titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted January 27, 2012 I gotta go with two... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQiXQUGbac0 I love this song for two reasons. First, the alliteration is amazing. Secondly, the lyrics are just... wow. I particularly love the bit that goes... I'm going to find myself a girl Who can show me what laughter means And we'll fill in the missing colors In each other's paint-by-number dreams And then we'll put out dark glasses on And we'll make love until our strength is gone And when the morning light comes streaming in We'll get up and do it again Get it up again I'm going to be a happy idiot And struggle for the legal tender Where the ads take aim and lay their claim To the heart and the soul of the spender And believe in whatever may lie In those things that money can buy Thought true love could have been a contender Are you there? Say a prayer for the pretender Who started out so young and strong Only to surrender And this is perhaps my very favorite song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIw0ewEsNHs I love the juxtaposition between religion and sex. Like the line... "Remember when I moved in you, and the Holy Dove was moving too, and every breath we drew was Hallelujah?" That's just naughty. [This is a cover btw, the original is Leonard Cohen, for the purists out there. ]
gocolts 300 Posted January 27, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqxDUMcVjws I liked this song when it first came out. Then, my wife left me and this song hit so close to home, I couldn't even bring myself to listen to it anymore. Every time it came on the radio, I switched the station immediately. November 17 2010 all that changed when I got my son back. So I was able to start listening to it again. In fact, I started listening to it again on that very day after not being able to for years. gocolts 300 Posted January 27, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK64MJShNNk THis song has some meaning for me as well. I went to a strip club for the first time ever when I was 19 with a friend of mine. So we sit down and the very first chick I ever saw strip in a strip club danced to this song. so I lost my stripper cheery to this song.

That is a great story, that really shows the power of music. I hear songs and am transported to other times and places in my life, some great, some painful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK64MJShNNk THis song has some meaning for me as well. Giants Fan 85 Posted January 27, 2012 GFIAFP posted this some time last year and I really liked it. It's currently the first song on my run list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MxcbB0SFao&feature=fvsr There was another thread, about Snow Patrol and Arcade Fire .... and I listened to a lot of Snow Patrol songs that I didn't particularly like. But that one song, Spitting Games .... is awesome. And apparently Snow Patrol fans, don't really like that one very much .... which makes me like it more. Never could find an Arcade Fire song I liked, But how about this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N31oFeinFY Wouldn't know about it at all if I wasn't a fan of Breaking Bad. Awesome song. Every REALLY good song has "La La La" somewhere in it.

Giants Fan 85 Posted January 27, 2012 I'm not a heavy metal fan ... but I like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rWhdrtUJvA If there's chicks in the band ... I probably like them. The lead singer is a little too Ozzy influenced for my tastes ... but those 2 chicks can play some friggin rock and roll on the bass and guitar. They are talented. Giants Fan 85 Posted January 27, 2012 My brother was a singer and a song writer. And he could play about 200 songs, on the piano, and sing them. All songs he wrote himself. SUXBNME 1,322 Posted January 27, 2012 Tiki, you so focked up this thread with your first post by giving GiantsFan credit for something Also, Quicksand Jesus is important to me not so much as the message but for how passionate Sebastian sings it. The sh1t makes giddy everytime I listen to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vZ9YxjjHP8 Another example of the above comment, with Axl instead of Sebastian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpmAY059TTY&ob=av3e The song 'Estranged' reminds me of a time when I was focking everything in sight, enjoying life to its fullest, but didn't understand that I treated my possible only real love with contempt at the time when I should have not been so damn shallow. B!tch broke my heart, but it was well deserved. The lyrics and composition just flow for me. Misty eyed big time. Isn't that what music is about? If your favorite songs can't bring out some type of emotion in you, then what's the purpose? It's not like you're gonna cry listening to The Number Of The Beast, but you might get kinda sentimental listening to "Still Loving You" by the Scorpions

SUXBNME 1,322 Posted January 27, 2012 OMG ... I hate Guns and Posers and all that crap. I bet you like Def Lepard too. When you were listening to that, I was listening to: That's why you are like an angry republican, even though you live in a really nice house, that you likely didn't pay for as a grease monkey ... party all the time ... cooking jalapeno poppers and drinkin' queers lite. I'm just like you, but a democrat with a University education that drinks Heineken. Those were the days. huh? Maybe I should move to ... Nice house? Not so much. The ultimate anti establishment punk song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LLCMMPY2ZI LYRICS: Well they took you from your mother's womb and put you in a school Told you how to run your life by following the rules Told you not to pick your nose or disrespect the queen Scrub your teeth three times a day keep mind and body clean Save up all your pocket money, nothing is for free And you'd better trust your parents cos there's no one else you see And then they send you off each day remember what you're told "You may think you don't need teaching but you'll need it when you're old" And if you're too intelligent they'll cut you down to size They'll praise you til you're happy then they'll fill you full of lies Cos intelligence is threatening and genius is sin If you could ever see through them they know they'd never win So they channel your ability into the right direction If you're good enough and rich enough you can be a politician On the other hand if your too thick they'll tell you that you're lazy They'll put you down and wind you up until it drives you crazy They'll say you ought to learn a trade to help you in your life Success is written in three parts: A job, a house, a wife They'll say that school prepares you for the awesome world outside Well it certainly gives you bigotry and patriotic pride Racism, sexism teacher to class From school to work remains the sameare you white and middle class? You'll learn that bad men dress in black and good men dress in white And the pamphlets in the playground say that's right And that girls were made for housework and boys were made to fight And the naughty pictures on page 3 make everything alright And so from school to the outside world these morals you will take And unless you can reject them you'll have your mind at stake They'll give you a decision when you get to 18, too The right to vote for someone else who says he cares for you But the only thing he cares about is getting to the top By conning you with empty words that promise you a lot But the end result is slavery to a false set of ideals You'll be tempted to believe them cos they'll seem so very real The slavery of attitudes that make you keep in line Subconsciously devoted to the morals of our time And when you end up on the dole which you very likely will They'll offer you a brand new trade: Learning how to kill Why don't you join the army? Be a man and not a fool There's someone else to think for you just like there was at school They'll promise you absolution from the murders you'll commit In the name of god and country they can get away with it They fill you full of orders and promise you rewards Like busting up your family by sending you abroad A holiday in Germany or Iceland or Hong Kong Making money being useless well it seems it can't go wrong But then it's off to Northern Ireland where you'll practice what they preached You'll shoot to keep yourself alive and kill to keep the peace And then it won't be so much fun as you hear the wounded crying Cos before they couldn't speak english and you didn't know what they were saying But when the children call you "Bastard" it will make you think again When you cannot tell the difference between animals and men Animals don't wear uniforms but they kill as much as you But the army kills for money and animals kill for food It's the basest degredation in the name of what is right Become something you never were and regret it til you die Cos your father will tell you "Sonny, you must do as you are told" And you'll say the same thing to your kids when you're 32 years old And unless you can react against the brainwash from the start Your government will rule your mind and your mind will rule your heart You'll conform to every social law and be the system's slave From birth to school to work to death, from the cradle to the grave.....
