SNF: Denver vs New England: In-Game Discussion

Recommended Posts

So the Pats roll into Denver with no Edelman, no Lewis, maybe now no Amendola, maybe even no Dobson.... Brady put up a paltry 15 vs Buffalo at home in a fairly standard league I'm in.

And the Broncos have Osweiller as an unknown commodity, Sanders dinged... Hillman, CJ Anderson.... I don't think we know what we get in this game.

Who are you starting and benching?

>>> My main concern is the Broncos DST. Ordinarily any defense is an auto-bench vs the Pats but I'm wondering here if that is the right move. The Broncos are the no. 1 NFL and FF defense, at home, the Pats are shorthanded, the Pats are due to lose, and this game has far greater playoff implications for the Broncos than the Pats who are now 2 up on the Bengals for HFA. BB may even hide his hand somewhat in expectation that he meets Denver in the playoffs.

OTOH if Oz is exposed by BB it could be a long night for the Broncs.

I am a huge Pats fan... That being said, I would not sit Denver D vs. Pats at this time

Brady will have some dancin' to do with that Denver D keeping him very busy I think.

Aside from that, God knows what is going to happen... Hoodie will figure out how to put Brady in best position for another win.

That's why you have 53 guys on a roster...next man up!

The thing about the Pats in the BB/Brady era is that they always seem to pull a rabbit out of the hat at the darkest hour. They seem to get some fluky call go their way (the "tuck rule" way back) or the light just seems to go on (like last year against the Bengals after their mediocre start). The question is whether this is really their darkest hour.... The receiver injuries hurt Brady some, but the overall receiving corps isn't any worse (and probably better) than the Panthers (and that hasn't slowed Cam down - though he does have mobility on his side). I wouldn't shy away from the Broncos D, but they may be playing on a short field if Oz gets exposed by BB (as you suggest). That could lead to a fair amount of points for the Pats, but maybe not gaudy yards. Perhaps Gostkowski is the best play (as has been the case all year).

Im starting Brady and not overthinking myself and playing a worse player. Remember when Luck was supposed to have an all time bad game vs them a few weeks ago and played great?

That's the worst news I've heard all day. There goes your season and you are taking us all down with you.

I think we're looking at a defensive battle.

Brady has no weapons whatsoever other than Rob Gronkowski. And the run game sucks, Blount just isn't getting it done (maybe due to all the o-line issues).

Broncos have an inexperienced guy at the helm going against a bill belichick defense. Run game will be their best bet.

I'm sure these teams will score some points somehow but I think we're looking at a 20-17 type game with scores mostly coming off turnovers and such

I posted this in the other forum, but I think the Broncos could be back on track with Osweiler running a more efficient offense and players returning. I would love to get other's take on the DST since I live in Denver and probably have a little bit of a homer bias.

My original post: "Broncos defense making a comeback!"

I live in Denver and reaped the early season benefits of the Denver DST. People are concerned about this recent performance, but Ware has been out and Talib missed a game. (Ware really is the leader of the D). With him returning soon, the Broncos should be getting back on track.

However, I just saw KC get scooped off waivers this week and am regretting not making that move myself since they are playing well and have a great schedule. Would you stash any of these DSTs as a backup to Denver? Denver has Week 12 vs NE and 16 vs Cincy

Waiver options:

Cincy, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, NYG, Dallas, Houston, Tennessee

Good post.

Is Ware actually back this week? I couldn't find any info. Talib is back I believe.

KC is long gone in my main league as of a few weeks ago. I don't think Houston, Atl, Dallas or Pitt have good matchups. Cincy might be worth a shot since they are maybe facing Foles IIRC, but even Keenum is a good matchup. However.... I expect the Rams will be all ramped up to win one for Bailey, they could be dangerous too.

I am probably going to leave the Broncs in place at this point if Ware is back, would like to get some confirmation somehow though.

I'm trying to find a decent flex to start so I can bench Lafell who will be covered by Talib and seems to be falling out of favor by Brady

You should have no worries starting the Broncos D - they are Fabiano's "sit of the week".

That fabiano dood has actually been an overall top 5 "expert" this season out of the everyone doing weekly rankings on Fantasy Pros..

I have the Denver Defense and they were great but this last month has been pretty pedestrian..

I am debating either trading Denver d and someone like Willie Snead or Allen Hurns to get the Chiefs surging defense and much better schedule..

My other move would be to use Cleveland this week vs the Baltimore Practice Squads err Ravens and play the streaming game to see what Denver can do..

The only thing that keeps talking to me is I remember all of us Denver Defense owners were buggin out when they had to play an undefeated Green Bay team in primetime, and Denver did well enough to supposedly become Matchup Proof that night..

I would hate to give up Denver's defense for K.C., only to watch Denver get back to their dominant ways once Ware returns so I'm not certain what I'm gonna do but in the end I may just ride with Denver and hope Oz gives them a breather and scores some points so they can pin their ears back and collapse pockets weekly.....

He's back on the field. But it's just strength and conditioning according to reports. Sounds like he's at least two more weeks away. But I'm 9-2 so I am able to be patient with him and the Broncos D.

I see the dude in my league is benching Brady and playing McCown. I think the beating he took by me last week jolted him into thinking even Brady is no longer a given without his toys to play with. I see he has not benched Gronk which is understandable because the ceiling for most TEs is much smaller.

I got cute and benched Brady once this year. Would've won with Brady. Never again.

There will be more snow in Denver tomorrow night. Predicting about 3 inches at game time on top of what we have already gotten this week. I don't expect a high scoring game but somehow the O/U is still at 43. Hopefully bad weather will lead to less points and more turnovers, so I'm going with my hometown team!

Starting Gost and Demaryius

Benching Denver D for NYG...possible Oz turnovers + Brady make me wary of starting Denver D. If Cousins kills me so be it.

Going to the game tonight and super excited, despite the weather is going to be freezing.

As far as FF, I have no idea what is going to happen tonight. Between three of my leagues, starting Brady, Blount and LaFell bc I really don't have any better options.

Would love to see Broncos down by 14 or so at half, they pull Brock and put in Manning who leads them to an amazing 2nd half and game winning 4qtr drive!

I'm making a potentially huge blunder and sitting Brady for the first time all season. He has almost no weapons against a top D; it's Dalton time for me.

Read this to mean that Brady is getting 350 and 3 TD.

Dalton is starting his standard late season slump and now you're starting him?

I'm really rolling the dice, I know. Brady is in the worst spot a QB can be, imho. No weapons on the road against one of the top D in the league.

FWIW, I'd probably bench him too. Very few weapons in the passing game and the run game isn't going to help him much. Also the o-line is shaky and I think you'll see that come to the forefront more and more as Brady can't just get the ball out super quick to compensate. He got hit a dozen times or more last game

In Indy.

You sit Brady here. I am, and am playing Hoyer, who I think is going to DOUBLE Brady's points. I should have listened to my little voice last week and sat Brady, and I didn't - and lost by 3 points in so doing.

I think with Manning, the Broncos lose to NE in Denver. I think Osweiler makes them win this game because of his ability to stretch the field.

20-17 Denver.

Unless you 'got cute' and benched him last week, I could in no way support such a thought. Last week was the first and only time I seriously considered it, and ignored my little voice.

This week, the voice is screaming at the top of its lungs. Brady=benched.

He's gonna throw it 70 times.

Sometimes snow helps his receivers. DBs slipping on crossing routes all day.

He's not going to have the ball enough to throw it 70 times. I'm absolutely not waffling on this one: Hoyer is the play here.

Obviously would like to see the Pats lay the wood today, but just don't think it's going to happen. It's been basically a footnote in this thread so far, but the New England offensive line is a glaring weakness right now. Against a fast and aggressive defense like Denver, with their cover guys, oh man Brady is going to get teed up. He'll be lucky to come out of this game on two feet, I'm calling it.

The Pats offensive line is a wreck. The unit which was ranked pre-season at #7 by Fantasy Index, is a shell of itself. The center Stork was on early season IR with a concussion, and is just returning to take Wendell's place who started the season at guard. Now Wendell is on IR. Their other guard Cannon was moved outside to replace Solder, who went on IR with a bicep. Vollmer has been out with a concussion. They were forced to play the rookie Tre Jackson at guard and he's missed time with a meniscus injury. By the way VERY few rookie offensive linemen have made an impact this season yet Jackson went immediately into the line up. They've brought back Cam Fleming, a 4th round bust from 2014 who they cut. Kline and Barker are basically fire drill guys they signed off the street, the team being so desperate it gave Kline a 2 year extension.

This is going to be an ugly game for the Pats and Tom Brady. New England may win the contest if it can scheme Osweiler into making bonehead mistakes, but fantasy wise I can't see anyone but the Denver defense here.

Not benching brady. Don't care how mediocre he's been, don't care who he's playing or what the weather is or who's hurt. Just not doing it.

Whatever Brady does, I'll take the result. Dalton 240 and 3 TD. Good enough.

Well, I'd give Hoyer's points to play Brady at this point. POS Saints, who can't even make a game of it and give Hoyer reason to throw.

9 passes. One run for the Pats.

I called it. They are gonna do the throw gameplan.
