cyclone24 1,814 Posted August 10, 2017 Just curious if there's any value in getting a live draft app or program?
BufordT 371 Posted August 10, 2017 Haven't used one myself but have seen league mates using them. Haven't notice them making any more money that anyone else. It does make you look cooler at the draft though.

Hawkeye21 1,852 Posted August 10, 2017 I use FootballGuys draft app. Not so much for draft day but for draft prep. Love being able to put in my different league settings and do mock drafts quickly.
Ray_T 588 Posted August 10, 2017 a couple of guys in some of my drafts have used them on occasion. it doesnt seem to affect the end result, but it does look somewhat cool.
thePRO 78 Posted August 10, 2017 I make my own cheat sheet with my own rankings. I gather info from many other courses and mix it with my own. It's fun having a cheat sheet on draft day. And I definitely feel cool crossing off names and circling guys i drafted or stole!
redsrback 30 Posted August 10, 2017 I agree with Pro. I take the cheatsheet from here and realign the players where i want by tiering players so i can adjust during draft day. Why play if you arent doing it yourself, the facts are out there, and if you come here you know just as much as the so called experts. Draft day is the best thing about fantasy football in my opinion and 80 per-cent of winning a championship.
Hawkeye21 1,852 Posted August 10, 2017 I have found that using an app can be pretty nice and helps keep everything organized. For some reason I still struggle relying on an app though. I feel much more comfortable using my own cheat sheets and being able to see everything on one page. I always get a little more satisfaction out of using my own. LunaTick 29 Posted August 17, 2017 I use Draft Buddy to collect my thoughts. Works well, and this while I am entering the leagues draft during a live draft via ESPN. But with anything, you have to educate yourself. None of these apps are going to educate you on who is who and where they are worth what.

Yeah the biggest problem I can see is fighting what the app is telling me is a good value pick versus what I actually want to pick. Like if you tend to want to have plenty of running backs but in the fourth round they're telling you to take emmanual Sanders. Just seems like a rabbit hole every round you go down. I got away from "value" last few yrs and started taking who i wanted because a crap player is a crap player no matter where they are taken. now i get a chuckle when i see a guy nobody wants slip several rounds and someone finally takes him cause he's so high on his "experts" list and hasn't been crossed off. theres always several guys in my league i can count on to clean up the trash because they are following their app or whatever to a T. I get what you're saying but there's just a point in the draft where you might as well take that guy just in case he does turn out to be as good as the "experts" say. What do you have to risk taking a guy that dropped 3 rounds into the 6th or 7th?

Agree there's a point where it's late enough and you've wrapped up most of your starters that you could take your DNDs. They are almost always gone though before they reach that point. Hyde was the player last yr that fell in our draft and I still never bit and glad I didnt.
chcougar1 6 Posted August 18, 2017 I used Draft Dominator for the first time last year and won 3 out of my 5 leagues (yes I have a problem and cut it down to 3 this year). I had never won a league in the previous 7 years.
Quickolas1 80 Posted August 18, 2017 Instead of a draft assistance app, I queue up and play some dramatic orchestry-type music once I'm on the clock. So still need a smartphone or something with speakers... Like the main theme music to Last of the Mohicans... or whatever you prefer. Same effectiveness rate, I believe. LunaTick 29 Posted August 20, 2017 The apps don't tell you anything unless you have some mental health issues. They are a tool and a guide. Draft Buddy relies on information, which you have control over, in using. That being the default stats, to your own stats, to stats you find. Additionally there are ways to manipulate its recommendations to fit your draft. For instance. In a 10 team am in a 15 round league that starts 1 qb, 1 te, 2 wr, 2rb, 1 flex, 1 k. And 8 reserves of any quantity. I therefore set the app to suggest the anticipated backups at each position. TE, only a few times will draft a backup, likewise at kicker. So for a backup at these two positions I will say there will be a total of 4 TE installed as a backup and maybe 6 K. While this gets the rankings into a realistic state. You still have to determine what to when. Otherwise, you may as well autodraft or Better yet. Not waste everyone else time.
