cyclone24 1,805 Posted July 17, 2018 So we bought a house this weekend. It's maybe a half a mile from our current house on a lake. But boundary wise it falls to another Elementary School in our area so my seven-year-old would have to go to a different School this year. BUT... Enrollment starts tomorrow and we don't close on the house until the end of August about the time school has started. So we could conceivably move but keep her in the same school she's gone to her first two years, give her a chance to get to know the kids in the new neighborhood that go to the other school and then in third grade have her go to the new school. Or we wait and just move her to the new school where she doesn't know anybody. Thoughts? (Can size zero)
Gladiators 1,904 Posted July 17, 2018 What does your wife think? Is one of the schools better than the other?
cyclone24 1,805 Posted July 17, 2018 What does your wife think? Is one of the schools better than the other? Same schools...same district. She sees benefits either way.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted July 17, 2018 Id go ahead and switch her. Go ahead and let her make new friends and all that. If she stays another year at the old school, it will just be harder a year from now.
DankNuggs 305 Posted July 17, 2018 Presuming there is no bus/transportation impact Id probably keep them in the same school and rationalize it by saying I was going to ease too many major changes at once. Probably better to rip the bandaid off and get them with the classmates theyll have for the next few years. No bad answer
wiffleball 4,631 Posted July 17, 2018 My folks kept moving while I was in school. But I kept finding them.
Reality 2,710 Posted July 17, 2018 Been there, easier to go ahead and get the move over with. She's young enough where it won't matter much.
NorthernVike 2,080 Posted July 17, 2018 The younger the better. Change now.
MTSkiBum 1,593 Posted July 17, 2018 I went to: Kindergarten in Stanton, North Dakota 1-2 grade in Riverdale, North Dakota 3-7 in Madison, West Virginia 7-10 in Gillette, Wyoming (switched in the middle of the year both times) 10-12 in sheridan, Wyoming I would not be too worried about moving my kids in elementary school.
