Can anyone here play an instrument

Recommended Posts

I know some of you play the meat flute but can anyone here actually play a real instrument? If you can do you do it often and enjoy it?

Guitar

I play regularly and definitely enjoy it.

The only time I dont enjoy it is when I have to learn a new song I dont really like. That feels like work.

I actually have an acoustic guitar but dont know how to play it. Its hard for me to try and get my fingers right on the cords. Sometimes I dont think my fingers can all bend the way they should for it or at least long enough to strum cords or change to a different one

I played trumpet growing up, was quite good. For thread symbiosis, Rusty also played trumpet. I mentioned a while back that I had a silver Bach Stradivarius and Rusty wanted to buy it.

I can still play but it doesn't sound good if your lip isn't in shape.

But, I did learn about music and chords, and as such picked up piano and guitar.

Played the quads and triples In band camp. Travelled the country doing competitions.

But mostly doing Darla.

Played at the Fiesta bowl one year. ASU is gorgeous. And so are the women.

Also did the Rose Bowl Parade. I remember that sucking. Probably because I was really hungover.

I think there's a national competition or something at Madison Wisconsin. Jesus, I thought Texas mosquitos were huge.

Mostly, I learned that high school movies are right. Anytime you bring in a consultant to work on things like cheerleading or marching band or crap like that? They are fuucking weird miserable people.

But mostly sloppy fuucking Darla All Summer Long was a lot of fun.

Started learning piano 5 years ago, take lessons, mostly enjoy it, there are some days when it's a bit more frustrating than fun.

How was skin flute not the first answer?

That can be our band name. The Skinflutes. Or Fandandy and the Skinflutes. Or Fandandy's Sweet Ass Band.

Because Dumbo13 ruined the joke by saying meat flute in the OP

I play a little bass, percussion and keyboards, mostly freestyle when playing to someone else's music or when I write my own.

I joined band in 6th grade, as it interested me more than general music class. Just stayed through high school.

In hind sight, I wish Id played football. I mean Im not that athletic at all, but in high school I was 63 230 lbs with really long arms. Our football team sucked. Im sure I could have been a starting lineman at least. Would have been good for me.

I was also a letter athlete in two sports. As such I was king of the band. While you were sitting on the bus next to a sweaty guy on the way home from a football game, I was feeling up a flag twirler.:)

Dudes in the band were focking nerds, don't get mad at us, we didn't make the rules.

At my HS, the band played at the football and basketball games, so you couldnt play those sports and be in the band even if you wanted to.

Other than the drums, none of those instruments seemed cool or fun. And dont get me started on the songs. Pink Panther was the closest thing to listenable they ever did.

Its just hard to get excited about tubas and clarinets when youre listening to Van Halen and AC/DC all the time.

So, you enjoyed sitting next to sweaty guys in pretend gladiator clothes. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
