will help in the long run. You could have Caddy, Steve Smith, DJax, and C. Taylor. That would be a lot more balanced and in my opinion better for your team.

k9tofive 0 Posted August 9, 2006 Every year I take rb, rb and seem to lose out because I am not getting the best player at any position. I doubt that going RB-RB is causing underhwelming performance. It is prob the middle/late rounds. Do you have the league archives to see who you (or more importantly the other owners) picked in the later rounds? This is where a team is made. "Trying to get LT or SA" is not a winning strategy. I think using the Depth charts, Tiering and/or ADP could help you see where positions are deep and whether or not you can "wait" on a position. And that (I am learning myself) is the key: FILLING A POSITION and not drafting a player. Once you get into the mindset of needing "WR John Smith" when you REALLY need a #2 WR that will score x points I think your results will improve. But definetly, if you can, take a look at past drafts. I am kicking myself this year that I accidently deleted them when I migrated to a laptop from a desktop. . . Thanks for the input but this league is really won with the 1st 4 rounds because of the strick limit on how many players you are aloud to draft. Since you are only aloud to tak 3 rb's you have to make sure none of them have the same bye week. Also looking over the last 3 drafts in this league it is a clear advantage for those people who have drafted in the top 4 picks. Infact only 3 teams even made the playoff who didn't draft in the top 5. The way the drafts go it seems to all rbs in the 1st round and on the snake coming back the 1st 4 picks are usually rb, rb. This allows the top of the dradt to get the crream of the crop in rb, and wr. Just looking to mix it up and stick it to these dudes.
Vilma=GOD 0 Posted August 9, 2006 I think taking 2 of the top 11 rbs would easily help you win if you go Wr/wr on the next turn.
Me_2006 14 Posted August 9, 2006 I agree with the earlier post of going with 2 of the top 11 RB's with your first 2 picks. Especially with the question marks at QB around the league, and the unpredictable nature of WR's not named Harrison or Holt. Stick with your consistency and snag two top backs. Then look to fill your roster with the top players available in their respective postions but keep in mind the depth at the postion, reaching to take a less than stellar WR with plenty still on the board while you also need a starting QB and only one remains before you get down to the likes of the David Carr's and Chad Pennington's can ruin a season and keep a team that once had promise out of the playoffs. lguero1 4 Posted August 9, 2006 you are in the perfect position in a ten team league. everyone else will be taking a risk on their RB2, you'll be set. take 2 of those 11.
brya31 0 Posted August 9, 2006 I would definately take 2 of the top 11 rbs.
g5jamz 0 Posted August 9, 2006 I like the RB-WR route ONLY because it gives you flexibility at the next round. You're not locked into trying to scramble for two RBs or two WRs.

Yes but the main thing is you dont have to scramble for RBs like everybody else. If theres only 1 WR that he thinks is worth that pick then he could just take a QB/Gates if he thinks a WR he likes will be there next pick.
rsouth00 0 Posted August 9, 2006 I hate last pick!!! You'll always have this dilemna. My answer, take the best RB in the first and follow it with the best available player (WR or RB) in the second. I'd rather have a high scoring WR (ie. S Smith, T Holt, T Owens, etc) than a mediocre RB. Personally, after the top 10 RB's, the numbers are pretty much an even wash unless you gamble on a potential sleeper RB (I think C Taylor could be a great pick this year but wouldn't waste a second round pick on him). Then in the 3rd try to snatch up the next best player again for positional strength. Again, I'd rather pick A Gates (would should put up very good numbers again this year) over a poor RB or mediocre WR. Hopefully there will be run on WR's in the 3rd and you might pick up C Taylor, Addai, Bush???. Good Luck, and screw those people who have the 9 picks ahead of you - bastards!!!! ullloveit 0 Posted August 9, 2006 The real think to think about id that each owner is only aloud to draft 3 rb's. It is not like other drafts where people load up on rb's. After they take their 2 starters no one takes their 3 rb until round 6 or 7. I was hoping to use that to my advantage. ThaNks for all the replies., Great stuff!!!
