Does anyone realize that the Red Wings have.....

Wow, Detroit. Journey, Bon Jovi, and the Versus record for most televised jerseys tucked into jeans? Don't stop believin'. Great series, looking forward to Wings/Hawks. Classic meteor series...

    Favorite opening scenes of movies

Way of the Gun Salty language, if anyone's at work.

IU Prez: "We Never Should've Hired Sampscum."

Not surprisingly, that didn't take long. Loosier fans went from crowing about long-since-faded glory to bragging about how the kick ass recruiter-coach Sampscum enable a quick return to elite status then back to humming Glory Days in record time. Truly, IU is a joke.

The worst movie in the history of movies.........

This is the worst thread in the history of FFToday.
  5. Seeing headlines like these, about a program like IU, will never get old. McRobbie: Sampson hiring 'a risk that should not have been taken' IU AD to resign amid recruiting violations allegations Indiana faces another NCAA charge, uncertain future Crawford tells Indiana he's not returning next season If the 2008-09 IU basketball trainwreck is half as enjoyable for us Loosier haters as this offseason has been, we're in for a real treat.

So what happened to Giants Fan?

One of my favorite posters on the board, and not only because of the response he generates.

Bruce Weber is a piece of crap

Damn, 4 weeks and 1 day...I gave the Loosiers too much credit. Gordon: 3-15 fg (0-6, 3pt), 2-6 ft, 8pts, 3 reb, 1 ast, 3 to Ha. Ha.

    **Official Thursday Sign-In** thread

No surfing at work, but I'll be back to hopefully catch the tail end of this.

And I maintain that any program truly concerned about following the rules and protecting it's pure-as-the-driven-snow image would've never hired Sampscum in the first place.

Naw, I'll cry over Gordon for about 5 more weeks. As far as hating IU goes...has nothing to do with ancient history; hell, I hate Iowa, and they haven't done squat. But keep pointing to dusty banners if it makes you feel better about a once-elite program now lying (thanks, try the veal) in a bed of its own making.

Shoot, I'm just glad I got reap correct. Great contribution, BTW.

Jesus, dude. Re-read what I wrote. Slowly, if you have to. Especially the part where I said that the mixed reaction at the games showed a fanbase that wasn't 100% ready to show Cellvin the door. Shoot, you wrote as much in your misguided post where Boers & Bernstein were first mentioned. (Which, by the way, is still comic genius). Never have I said that students chanting his name = entire fanbase wanting him to stay. That would be kind of ridiculous. Third chance. And I'm glad we're clear that IU is just like every other school busted of cheating in that the multiple early infractions were OK ("we are going to punish you, but just enough to hopefully show we're not hypocrites") so long as the recruiting classes stacked up nicely, and there was a little bit of success. The most annoying thing about IU fans, aside from their over-inflated opinion of their program's place in the NCAA hierarchy, are their attitudes about IU being such a clean program...somehow above the fray. Thank you for agreeing with me that they're just another face in the cheating crowd. My issue from the start with Gordon was the timing of his decision. The 11th hour decommit prevented Illinois from filling that spot, or targeting highly rated targets who had interest in Illinois prior to Gordon taking a spot. If what you say is true, and Gordon was ready to decommit immediately after Davis was dismissed, that pretty much cements my opinion that he, his father, and his former coach are twats. But that's for another thread...this one is about Sampscum being a twat, and everyone at IU who are painting that program as innocent victims as twats.

I am crying with laughter over the assertion that those two asshats are Illinois fans, or would never say anything detrimental about the school. Shoot, I'd be hard pressed to come up with any broadcaster or columnist in Chicago (aside from Moron-otti, who is either anti- or pro-Illini, depending on which side riles up the most people) with a more palpable anti-Illini bent, especially when it concerns Ron Zook. You clearly don't know anything about UI football, or the fan base, and the fact that you rely on Boers and Bernstein for your unverified knowledge and opinions is telling. You: "At IU, despite the success, people demanded him gone immediately..." Me: "...the crowds chanting his name at the conclusion of the MSU and PU games seemed plenty 'fine' with a cheating coach." You: "So a few people chant his name, mostly kids at the game, and that represents the fan base? " Me: Yes, I think students represent a fanbase. And while I acknowledge that there were probably IU fans who wanted The Tumor cut out of the program as quickly as possible, I think that the audible chants of his name at the conclusion of both the MSU and PU wins (would be curious to see what the response would've been after a loss) is evidence that he still had supporters within the fanbase. Perception is reality, and the perception of the IU fanbase following both these televised games was perfect...some wanted him gone, but Cellvin still had some love in Bloomington. You may be a tad guilty of revisionist history if you are seriously trying to portray IU fanbase as some kind of naive victim, united in defiance of big, bad, Kelvin Sampson's lies and unethical behaviour. Where was this holier-than-thou outrage in October?

If Sampson was squeaky clean before coming to IU, and this was his first sign of non-compliance while at Bloomington, I'd commend them for their quick dismissal of a cheater. Fact is, IU knew they had a coach with a suspect past who showed up on campus under investigation with NCAA penalties pending. They sold their soul to the devil in exchange for some recruiting wins and some hopeful short term success on the court...and now payment's come due. Now they're praying that his dismissal is enough to keep the NCAA placated. We should all be lucky to get a $750,000 check upon firing...and I'm pretty sure this was a third chance. The second chance came back in October, when it first came to light that Sampson made 100ish impermissible phone calls and some three-way conference calls. Cost him a $500,000 raise among other things...but not his job, even though IU is so hardcore about the rules, their image, and such...weird. IU would've never gotten into bed with Sampscum if they were as pristine as you make them out to be,. They would've been "better" than to need to go slumming for a new coach with a sketchy past. I think they panicked because the program has been pretty much irrelevant for the last decade-plus, and they decided to roll the dice. Came up craps, and now the IU program is tarnished. As my man McNulty says..."Play in the dirt, you get dirty." Also, the crowds chanting his name at the conclusion of the MSU and PU games seemed plenty "fine" with a cheating coach. Wonder if they were "considering what the team's record was..." I never suggested it was the phone calls that were a singular cause for the 11th hour decommit. Now if you want to talk about the hiring of his AAU coach and father's former college coach to the IU staff PLUS the phone calls...well, all's fair in love, war, and recruiting, I guess... Still waiting on the names of the "7 of their 2008 recruits (who had verbaled elsewhere)" who "decided at the last minute to play for Zook" at Illinois...

Haha, IU...you sanctimonious twats. You reap what you sew.
