I've got Kareem 3rd All Time.. I agree though, he's normally underrated in those conversations.

Never really tried till the playoffs. Jordan hustled both sides of the ball all year. Only player to win offense and defense player of the year in the same year.

Please, Kareem was owned by Walton and Hakeem, maybe even Moses too

The centers are so tough.

Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Shaq, Hakeem

Wilt and Shaq were most dominant. Bill has all the rings. Kareem all the records. And Hakeem may have been the most skilled of them all.

Tough, especially since most of us, save for drobeski, never saw Wilt and Russell.

Full transparency. I prolly would have ranked Kobe Bryant a couple spots higher, but I have a personal bias against grown ass men who fock cute little blonde 19 year old hotel workers against their will.

But thats just me.

ESPN has him #2(I have him #1, but I'm biased as a Bucks fan), but one stat stood out to me.

The NBA's all-time leader in MVP awards, points and Win Shares. Abdul-Jabbar owns three of the top six seasons of all time in terms of Win Shares, including his 1971-72 season in which he averaged 34.8 points and 16.6 rebounds. Even if you counted only his six seasons before joining the Lakers, Abdul-Jabbar would still rank among the top 50 in NBA history in Win Shares.

And then there is this...

God, this thread is like a Who's Who of NBA players that I focking despise. Only two missing are the gigantic pieces of shiot Karl Malone and Chris Webber.

It's cute when people try their damndest to put players ahead of MJ, even though they know he deserves the top spot. Greatest competitor of all time in any sport

What quantifies him as the greatest "competitor" ? Does he compete any harder than Tom Brady, Derek Jeter?

Yes. Brady is right up there, but no one tops MJ in that department. It permeates every part of his life. He is insufferable because he is such an insane competitor

Lebron isnt anywhere close to the competitor MJ was.

Great player. Physical freak. Front runner.

But not near the competitor MJ was. But no one is.

I also wonder how effective Lebron would have been in an era where defensive players were actually allowed to touch and harass you. I question Lebron's toughness if had to take the beating guys did back in those days when they took it to the hole. He still would have been a great player but not sure he'd be the player he is in today's NBA.

Pistons fan. Pretty much a rule to hate certain guys. CWebb I cant stand because he was chronically underachieving, chronically whining, lying POS.

Funny thing about Jordan. He was deathly afraid of water. If you challenged him to a swimming race, you'd win. And tipping.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the ultimate of ultimate duos. Also, probably the worst two tippers in NBA history

One of my favorite stories about Jordan. He was in a hotel elevator with Eddie Murphy in Vegas. They get in the elavtor and there's this little old lady from Iowa holding a bucket of quarters and is nervous as fawk standing there with them. Tiny old white broad who didn't recognize either of them. So the elevator sat still for a minute and Jordan says "Hit It!! The old woman drops her quarters and panicked for her life. She thought two black men were going to rape and steal her money.

Jordan and Eddie laughed so hard as they helped her up. They ended up sending her a dozen roses with a hundred dollar bill on each rose with the card reading" Thanks for the laugh."
