Ten Days of Concerts - Day 10 (craziest concert you've been too)

Recommended Posts

Marilyn Manson back in the day was a bit crazy, but moreso for the amount of freaks dressed up and walking around the venue.

Flaming Lips I went to in April was pretty nuts. Wayne came through the audience on a lit up unicorn at one point, and sang a song from atop the crowd in a plastic bubble. Confetti, balloons, just all kindsa crazy going on all the time.

Also, last one for those who realize this has now jumped the shark

Happy Friday fockers, bone thugs tonight :headbanger:

1.Summerjam '79 Ted Nugent was the headliner at Arrowhead Stadium and during his set a few people on the field began tossing smashed down Coca Cola cups in the air that then turned into probably 50 or so doing it.Nugent saw this and screamed to the crowd,"Throw that focking sh!t Kansas City!" Suddenly the entire space just above the field became a giant popcorn like maker of cups, plastic bottles etc. being thrown in the air.I was sitting in the lower level witnessing this and it was a crazy scene of 100 yards of a full days trash being thrown everywhere.

2.I have no idea what the promoter was thinking but in the 80's a show was announced with basically 2 headliners KISS and Molly Hatchet,I had not seen MH and wanted to badly so some friends and I went.Talk about a crazy pairing, there were KISS freaks including kids dressed up,face painted etc. and then there were whiskey drinking, cowboy hat wearing, southern rockin' rednecks and then a few of us with jeans and a concert t-shirt.For a stoner who likes to people watch it was quite amusing.

Ice-T's heavy metal band Body Count came to Tipitina's in New Orleans. Small venue. The crowd was half white and half black. You could feel all the racial tension in the air the moment you stepped in. Everybody was nervous. All of the white people were there to hear Body Count, and most of the black peeps were there to hear rap. When he came out, he opened with "Down With The Body Count". There were two hard core huge gansta mother fawkers dressed in all black army fatigues standing at each end of the stage. And they were holding shot guns.

The place was going fawking wild. At one point in the show, Ice-T told a story about how that morning he was standing in his hotel lobby looking at the brochures of things to do in New Orleans. One of them was a brochure for a plantation. It read, Come and see how plantation owners and slaves lived. Ice-T says, "Come see how the slaves lived? Fawk that!!! I tell you how they lived...." All of a sudden some black guy standing next to us starts shouting "Down whith whitey!!!" A couple of others joined in. Needless to say, and I can speak for all the white folk there, we was all sh!tting our pants. Ice-T tells hears him and tells him to shut up and then goes on a five minute rant on how we all should be getting along. And how the man doesn't want us to get along. It was actually a moving speech. So moving that the the same black started saying "Down with whitey" again. Ice-T looks at the two gangstas and then at the guy, points at him, and says, "Give that motherfawker a backstage pass!!!" So these two huge scary people jumped off the stage and cut through the crowd like the red Sea, grabbed the guy, and threw him through a side area door. It was just like you see in the movies. Every body just kind of stood there in silence for a second. And then Ice played "Evil D!ck".

Great show. Oh, and my buddy got stabbed and didn't even know it. We were walking to our cars after the show. One of us noticed he had blood on the back of his shirt and a three inch cut. He didn't need stitches, but he got cut. I see him from time to time. He loves to tell the story about he got cut by a.......

I'd say Lollapalooza 1992. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush, RATM.

When Ministry played, people were lighting debris fires all over the grass and moshing around them. Throwing shirts and random trash on fire all over the place. I was on quite a bit of LSD, and didn't enjoy that part of the show too much. Went into one of the porto-potty's and hid out for the entire Ministry set. Good memories.

I went to that show. People were getting sick watching Ministry. I couldn't watch them either.
