Any one of these eminently qualified candidates would destroy Obummer in the general election, but I'm going with Newt Gingrich on account of his nimble mind and natural manly charisma.

Right now.....

I would vote for Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul over Obama.

I wold flip a coin between Mitt Romney and Obama.

I would vote for Obama over the others mentioned (Palin, Cain, Bachman, etc.)

I have no idea. I'm hoping that Paul Ryan decides to enter this race. If he does, he will step on Obama hard. I don't think the other candidates have any where near as good a chance.

I think that Palin or Bachmann would be a terribly fun Presidency. I would love to see all the haids of liberals 'sploding all over.

I think either one would be a very fun candidate. Neither has a shot at the presidency.

I'm surprised you're not a Santorum guy.

I'm thinking cooler heads will prevail and Romney will get the nomination, but it will be between him, Pawlenty, and Newt.

I like Santorum, because he doesn't take BS. I do not like politicians who think that they can instill religious morays at the Federal Level. This should have nothing to do with religious anything at the Federal level. I think politicians like Santorum have become such vocal social Conservatives as a knee-jerk to the encroaching liberal social activism that has succeeded in driving our society left so hard - so I understand his position.

I just think the proper way to fight such encroachments is with Federalism. These are State's Rights issues.

I would also say that the only reason you're surprised is because you're listening to lefties consistently misrepresent my positions on issues.

The fight between the Repubs for their nomination will ne better than the actual election with the Dems.

It's like those old 49er/Dallas or 49er/Giants NFC Championship games. Whoever won you knew was going to rout the AFC in the Superbowl.

I should also say that I would love to see Chris Christie enter if Paul Ryan does not. I cannot see that, though, as I know that Christie's position is that he promised the people of New Jersey that fixing the problems there would take at least 4 years, and that he would stay to solve them.

That - conveniently - also puts him in line with a 2016 run, if his heart doesn't stop before then.

I saw Paul Ryan on one of the Sunday morning shows. He is not running, as he knows he wouldn't win. He is aiming at 2016.

Despite all the hysteria on this bored, Obama is not, at the moment, in too much peril of being picked off. Of course, much will happen between now and the election, and that could change.

What about this Jon Huntsman guy? I just read a little about him today, seems moderate enough to bring in indpendents.

I don't think so. I think socialism/liberalism has been instilled so much in this country - half now more on the dole than contributing anything meaningful - that any marginal candidate who speaks the truth and has the power to deliver the proper medicine can be drowned out by the addicted entitlement mentality which is so easy to continue to be played by the left.

That's why I think that charisma is so important this time around. McCain was an awful choice and didn't have the right message.

This time, though, Obama does have much baggage. I think, though, that the media will protect him, and only a really good candidate can punch enough holes in that defensive front to make a difference.

I think Ryan and Christie would be such choices, but I don't see many others with enough of the whole package.

I would say its going to come down to Bigfatnewt or Mr. Mormon. Not that it matters neither one will be good enough to sway enough voters to their side to win the election.

I was surprised cause you usually take the most extreme fringe right POV on every social issue.

:dunno:

It's extreme only to you. I'm a run-of-the-mill Christian (not extreme by any standard), and I believe in abortion until about the 15th day.

Those aren't extreme positions. They are only called extreme by those on the opposite end, as part of a strategy.

Part of what makes liberalism - and Centralism - so dangerous is that there will not and cannot be harmony amongst people. I cannot espouse my personal views here without so many lefties getting immediately downright nasty.

You've been conditioned to do so, because you're all so frightened that such views - views which are largely mainstream, but do not jibe with your liberalism - will become law over you.

You hate that, so you fight as nasty as possible to try to stop it. Nevermind how alien your entire POV would be to the vast majority of this country from as little as 40 years ago: that's for another conversation.

The point is that you simply do not understand how someone with such staunchly Conservative (fiscal and social) views would co-exist harmoniously with someone nearly Socialist (and you may not be, but others here definitely are): it happens through State's Rights.

I believe the candidate who can eloquently educate and carry the message of Federalism is a good choice right now. For that reason, I would vote for Ron Paul in a heartbeat over any Democrat candidate, regardless what I think of his foreign policy.

Federalism. If you want to fock up a state with liberalism, do so. Just don't fock up where I want to live by growing Federal Government so big that it becomes the de facto law of the land in each State.

Newt is dead man walking, people. Newt doesn't have a prayer in hell. When he chose to try to slam Paul Ryan's plan, he committed GOP candidate suicide.

I was thinking mainly of your birtherism. :dunno:

You're misled. As is your wont - and the tendency of most liberals - you hear what you want to hear, and don't really care to acknowledge nuance in a position. That's why you turned literally anyone who wondered why Obama wouldn't just show a long-form into a birther.

I'm not threatened by your views, I just think you're a condescending blowhard.

You do realize that you simply validate exactly what I was claiming you do by answering this way, don't you?

As usual. You turn it personal, once again. There is no need to insult. You consider anyone who doesn't agree with your liberalism - and doesn't simply give up after one shot at explaining the counter to your positions - a condescending blowhard.

It's just more of the same from your type. Elevate conversations, for once in your life, instead of trying to always drag them down into the gutter.

I can verbally spar anywhere, but I'd prefer to stay clean. Don't you?

google Rick Santorum

From my brief search, it appears as though he doesn't like homosexuality.

Should fit in fine around here then, right?

You spent weeks repeatedly asking why Obama hadn’t released his long-form birth certificate and suggesting it was because he had something to hide. Then when he did release his birth certificate you started questioning its integrity RE: vector lines etc.

Can anyone here distinguish between this kind of behavior and birtherism? :dunno:

You routinely make wild assumptions about the people you’re verbally sparring with and present them in the most condescending and obnoxious way possible. Hell, you’re the same guy who was trying to bait a geek into meeting for a beer so you could physically intimidate him. There is absolutely no difference between you and anyone else on this site other than your mammoth sense of self-regard and total inability to take the same treatment you dish out all the time.

There is a distinction; you're not seeing it. After he posted his certificate, I didn't question anything. I posted someone's objection for the comic hilarity of it.

You're just constantly reinforcing what I've said you do. You hear and believe what you want to hear and believe, regardless what is being said.

And you criticizing anyone and everyone that you do not like shows a hypocritical mammoth sense of self-regard as well, and - as I've pointed out repeatedly - you make your own wild assumptions, and that's been part of my response to you.

Are we done now? You are incapable of holding a conversation without turning it personal. Stop the bullsh!t, guyliner.

You too seem unable to grasp nuance. My point was a nod towards the universally understood truth of the media being tilted left. If you cannot acknowledge such a simple truth, we appear done here.

When did this tilting begin, Einstein? And what is the reason for it? Wouldn't you agree that most network owners are wealthy men? Why would they be so liberal? It makes no sense.

Just because they aren't as radically conservative as your beloved Fox News, doesn't make them slanted left.

Fox news is not conservative. It is capitalist. They cheerleaded Bush for the same policies they criticize Obummer for. If they had any journalistic principles at all they would have some consistency. Instead they just follow the dollar by pandering to the numbnuts. God bless 'em it works though.

I am extremely disappointed in Obama. But that doesn't mean i'm gonna vote for one of these tools running for the Republican nomination. I just don't believe the country is best served by catering to the rich and corporations in the hope that they will then allow something to "trickle down" to the rest of us.

His war policy I hate. I wanted the wars ended day 1. His health care? A failure. I don't know the details of the plan as it exists (anyone here who says they do is a liar) but I'm damn sure its better than what we have now.

I'm sure he will get nothing done the rest of this term. The republicans won't let him. But I think he will probably win re-election. Who know what will happen next term.
